As he successfully gripped the back of his uncle's neck, Triell went ahead and delivered a blow of his own, making the masked pack wolf stagger back the way he had come as well as jerk back and away from him. Fffffffsss... That stung!
Fenru had overlooked the possibility of such a move and his network of nerves were paying the price for it. It hadn't been anything too major - no blood, no wounds, nothing that needed wolf-spit and herbs as some sort of ointment - but it was very effective in getting Triell's point across. This was not child's play, and the prize at stake was very much real. Furthermore, Uncle Triell was determined to fight back.
Half-crouched in the grass, the younger Tainn lifted his lips again, pulling them up from over the base of his teeth and dark gums. The dark whiskers on either side of his muzzle and nose twitched but a growl did not come, no matter how suggestive the facial expression might have been. Instead, Fenru lunged forth again, his large frame coming forward and up again, his right forearm slipping across his uncle's back as he repeatedly tried his first intimidation tactic. The firm, and yet gentle, grasp of his teeth over the back of Triell's neck was attempted and achieved... perhaps that might've helped tip the scales in his favor if only in just the slightest amount.

Tali heard the call of her superior, and it was one she was excited for. Small paws carried her onward, pulling hard against the ground as she made her way home. home. It was a strange concept that somehow she had found a place of worth. Somewhere she could live with others of her kind, and although they may not have been family in the regular sense, they were still a family. A smile broke onto her face as she moved through the fog. The scent of her pac mates all together sent her head spinning in anticipation of what she knew was coming. The youngest generation of Oak Tree Bend were coming out into the light. They would be able to see the beauty in this world under their parents watchful eyes. Eventually they would grow to be guardians or teachers. They would become staple members of everyday life, and she would be able to watch them grow from the sidelines.Cubs were not something Tali thought about often, as she knew she would never mother a litter of her own. The rights to breed lied with those who were superior to her, and those who could care for them with everything they had. No, she was certainly not fit to be a mother, but that didn't mean she couldn't indulge in the cubs that would be growing up right here in the heart of the pack. Her heart sang as she caught sight of her pack mates. They were all just as excited in this moment as she, and it was a beautiful thing. All of them brought together by new life. A sudden air fell around them, and she a wolf she had yet to meet seemed to be challenging the one who brought her here. Giving the males a wide berth, she moved to stand behind Kisla, only glancing at the scuffle between Fenru and Triell, before turning toward the two light fuzzballs.
His ears flipped back, his jowls parted and his teeth pinched at the fur and skin at Triell's right inner elbow, the closest "weak spot" he could pinpoint... anything to try and get his most beloved blood relative to just let it go. The way he saw it, Fenru had deserved this apparently coveted spot. As selfish as the thought may have been, Corinna's second-born son was still determined to perform his best in front of the family; even, though his endurance and staying power were not as potent as they had been a few moments ago. His black-lined jaws clamped down on the swarthy limb, only partially bracing himself for his opponent's next move. If his Uncle Triell was going to play rough, then he was going to up the stakes... When he had had enough, one of them was going to be flattened in a bed of grass, and he hoped with all his might that it would not be him. As much as he was determined and well-aware of the consequences presented from such a challenge, he was going to do everything and anything he could to show the pack just exactly who he was - winner or not.

All of them had kept busy providing for Corinna so she could feed her young once they had made their way into this huge and unpredictable world. She did her best to do her part, protecting the borders and hunting small game as she could. She couldn't help a smile remembering how out of it Ice had been, especially right after the birth, needing the care nearly as much as Corinna had. Today, which seemed like any other, took a sudden and abrupt change when her leadess' call rent the air. It was not a call of distress, it was a call filled with pride, beckoning her family to come and meet the new royalty. While this thought filled the wolf heart with pleasure it also caused her heart to clench in pain. It seemed that it would always be such for her. New young would always remind her of the pups that she had lost a lifetime ago. When she had lost her chance at love and motherhood in one fell swoop.
Shaking the melancholy that threatened to overtake her, Cali took a deep cleansing breath and moved towards the den, only the barest hint of hesitancy left in her step. Saddened by her memories, she determined not to show such emotion to her king and queen and their blessed royalty. She smelled all of the others already present when she arrived. All that had moved here from the west and another that had been missing for some time. Triell. He had come home and that should have been happy tidings, especially paired with the emergence of the pups.
But Triell and Fenru were paired off in a dominance match. The fact that they were fighting for position didn't bother her. What did anger the snowy fae was that they had not waited for another time. The introduction of the pups into a new and scary world must be terrifying with the snarling and growling of the two large males. If she had thought it would do any good she would have attempted to break up the fight, but she had no wish to get hurt and it was not her place. Not with both Ice and Corinna present. She moved to the other side of Jessie, standing tall with waves of agitation rolling off of her. She felt like boxing both of the male's ears and knocking some sense into them. Giving them a disdainful look and a low growl of her own that they'd not likely notice, she turned her emerald gaze to the two pale balls of fur behind Corinna, trying to give them a smile and a reassuring look as she wagged her thick white plume at them.

As smoothly as he could manage, the subordinate tilted his head this way and that, wresting free at last to meet his opponent's open jaws with his own. Tactfully maneuvering his head, he met Triell's moves in return. Nose to nose, lip to lip, eye tooth to eye tooth... Fenru kept angling his head and adjusting his jaws in order to keep Triell's grip at bay. Having spent a majority of his energy in trying to force his uncle to submit to him, Fenru was at a loss and in one last attempt, he tilted his muzzle upward and managed a simple, loose grip on his uncle's dark lower jaw. A deep growl issued forth from his chest as he panted heavily into the hairs on his uncle's chin, his tail wavering above him. It might not have been the best effort he had made thus far, but it was very apparent now that he was merely, foolishly bluffing. If a muzzle-grab was not enough to make the elder Tainn back down, then the youth was more than likely done for.

As soon as Triell raised his head, there was already no doubt about who clearly was victor in this little spat. The young wolf found that his head had already been held much lower and he had no more energy to expend and lift his own skull to meet the challenge again. With one last fleeting glance to the darker Tainn's face, his large ears went back and every taut muscle in his body relaxed. His tail lowered back into its usual arch at his ankles before curling beneath him.It felt as though he had just been handed the ultimate scolding, Fenru nobly bowed down, apologetically rolling over on this left side and nestling his temple in the long grass with a low whine. I'm sorry, he wordlessly whimpered. I'm sorry.
Somewhat embarrassed, his gaze quickly went over to the small group assembled before the den before closing his eyes and bracing himself. Before he could be formally released from the challenge he had issued and lost, to crawl back to his mother's side or find reprieve in Ice's or Jessie's shadows, @Triell had but one last move that would finally declare him as nephew's superior and the new Second beneath Oak Tree Bend's male Leader, Ice Aesir.
