Sloane took a few deep slow breaths as he waited for the other to heed his words this time, as he had not before the fight. He was clearly broken and satisfaction filled the over-sized wolf. Not at the injury that he had caused the other wolf, for now that the rush of adrenaline and testosterone were fading back to normal levels, he no longer wished him dead, merely gone. His pride was due to having defended the honor of his mate, even if she was not truly his mate yet. In his mind and heart, she was and he had fought for her and won. Any young wolf in his place would feel as he did now, confident and powerful.
When Narime' approached, he waved his tail once, but refused to take his eyes off of his fallen foe, even as she gently lapped at a few of his wounds. She spoke to the younger male, advising him to see Chantille, obviously a healer. The name struck a chord in his memory and after a moment's thought, he remembered an ivory fae up near the mountains. She'd actually been one of the first wolves that he'd met in relic-lore. He'd enjoyed the small bit of time that they'd spent together and had even fancied himself a bit sweet on her. How very foolish he had been. When he felt Narime' press into his body, he knew that whatever fleeting thing that he had felt for the older fae, it was nothing compared to the love that he felt for the silver fae at his side. Nothing would ever compare.
When the dark male finally got shakily to his feet, backed away and then turned and ran off with his tail clamped firmly to his belly, Sloane was finally able to relax his tense stance. Narime's close presence at his side helped considerably. By her earlier words to the boy, it was obvious that she had known the male and at least considered him an acquaintance, if not a friend. By the way that she reassured him of her own loyalties, he was not worried. She was clearly letting him know where her heart lay and her words confirmed it. He had pleased her and he basked in her affection as she touched her nose to his.
Her reassurance soothed the savage beast in him and filled him with her own light and love. Amber eyes shining with his love, he answered her with a smile, "Hello, again, Blue-Eyes!" Then, ignoring the twinges of pain in his muzzle and neck, he buried his nose in her silver scruff and breathed deeply of her intoxicating scent, knowing that he was right where he belonged.
