I got Brian's permission to skip Sylva. This thread is getting pretty old, want to wrap it up with your @Gent post?
It had been nearly a year since the incident Gent spoke of. It almost felt like a different life to the girl who was now a woman... and a packless mother no less. After a long moment she nodded, accepting the man’s gratitude. Even though Round Stone Crest—as the pack had gone by at the time—was not a friend to her family, she had alerted them to their intruder without a moment’s hesitation. It would have been unacceptable to leave a dangerous boar wandering their territory, likely to hurt whatever hapless wolf it came across. That’s what serving the Mother was about: protecting your fellow wolf from harm always, no matter who they were or what they had done in the past.
Gent’s gratitude was a valuable thing to have. Their trip would be much shorter if they could take the eastward route alongside the pass, but she knew they would need Gent’s blessing to travel so close to his borderlands. “You’re more than welcome. I understand. I—we—have a place like that, too." Karina looked down to her daughter when she said the word “we.” Dragonveil was as much Bennet’s as it was her own. “It’s where we’re headed now, if we might be dismissed.” Karina dipped her muzzle respectfully. Her encounter with Gent had been surprisingly pleasant, but she was eager to be on her way. With the man’s permission, mother and daughter would be quickly on their way, so they might fulfill Karina's esperance to be far from Notch lands by nightfall.
