<blockquote><i>Early morning, cloudy, 55° F/13° C</i></blockquote>

A month old, he was getting bigger and often invaded the personal space of everyone within the den. If there was something touching him, he would kick, bite, or punch, until he had fought everyone away from any physical contact. His brown fur would ruffle in the coldness after a moment of isolation, and he would become very unhappy with his new found spot. Letting the breezy chill seep through his fur, the brute realized this hadn’t been a smart idea after all. Next time, he would not be so quick to go off on his own. Half-asleep, the frown pulled at his lips and his face twisted in regret. It was only a matter of time before he crawled back, hoping to be forgiven and embraced once more. It was nice and comforting, like a home should be, wrapped up in the fur of someone else. His eyes were still closed, mouth instinctively opening and chewing on the closest body-part. He didn’t open his eyes to see exactly see who or what was in his mouth, he only knew that it was soft and furry, and it belonged between his gums like a soother. He was a handsome little guy, full of potential, with black claws and paw-pads, a muscular muzzle, and long legs. He was a future heart-throb in training. That was only to be expected from the pups of such parents, Vaeta had it best. One look at her, and the world went quiet in awe. Still, Nios was far from ugly. With an extremely unique exterior the pup was born for attraction, which he would accept openly as he grew. His handsome features, and charming personality, Nios would grow to have a reputation with females.

That moment though, he just wanted to yip. A pup-like attempt at howling, his eye-lids flicked open, and he fully awoke. As soon as he finished his little song, he spat out whatever was in his mouth, and let his eyes feast upon his family. Mirren was close by, Vaeta was a good pouncing distance, but the boy didn’t dive in for either of them. Instead, he was drawn to the exit. Since birth he was curious about what actually was beyond the safety of his parents, and he’d be damned it any of his siblings found out before him. Each day he got closer and closer, cautiously peaking over his shoulder at his parents, both who were capable of scolding the daring young man. He avoided a bad outcome by taking a peak, then racing back before being noticed, but this time, he just sat and whimpered, pleading inside the den.

Of course he was scared. Who knew what was beyond these walls. There could be monsters, and creatures double the size of his mother who fed off boys like him for breakfast. He could see the light, which blinded him. A month in darkness had made his vision extremely sensitive. He clenched his wide beaming eyes shut, trying to find comfort in the darkness once more, but finding none. He was adorable, a bundle of life hidden beneath a dark brown fur and curious smile. When he strained his neck, a golden undercoat hit the shining light and reflected the outside world enchantingly. "Mama! Mama!"

His words broke the silence. Like the sound of thunder rippling across the sky, the child of Ruiko and Aeylen let his voice be heard. He had a soft tone, one that was pleasant and charming. It drew you in, made each word the climax of some intense story. It added onto his personality, how smooth he was, how he made others remember him, the way he spoke, the way he laughed, it was all very drawing. His chocolate brown ears tilted and spun, dancing like his spunky eyes in the brightness. He only sat for a moment further.

The boy spun on his paws, turning his back to the entrance. There were dangers past these walls Nios couldn’t even imagine, but he was ready to take them on, in theory. Of course, if a predator met Nios he would be no match at this age alone. He bet Mirren would be tough enough to survive longer than he, but would never admit it. Nios was brave, very instinctive, but he had an ego. The boy wasn’t sure if his brother and sister were awake, but it didn’t matter. He trampled over them towards his mother lovingly anyways, desperate for her touch and company. "Mama!"

His words were more of an explanation now, unlike before while he called her name for her attention. His mother was beautiful. She had the softest fur, amber eyes, and the most rhythmic heartbeat. Each second he listened to it he would find himself drifting off once more. The little man fell into her side, letting out a deep exhale of satisfaction as he inhaled her familiar scent. “Can we please leave the den now?”

He asked softly, just like any desperate child would. He was using his manners, searching for brownie points, nuzzling his mother, begging. His back-leg twitched, trying to kick himself closer. He was too charming for his own good. Turning on the persuasion, the boy batted his eye-lashes and looked up at his regal mother as if she was the best thing. His tail wagged, like a swinging branch any contact would cause pain, which was just what he wanted. He stuck his butt out in an attempt to hit either Mirren or his sister, something he could blame was an accident, though he knew better. "I'm so tired of it here."

Overdramatic, carrying the ‘so’ until he was coughing with the effort, highlighting each word, it was quite obvious he was bored. He wanted to do everything he possibly could in the twenty four hours he had, and resting was not one of them! He never wanted to sleep. He wanted to run, and hunt, and fight. Of course, he had no idea how to hunt, he was a clumsy runner, and he’d only fought with his siblings, but he still wanted to learn. He didn’t want to be carried around by the scruff in his mother’s mouth, dangling limply like a wet towel. He wanted to feel the ground as he ran. Not at all aggressively, an upper-lip rose to show tiny teeth and he tried to grab some of his mother’s fur, pulling her towards the exit with needy paws pressed up against her side. "Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!"

