The rain continued to pour down from the sky as they traveled, and there wasn't a sign in sight that it was going to let up anytime soon. It was dark now, and though she had dreaded nightfall just hours before she was in a way relieved now. The shadows would hide the emotion settled upon her soft features. This place was so foreign, so unlike the jagged, sun swept cliffs that were all she could remember of where she came from. It had been a long time since she'd laid her own eyes upon the stretch of coast, upon the expanse of wildflowers that once towered over her head, but time wasn't healing the way she knew it would be. She was willing to leave the palisade and the whole of her lost past behind her; it was the desire to move on with her life, and the fact that she wasn't making any progress, that got her down.

Trailing behind the creamy wolf who had found her at her weakest moment and was still a mystery, her solemn gaze rose to watch the sway of his tail as he moved, her eyes dull with exhaustion. In time the forest would fade and give way to an open expanse dotted with small trees. Had it not been for the rain she may have appreciated the subtle cherry scent that lived in the dirt here. Upon the small wave of a knoll stood a woody skeleton, and it was there that their short journey would come to an end. She was hesitant to simply file in right behind, but he did have the right idea. He settled down and let loose a wide yawn; she watched and let loose a soft whine. In a final attempt to stand on her own, she braved the rain just a few seconds longer, looking about at the dark expanse of the orchard as if to make sure the coast was clear. Shaking the water from her coat, she scuttled inside the warm, dry, quiet den, plopped down beside the kind fellow and snuggled close, burying her nose against his chest. With a heavy sigh she welcomed the sleep that came quickly, drifting to the world of her dreams as the pitter patter of raindrops sung her lullaby.
