Aideen Smoke-Athesila
Ugh, I am SO sorry, I promise I won't take this long again :/ @Rayne one more from each of you, and perhaps a last one from Aideen and we can wrap it up and get him on the rooster? <3

It was infinitely hard to keep a serious face when he looked at her like that, those intense, cerulean eyes speaking clearer than any words of how he felt for her. It still sent shivers down her spine. She had to tear her gaze away to look over at Rayne when he spoke, rust-colored ears flattening back nervously as she listened. There was no need to look at Miccah for her to guess his reaction, she knew her mate and his values, that was why she'd opted to speak first, in the hopes of appeasing him. Rayne kept it short though and Aideen nodded encouragingly, turning back to her husband as his deep, authoritative voice rung out through the thicket. The answer was not unexpected, nor was the hard look that had replaced the previous passion in his eyes. But the words were left hanging in the air, no clear verdict offered over the russet man. The queen waited anxiously, for once unable to decipher the thoughts hidden behind her king's guarded expression.

The last thing she expected was for him to come to her, his caresses usually limited to their private moments, which had been few and far between ever since she took over Nina's post. Obviously he had felt that depravation as much as her, the touch as always sending heat flushing through her body. With a soft sigh, the petite wolfess stretch her neck to return her husband's kiss, touching her nose to the jaw-bone under his right ear. In his simple gesture, she felt a yielding, his silent consent to her wishes. A delicate smile curved her lips, as she whispered an almost silent: "Thank you." Before her husband pulled away.

To Rayne, his decision was presented with a simple, stiff nod, his only words directed at Aideen. And the medic did not hesitate in acting, turning her full attention back to the reddish man by her side, her smile growing. Gently nudging his hip, extending a paw to show the direction, she encouraged him to continue moving. "You heard him!" She proclaimed in an upbeat voice, grinning at her friend. He was home now, and with her care he was gonna grow strong in no time. Miccah was far from convinced, that much was clear, but she also knew that the only way for Rayne to regain the dark alpha's trust was to prove himself worthy of it; So for now it was up to her to help him get back on his feet, so he had the power to do so.

It was only a short distance to the communal den, where the weakened male could get rest, while his caretaker hurried to her nearby medicinal den for a few choice herbs to help him heal quicker, stopping at a cache on her way back, to get some more food for him as well. The piece of meat she brought was small, though she was sure he was already hungry again, but she wanted to ensure he'd keep it down. And she offered him the herbs first, a strict look telling clearer than words that she expected him to eat those first. The Pineapple weed was dried as it was still a bit too early for the small, green bunches to pop up of the trampled dirt near the mountains; But it would do. The lavender was fresh though, a lucky find from only a few days earlier, and the combination should calm both his stomach and mind. Once they were gone, he would get the meat, along with a reassuring: "You'll get more later."

Raybe followed after his friend and healer, now leader, though he kept a respectful distance behind so Aideen and Micccould walk together if they wished. His nose was engulfed in all sorts of scents of the thickets, some new and some old. Even if he had never truly meet them all properly, it was reassuring to know that at least a few smelled farmilar. Though he knew not all would be like Aideen. In fact, he'd be surprised if any were like her and wouldn't be surprised if they were more like Miccah. And there was a small stab in his heart at the thought of those who had become friends yet most likely already moved away from the pack, that he never gave a proper farewell too. He wondered what became of those wolves, like young Kite. Was she alright? He vaguley remebered her smell yet could not pick it up so she must have surely moved on.

Once they arrived at the den, Rayne  followed Aideen's instructions, carefully eating the plants she put out in front of him, even if his stomach growled for the meat that she also had. His stomach rumbled slightly in protest. It wanted meat, all the meat that could possibly fit into it and more. And Rayne knew he could fulfill that wish easily enough but he also knew what would happen if he did. If a starving wolf ate too much meat, after not eating properly for a long time, could come out even sicker in the end. He had heard some... unpleasant stories of it happening and did not wish that to happen to him.

Once he finished chewing the herbs, he turned his attention to the meat, wanting to devour it in a single bit as his mouth watered. The small amount of meat soon disappeared into his stomach, it crying out for more but Rayne silencing it quickly. Ears flickered over to Aideen as she spoke. The words made sense to him and he nodded in understanding.

"Thank you Aideen, and you as well Miccah." The sickly male bowed his head towards the leaders, his words as genuine  as could be. "I will be forever in your debt."

Miccah Athesila

The dark king walked alongside their newcomer, and Miccah was silent as they followed Aideen to the communal den. He watched as his mate worked to make the ill man comfortable before leaving for the den they had converted into her workplace. Miccah chose to stay with Rayne, for he was no use to his wife concerning her medicines. Healing was her field of expertise, not his. The large beast continued to be her ever-faithful sentinel as she diligently worked to start Rayne on his healing process and fed him, yet his paws itched to get back to the borders. When all seemed to be well and knowing she had everything under control, he nodded his farewell and his dark from disappeared in the shadows of the thickets.

However, his distrust with Rayne had yet to ebb, and Miccah knew it would be awhile until it did. He moved within his home with practiced ease and was satisfied as he found the pack member he had been seeking. The boy held dreams of being a guardian, and Miccah thought he could become a great one. But right now, he didn’t need him watching the borders. With a short order, Korrin Hervok left to keep an eye on the newcomer in Miccah’s stead. As the dark alpha began his border patrol, he mulled over his mate’s friend. Rayne would have to prove his worth, and hopefully the man wouldn’t make a stupid decision- like making the choice to desert them. Because although Miccah had given him a second shot and had accepted him back into the pack, the dark king was not a man who offered third chances.

Aideen Smoke-Athesila

Rayne was a good patient, dutifully chucking down the things she ordained and nodding his understanding, even while his stomach growled loudly for more food. Aideen only smiled, answering her friend's thanks with a happy expression, she needed no more words, having him back was thanks enough. Miccah was another story though, his silent watch clearly showing his distrust. The petite wolfess sighed internally, but she knew her mate was not the type to grand second chances; She had pushed him to let Rayne back into the Woodlands, and he had yielded, but it would take hard work from the russet boy to truly regain the dark alpha's trust.

She did all she could do, helping her friend to get back in shape so he had the strength to prove himself. The rest was up to Rayne; He'll do great! For now, at least Miccah was retreading, no doubt returning to his border patrols. Aideen gave him a loving smile as farewell, watching him as he trotted off. Only once he'd disappeared into the thicket did she look back to her patient, giving an apologetic shrug; "He'll come around." It would take work, but she believed in her old friend; "Now rest, I'll be back with more food in a little while." Yes, she'd give him all the tools he needed, and she knew he would pull through.