He released his soft hold on her pelt, a mistake he would quickly regret. By letting go, he had nothing to hold him forward, and so he fell on his back into the pile of siblings below. Paws straining out in an attempt to grab hold of something, he let out a sulking whimper and embraced himself in pity. "Please?"

Oh boy. Here we go, and how very exciting <3

<blockquote><font style='margin-left:20px;'>It was not the bright, beaming rays of sunlight that he had awoken to, but the incessant ramblings of his brother. <i>Mama</i> this, <i>Mama</i> that...With one terribly heavy, sleepy eye open, his gaze would land on Nios' yapping mouth as the dark boy pranced at the den mouth. For a moment he seriously considered retreating back to his dreams, but that was before he concluded that there would be no more sleep this morning if yapper-face was up for the day. Just as soon as his head lifted from the earthen, dusty ground he was charged and ready to go.</font>

<font style='margin-left:20px;'>A tiny stretch of his neck and hindlegs was all the preparation he would need - to land a giant, big-brother pounce square on Nios' head, and not before purposefully trampling across Vaeta, either. With all the agility a one-month-old could possibly harbor, the young athlete hauled it across the den in the direction of his target, leaving his mother and sister behind in a cloud of dust. After stumbling over his own feet the entire way, it was with a mindless fervor that he launched himself straight onto his brother's back, grabbing hold of a tiny, triangle ear to keep from toppling all the way over him. What a waste that would be.</font>

<font style='margin-left:20px;'><i>"Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!"</i> I wasn't until he was satisfied with his not-so-sneaky sneak-attack that the strapping young Tainn fully processed just exactly what Nios was going on about...Leaving the den?! Well, that sounded pretty awesome, actually, though he would never give his littermate the satisfaction of knowing he supported the idea. With a quick glance in mother's direction, he decided he would prefer it if <i>daddy</i> took them out for the day, to do <i>boy</i> things, things which there was <i>no</i> way Vaeta could do, of course. Nonetheless, they would never get out of here unless they harped on about it, so he feverishly began ranting himself.</font>

<font style='margin-left:20px;'><b>"Oh, PLEASE, mom? Can we PLEASE go outside?!"</b> He managed to stomp Nios' head into the ground with a hind leg as he bounced back to Aeylen.</blockquote></font>

If only she was born an only child. The nagging and the purposeful kicks and tramples of her two brothers were enough for her to wish so. If she really thought about it, it could almost start to feel real. She could have mother and father all to herself, their warmth and love. She'd be one doted child, having whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. Life could be a breeze, but life wasn't working in her favor. With Mirren's trample over her, making her head shove into the ground, she decided that it was time to get the day started, once she got those two buggers back.

Her delicate muzzle let out a big yawn, a yawn that threatened to break her muzzle in two. She stretched her awkward spinals of legs, arching her back like a cat before getting up on all fours. She looked over at her brothers fighting at the den entrance. What idiots. She pranced over to her mother, leaping up to lick her face a few times. She soon settled down by her side, looking over at her brothers with the evil eye. Soon enough, she'd get them back for waking her up so early, but their rantings were falling on interested ears.

"Please, Mama? We've been stuck in here for ages." She exaggerated. "It's been TORTURE... She then stood on her hind legs, placing her paws on her mother's side to try to give her mother the famous puppy face. Her similar almond shaped eyes, but fiery orange stared at her mother, attempting at winning her over with her beauty.

<blockquote>No mother was more proud than she was. The many days that had passed since the birth of her children were both heartfelt and eventful, and until now she had spent most of her time feeding and admiring the young souls who grew stouter with each rising sun. This morning was different, though. It was time for the children to be relocated to the pack den and to become acquainted with their pack mates, and weren't they ready? If there had been a question in her mind about it, the answer existed in their tiny if not bold voices as they pleaded, each in their own perfectly adorable ways. A smile was her return to them as she considered the matter.

As Mirren bounded closer, the shewolf would reach to extend her affection to the beautiful daughter who stood with tiny forepaws against her side. She was by no means weak of mind, but if she'd wanted to tell them 'no,' she simply could not. And today she would not. Today, the heirs of Copper Rock Creek would be freed of their toturous confinement. Lowering her head to get a level view of them, she consented to their wishes.

<b>"Of course we can leave the den, darling,"</b> she cooed to Vaeta before smiling wide to her sons. The tawny leadess was perhaps as excited as they were to be back 'home' and in the company of those she considered her friends and family. With the new addition to the pack and summertime foliage to hide them all on their way, she was sure they would be safe and sound on the way. <b>"Ready?"</b> she asked softly and with enthusiasm as she took a few steps to the entrance, poking her head out to get a good look around before taking the first step out. She wouldn't miss it at all, not yet.

