Maksim Baranski
Wrapping this up! Been dragging this out for far too long now. Thanks to everyone who replied ♥.

Their song carried long and far through the land of Kingsfall, the great Redwoods swaying to the tune of the cries of wolves. No pack had been here, no wolf had claimed this place as theirs. The territory sung out in harmony with the beasts of the forest; birds began squawking and chirping, an elk bellowed in the distance. The canopy rustled and murmured a whisper to the wolves of Hearthwood River. Welcome home, they said.

Maksim fell quiet for a moment, ears pricked atop his head as he listened to the howls of his followers also slowly died out into the ambience of the woodland. Vibrant eyes drifted shut as he listened, breathing in tune with the playful whistle of the wind. "Home," the lord breathed out, "we're home." He turned away from where he stood and puffed his chest out proudly, for a fleeting and stolen moment to himself. He would return to Kisla now, to their newborn children. He would tend to her, bring her food and love, as well as return to the role of guardian for the mewling, chubby cubs that made up the Baranski's second litter.

A raven squawked nosily at him, tilting its head to cast its beady gaze down at him. The reborn River king lifted his head and chuckled lowly. "Yes. This is home ... it's about time, too." The wolfbird ruffled its feathers as it hopped along the branch, leaned in with a caw as if to question him. You will stay this time, yes? Maksim snorted with a nod. "Yes." He turned his gaze heavenward. "No wolf will uproot us here." A rasping series of squawks before the bird took off in a flurry of flaps.

We will see, River King. We will see.
