Gent's tail wagged happily behind him as his children returned his affections, about as quickly as it ever had before. Ryker, still more timid than his sisters, did not go unnoticed by the mirthful father. After giving Lucia and Aleris their due, he swept over them to nudge Ryker lovingly, but his muzzle didn't reach him before the boy uttered something that made his ears prick upward. The trio were at the age where they were mimicking sounds, trying to replicate language. The girls had managed a select few very small words, but Ryker had yet to say his first.
"... Spring?" he asked, watching his son intently. That was what he'd been trying to copy, wasn't it?
Swing was a word in itself, but so was 'dada' and it didn't really mean as much when it was a random happenstance. This word be an actual,
intentional word that the child would be able to communicate with. It hopefully, it would be a slippery slope. Once he had one word down, he'd just keep learning more alongside his sisters, just as Minka's litter had. His pale gaze flickered briefly to his wife before focusing on Ryker once again as he willed him to try again.
You've got this.
