Flynn Labelle
Having left the Hush Meadow, Flynn traveled north toward the Blackberry Fields, hoping that a few of the berries would stubbornly be clinging to the vines. Blackberries definitely weren't what she should be looking to eat, but she did adore the tart little berries. They were much easier to get than any animal. Hunting always took so much energy and even after she filled her belly she always felt guilty about taking a life. At least with berries she could get a little bit of energy without the feeling of guilt.

Unfortunately for Flynn, there were very few berries still on the vines. It seemed as though other animals had already gotten to most of them and what those other animals didn't eat the cold weather had gotten. Still, Flynn searched for the berries and every now and again she would find one that was still in good enough shape to eat, so she would. It wasn't enough to fill her growling belly and it was a bit disheartening.

After a few more minutes of searching unsuccessfully, Flynn backed away from the bushes and sat. She hadn't completely given up, though. Her eyes still searched the bushes, but as the minutes ticked on it was becoming more and more apparent that there wasn't much of anything left for her to find there.

<blockquote>Okay, so she really wasn't as brave as she wanted to be. She really wanted things to change, because she did not want to be the only one scared, and clinging to her mother. The world was scary, and the forest was the only place she felt safe so she was in a bit of a predicament. But, the young girl had a thought. Maybe just exploring more of it would give her the confidence she needed. She tried to recruit her sister, or brothers but decided as much as they might want to explore too, that they would see through her. She did not want that, and in the end told herself she had to do this on her own. At first she stuck with where she knew, the creek. She'd been there a hundred times, and knew it was even okay to go there. She thought her plan was pretty full proof, just follow the water. She wouldn't get lost, and she wouldn't get too far from home, right?

Once she started following the stream she started to notice these little minnows in it. They really made her wonder, and she tried to figure out where they were going. It was fun little game, and she grinned to herself how brave she was following minnows without anyone. The minnows went further, and further and so did she. She was oblivous to her surroundings in the call of a raven made her jump. Right then she realized she had no idea where she was. <i>Oh no,</i> she thought her heart starting to pound more fierce than it ever had. She felt her body go rigid, and her moonlit eyes scanned the forest looking for something, or even someone she knew. A whine of worry vibrated her throat, and she stared at the black bird wishing it could help her. It only cawed once more, and seemed not to care.

Panic set in, and believing home was straight behind her she started to run with her gangly limbs. The faster she ran, the more the forest changed till it was not a forest, but an open field. <b>"No, no,"</b> she whispered, tears coming into her eyes. This was not home, she did not know where this was. She tried to think, what to do. Quickly she lifted up her white head, and tried to howl. Her howl was not very loud, and it was strained because she was starting to cry even further.</blockquote>
