Round and round the Cove wolves took their turns in torturing their captive invader, the sound of snapping jaws and thunderous growls filling the evening sky. One wolf striking forward to narrowly miss the flesh covering rear ankles of the feline while another distracted the claws and fangs from the front. Each time their prisoner hoping to land a blow with each mighty swing of its heavy front paws, claws unsheathed in defense with intent on snagging a canine face. Yet, the wolf at its rear always kept it on its toes forcing the cat to constantly spin itself ragged in circles to defend itself. Never capable of stealing a moment's breath.
As the last rays of daylight began to die, it was obvious the lynx was weary with exhaustion. Its gray-brown sides heaving heavily while salmon tongue lolled over exposed fangs in a pant whenever a hiss of dissatisfaction didn't pass over it. It had taken those gathered time to wear down their quarry, but the end was finally here for the intruder. Vespertio's golden gaze sparkled in the dying light as it became apparent now would be the time to end this for good. This beast had little to no fight left now meaning the chances of injury greatly diminished. All they had to do now was strike now and strike hard.
Creamy limbs propelled forward with jaws parted widely, a menacing growl erupting from his throat while audits swiftly pressed against his skull to protect themselves. An ear piercing scream filled the twilight air as his canines sunk into the furred shoulder of his enemy, the metallic tang of fresh pumped blood oozing into his mouth from the freshly induced wounds. Shaking his head to and fro the patriarch attempted to tear this cat limb from limb, paws braced against the earth to keep himself steady. Another scream escaped the lynx as it tried to escape its inevitable demise, but exhaustion and the pain from its inflicted wound did little to help its cause. With his grip as solid as steel, he held on while ears picked up the cacophony of his subordinates dealing their own blows.
Under the bombardment of all three wolves the struggle was short lived before Vespertio felt the life essence fade then burn out completely. Only then did he dare release his jaws, stepping back to lick the crimson tinted hairs that lined his leathery lips. Panting, a single glance was given to the now lifeless corpse before turning to Pharika and Kajika in turn, a nod given where words were yet to be spoken as his lungs worked overtime to bring his body the oxygen it needed. "You've done well in defending your home which I greatly appreciate. Let's bring this rug home, yes?" A playful smirk adorned his face momentarily before grabbing an end of the body to carry home, paws shifting to head back to the den where a place on the cold stone floor had this lynx's name written all over it.
