Karpos Slayer
i can show you how many moves to check mate

The man would make his next move, as Karpos gave him the chance to prove himself, and he made another mess of it. Karpos at this point did not think very highly of the man as he stood up, taking a deep breathe before admitting defeat. Karp’s tail rose slightly as he held a stern gaze. Who did this man think he was, challenging a strong opponent while injured? Had the man thought him weak? Karpos was unsettled by this, making his mind go into overdrive. He could think of one way to prevent such mistakes from happening again. He would seek out Maksim for the rank of Guardian, which would warn others that he could hold his own. Karp had the full intentions to get the role before this, but this put drive behind his passion.

“See my Uncle @Lachesis about your injuries.” The man’s tone was flat and his face stoical as he turned away from the dragon. He could have said good fight, but the man had scarcely gotten a hit in and Karp was almost embarrassed for him. Karp considered seeing his uncle himself, but there was no need. Perhaps if the fatigue returned he would seek out his uncle for healing. Later, he would speak to Maksim, and then afterwards he would speak to his uncle just to catch up. The two of them had been so busy that they had started to grow apart. It had been the same for his mother, @Anastasia and he found that he would have to fix this.

He also needed to speak to @Jynx about why she was avoiding him. It stung his heart, making him fall deeper into the darkness that slowly etched at his heart for the past two years of his life.

No, he thought traitorously. He would not seek this Lachesis, not would he pursue any other member of their pack – no one should be allowed to see a dragon brought so low, much less family members of the animal responsible.

In truth, it was his own foolishness, his own inability to judge his health and desire to prove his own worth that led to his return to earth. As Icarus flew too close to the sun and melted his wax wings, Kjors too allowed pride to blind him to the weakness of his own limbs and down he crashed, left in a crater of humility and anguish. For as long as Karpos remained, he would not move, gaze boring holes into the dirt. Only when the sound of paw pads growing distant reached his ears did the wolf finally move – not towards the pack den, or any other common ground, but back towards Zephyr Rill.

Blood continued to drip from his muzzle. The limp was pronounced, and a trek that should have taken the male minutes at best would take longer than an hour, clearly hindered by the recurrence of the sprain obtained while facing down the wolves of the Broken Timber Pines pack. Another blackened memory, Kjors thought with a grimace. If only he had avoided this pack altogether, how many problems would he have now?

(How would he pine for @Karina if he'd not taken up her offer?)

Ugh. He did not even want to see the princess. Perhaps he would find his home abandoned and could sleep this entire thing off.

If only it were that easy.

Exit.
