Anaia Lieris

Word Count:  269

Anaia stomach rumbled softly at the offered meat.  “Thanks.” She butted her head against Sara’s neck before beginning to eat, keeping half an eye on the rest of the pack members.  She couldn’t help a small snort of amusement to see Odin playfully teasing another wolf she hadn’t met yet.  “I wish I could have helped.” She sighed ruefully to @Saradathia .

When Craw began to speak, she turned her attention upwards. Wild Rye Fields? “Is that where that other wolf we met when you found me came from?” She murmured, not wanting to interrupt.  If it was, she was sure Odin had reported it already. He seemed very fond of his father, after all.  It hadn’t been an eventful encounter – no regarding pack relations, anyway – that Anaia had noticed, but then again she’d been more worried about survival at that moment in time.

She continued eating the food her sister had brought her, glad for something to do while she watched the pack.  She wanted to get to know them, but she didn’t want to stick out more than she already did.  She hoped she would have the opportunity to meet all of them in the near future, though it would be too much to hope they would stop by her little den for a visit.  As it was, she almost felt like Craw had shoved her out of the way with the purpose of making her feel isolated.  Is this a test? She suddenly wondered, eyeing the scarred leader and the dark woman, who had to be his mate, sitting beside him.

Saradathia Kethian
Saradathia glanced around at the large assortment of wolves that formed their pack, A slight smile forming as she watched Odin’s antics, unaware though, as it sparked a slight desire deep within for that kind of easy interaction with family. Returning Anaia’s bump with a playful nip of her own, she settled down, nibbling lightly on the end of the leg, her ears perked as Craw spoke. So that was their name, the hell’s a rye field? she wondered, though she hadn’t had any other encounters with the wolves of that territory just yet.

“None yet, only the brief interaction when we came across my sister.” She said wit with pride, Anaia was the only wolf that had the same blood running in her veins and Saradatha was proud of her, she might still be recovering, but soon she knew she’d be as much an asset to the pack as the smaller female was, and she’d happily argue against anyone that disagreed about it. “I recall Odin seemed to know her from a previous encounter.” she hadn’t been aware that the information as basically useless a Craw himself had been apart of that encounter, but she wanted to get all the information the pack knew collectively out there.

Kára Archer
sorry for the lateness!

Unlike Odin the girl had had no mischief left in her and only watched in amusement as he leaped down beside Greer. Settling down beside his large frame the pup laid her fiery head upon her paws and after a few sleepy blinks was completely out. Dreams filled with the memories of chasing down the creatures they had hunted her body twitched merrily. Smacking her lips enthusiastically as dream Kára sunk her teeth into the beast she suddenly woke at the sound of O's name being spoken.

Blinking the grogginess away the pup quickly deduced exactly what they were talking about, that girl they had beat the crap out of. Grinning from her place on the rock Kára lifted her cranium to cast a sideways glance at her brother. Looking to Craw with a sly smile she announced, w' made tha girl run back ter where sh' belongs!" It had been truly awesome. Usually her and Odin had to reign in their violence but that time Cer had encouraged them and what a hellfire they had raised. Cackling and the thought of it, the pride was written clearly across the child's face as she beamed towards her dad. Suddenly way too awake to go back her nap she stretched her front legs way out in front of her, belly full but amped up from the memory.

Greer Archer-Lyall

A smudge of black fur foiled his plans of leaving early. The shadow remained on his perch as Odin stood over him, resisting the urge to stand up and send the young Archer tumbling. A sigh of relief escaped him once his nephew settled down against the boulder, a quick lick applied to his chin once the boy got comfortable. Greer threw a soft smile in the direction of the fiery-eyed boy as Kára joined him. As she dozed off the gangly Archer turned his attention back to the group, his cold gaze landing on the silver spider as he began to speak. A frown cut into his dark lips as Craw asked if there had been any encounters with the north’s newest pack, Wild Rye Fleas. After following the wolf Lorçan had met in the summer Greer had merely observed the group south of them. Fortunately there had not been a second run-in, but he watched their movements to ensure they did not get too close to the monadnock.

His ears twitched in the direction of the two pale female’s as the injured one whispered something to the other. His brows narrowed, curiosity clawing hungrily at his chest. It did not take long for the hunger to be answered, as the one with the scarred muzzle spoke of an interaction. Sister. Made sense—now that he looked at them more closely it was remarkable how similar the two wolves appeared.

He quickly dismissed the thought as she spoke again, stating that Odin had encountered the same wolf before. At the mention of her brother Kára’s russet head pulled away from her paws, her cheeky voice breaking the brief silence that had settled over the wolves. A crooked smile tugged at his lips as his silver gaze settled on her. There was already too many run-in’s for Greer’s liking—he did not want them anywhere near Whitestone. They had lingered too long without claiming the territory, lurking in the shadows, and for what reason?

His tongue remained unused for he had nothing to offer—instead, he was all ears. He wanted to collect as much intel as possible.

Capable

Hunts were easily one of the best parts of pack living.  It was not that the woman was incapable (heh) of finding and bringing down prey on her own, for indeed, sheer size and stamina alone often promised her more than scrawny chipmunks or sad rabbits.  It was not the camaraderie she sought either – outside of the pack alphas, Capable could give or take the rest of the wolves.  They were not a general hindrance nor were they boons, and so she let them be.

