Heartleaf Creek salt skin

Short post to conclude. :)

It felt strange to be unable to go to her even though she was mere feet in front of him, before, when he had been miles away with no hope of coming home he would have given anything to be even this close but now he could see her and smell her he just wanted to be able to feel her warmth against his side once more. Gradually though, as if she had read his thoughts, he watched her approach him and his tail started to swing side to side, his paws lifting and rising like he was walking on the spot in his eagerness for her to reach him, small, short whines breaking the silence. When he could feel her breath he froze as he waited for her, wondering if this extended closeness would be all that she allowed him, his eyes not wanting to ever drift from those green ones he had missed so much.

Finally though she pushed her wet nose to his and unable to resist Indru darted his salmon pink tongue out to lick her muzzle, his heart soaring. I missed you so much, he whispered as she brushed her cheek against his and he pushed his back against hers gently, relishing in her familiar scent and warmth. He never felt he'd be ready to leave her side again and he almost whined once more when she pulled away from him, until she spoke of home and he nodded in response, turning his head to face her. Always. Quickly, and daringly perhaps, he nipped her nape in affection, licking her gently at the base of her ears before he pulled away again to give her the distance she had put between them. He let her lead the way as he travelled home parallel to her, keeping as close as she would allow and forever only wanting it to be closer.