It was, for no better description, the sheer rush of adrenaline that came with physical exertion – but oh, this was no practice scuffle!  This was a true test of prowess, mental and physical both, and to be place with like-minded wolves was a blessing indeed.  Her whole body was still humming happily with the afterglow of victory and the heavy taste of copper in her mouth.  Truthfully, Capable would have been more than content to feast if Craw had not really begun to address the others.  As it were, she amused herself with her personal high until the second round of talking had begun.

“Naw,” she hummed.  But then, she usually patrolled out east, didn’t she?  Perhaps she ought to think about changing her routes…

Lorcán Artemieva
Contentedly and gnawed and chewed at the caribou head, peeling flesh from bone happily until his russet ears pricked up at the sound of Morganna’s raised voice. Releasing the skull from his jaws, Lorcan raised his head to look across to the dark haired woman with curious tilt of his head, wondering exactly what or who she was referring to. Craw’s answer swiftly shone a light on the whole situation however and Lorcan glanced around to his pack mates that surrounded him to listen in to whatever information they had to offer.

As Lorcan listened to the responses being called out one by one, it seemed that no one besides himself and maybe Odin knew of any more information about their troublesome neighbours. The agouti male glanced around again, waiting for a moment to see if anyone else would call out and when it remained silent, Lorcan finally offered up his own answer. “Not since the last time we spoke, Sir.” He had filled in their superior not too long ago and told him of his run in with Askan and that younger female that had accompanied him. Fortunately, he had not come across any of the Wild Rye wolves since.

With his piece stated, Lorcan paused to glance around again, expectant for the other members to reply before he turned his attention back to his chew toy but kept his russet ears perked up in case anyone else happened to have information of interest.

Piety Santoro
Whether anyone would notice or not was unknown but she softly shook her head, in a way that showed no, at the male's question anyway. Wild Rye Fields did not ring a bell with her but she wondered if they should. Why would the leaders be asking about them if they weren't a concern?

Her good ear flicked softly hearing the small chatter around her along with those who spoke out about these Wild Rye Fields wolves. Talk of finding sisters, Odin possibly knew them, Kara seemed to know them, and two others confirmed nothing new. She had nothing to contribute so she merely stayed silent. The pale woman's muddy eyes scanned the area. Everyone seemed comfortable and she could say she felt the same. With a full stomach, she had nothing more to want. Although a nap didn't sound terrible right now.

She had to stay as it was only right. Piety could learn from this meeting about their apparent neighbors that everyone had an interest in. The Santoro figured she could always take a trip down there and see what all the fuss was about. She also figured there was no need to insert herself into this affair unless it was needed. Perhaps she could chat with Morganna about it on one of their patrols.

Odin Archer

As his sister came alongside, he dragged his tongue across her forehead with a smirk, fully expecting her to lash out at him for daring to mess with her hair. At the mention of Rye wolves his ears perked and tail thumped, Kara's declaration met with a throaty laugh, "Yeah, ran into her again when we found Anaia, she didn' want to get too close." His confident smirk might have been absent if @Wraith was here to wipe it off his face, but their father was with them that day and saw no fault with their behaviour (except that maybe they weren't too aware of their own bite strength when they lashed out at the woman - at least he had known for when he started sparring with @Lorcan).

But it seemed that they were the only ones to have run-ins with them and he had to wonder if they were keeping a lower profile since they ran the woman off that kill? "D'ya think they're hidin'? He whispered to @Kara with a smirk, even if it was only to inflate their egos, he very much hoped that was the case. Perhaps it was the loss of Isolde that had made their mother so hard on them, or maybe it was just the harsh reality of tundra living, but the monadnock children were as rough as they came, just like the rock they were born on.

Morganna Archer-Lyall

Judging by the feedback, either the Rye wolves kept to the south or there weren't enough of them to cause her pack any trouble in their travels. It was a small thing, she supposed, but enough to put her a whole lot more at ease than she had been. "If yer do run inter 'em, try ter play nice..." She smirked as she spoke, but supposed she had best get it out there. That said, she still held her own reservations, "But they are too close fer comfort so if yer need ter put 'em in their place, don't let me hold yer back. They aren't our friends, but we'll tolerate 'em until they give us a reason not ter. If Kara an' Odin can fend 'em off, I'm sure th' rest o' yer won't have trouble." They would see what else the season would bring. Currently, they were comfortable but all it would take is one herd catching the scent of two packs so close together and changing their migration path for things to get a whole lot meaner on the Tundra.

For now though, she was full, surrounded with good company and content. Each word spoken only soothed her agitation and bought her around to @Craw's way of thinking. Let them have their field and trees. As long as they left whitestone well alone, then she wouldn't have a reason to lash out.

Lorcán Artemieva
This is Lorcan’s last post in this thread
Lorcan listened carefully to everything any of his fellow pack members had to say. Russet ears perked up at Odin’s contribution. It seemed that out of everyone, it was the young boy who had the most information to offer up. The healer’s attention next turned to their dark superior and the agouti male dipped his head in acknowledgment of Morganna’s wishes. The smirk that pulled at the corners of her mouth got him curious. Was that what she really wanted or had she been persuaded otherwise?

Morganna’s real intentions on the matter was soon offered up though. “if yer need ter put 'em in their place, don't let me hold yer back.” So there it was. They were to tolerate each other. Lorcan’s mind flitted briefly back to Askan as he considered the order. Sure he could tolerate the male, but putting that brute in his place seemed like a greater challenge. “Understood, ma’am.” He responded clearly, offering another nod towards the woman and then one towards Craw. Settling back down, Lorcan continued to chew at his caribou head whilst keeping his ears perked up, ready to listen to anything else that the others had to say in response to Morganna’s latest instructions.