The morning sunlight was warm upon her stiff back, and a gentle breeze rolled over the grasses just so. Her pace was slow and steady as she headed toward the creek that they would follow home.</blockquote>

Unlike birth, where Mirren had beaten him out of the womb, he was determined to claim bragging rights for this one. As soon as his mother had stood, he had raced after, sprinting around her paws eagerly. He wasn’t hungry, which was a shock. He was always hungry. His bright pink tongue hung out of his mouth, panting so quick it was little more than a blur. He envied his sister’s beauty. While his limbs often got tangled up, stuck out, and made clumsiness an inevitable embarrassment most times, every movement she made was worthy of an Oscar. The young boy was jealous of Mirren too. There didn’t seem to be much of a reason, expect brotherhood at its best, playful competition between boys. Nios was flexible, figuring he was lacking the real hardy manly figure. He was lean, but not feminine. His body was stretched out, the muscles rippling over his back-legs and back most. Of course he was still a child, there was much to develop, but he did not compare with Mirren’s strength.

His smile stretched from one floppy ear to the other, irresistible charm just radiating off each step he took. The closer he got, the more he trembled in excitement. His entire body reacted to sunlight the way a dog reacts to a treat. He wanted to experience everything, but once he made it, the boy did become a little uneasy. His stomach and mind demanded he go back and let his older brother do the investigating. That way, if there was a predator, it’d get him first, and Nios would be safe. Of course, it was only his imagination which allowed such an event to play through. Nios would never sit by if there was a predator.

He glimpsed over his shoulder, judging how far away his siblings were. If he wanted to be first, he had to keep moving, so he did. It was not slow and cautious, nor was it timid and fearful. The boy ran head-first into the unknown, ears dancing in the wind, entire face in awe. It was only the bright lights which slowed him down, his eyes couldn’t adjust that much so quickly, and he was left blinking in anger. This, matched with his speed, was not a good mix for a pup so uncoordinated. A moment with buggy eyes closed, and paws never slowing down, a claw snagged on a rock and he tumbled. He didn’t squeal in surprise, it hadn’t been a surprise. He had prepared himself for tripping, for the evil world to grab hold of his leg and pull him to the ground. He didn’t have far to fall, but he had the momentum to make a scene out of it. The scamp didn’t just tumble, he rolled, head to the ground in an awkward and unorganized summersault, tail wagging dramatically. When he was sitting upright his head spun, his body was swaying unnaturally, tongue lolling from the very corner of his dirty brown muzzle, his entire body clumped in mud.

The child was a character, an entertainer, someone who enjoyed the spotlight and could turn an embarrassing moment into a blockbuster film. He was so memorized by the outside world he had forgotten to get sympathy from his mother, a task he enjoyed very much. A task he did not enjoy, was bathing. While Vaeta always looked elegant, and Mirren was a very handsome and role-model pup, Nios would rather bite off a leg than have his mother’s tongue wash away any gunk holding patches of brown fur together. It was understandable, something about his exterior just demanded being unkempt and scruffy. That fall had been just what he needed. "This is outside?" His nose wiggled, taking in the scents, staring up at his mother unsurely. "Is there more?"

Ruiko Tainn
Ruiko came around the corner, his eyes falling upon the red accents of his mate’s beautiful features. Today was a big day for his family, and he felt a pang that Kinis would not be here to witness it. Today they would introduce their children officially to the pack, and with a wink to Aeylen as Nios was the first to pop out, the large regal dropped the pheasant he had captured earlier, his eyes prying in to the darkness of the whelping den to see if Mirren and Vaeta were on their brother’s heel.

At his darker son’s comment, Ruiko gave a sardonic snort. “Back to the den then, if it’s so boring,” he mused with a low, rumbling tease before stalking forward to greet his son. Bending his muzzle down, the Leader cast a gentle nip to the boy’s ear before smoothing his tongue affectionately over Nios’ crown. Glancing up, the large male gave a nudge to his mate, wondering how nervous she was to introduce them to such a large world. “Mirren? Vaeta?” His tone became gentler then; a tone that was only drawn from the stoical male by his progeny. He had no doubt the other two would pop out of the confinement of the den any moment now; they had been bugging their parents for ages to explore ‘outside.’

<blockquote>The childlike charade he'd so masterfully put on to gain his mother's favor was swiftly dismantled as he turned his pale eyes upon his brother, who was now sauntering his way...<i>outside?! Seriously?</i> Nios had managed to one-up him on the first day out of their dingy prison? The scowl tailored to the boy's face was set in stone, telling of his plans for revenge, as he - with eyes wide open - completely dismissed mother's and sister's presence. He had been unprepared this time, but he certainly would <i>not</i> let his kid brother reap all the wheat today. Never.

It was as though hell had opened up and spat a fireball straight up his rear end as his legs scrambled to pull and push his round figure forward and toward Nios, ears flattened in a fit of rage against his skull. He didn't care if his pursuit lacked stealth or prowess, or if his brother heard him coming...he was going to rip his head clear off! Especially if he didn't quit harping on and on <i>and on</i> with his ludicrous questions.

That is...until the most awesome sight he'd ever seen came into view. He was the epitome of everything Mirren aspired and craved to be, more than a figure of authority or regality. It was <i>his father</i>, the king of all the world, power itself. He nearly tripped over himself as his body went nearly limp with awe. In an instant the thought of Nios' accomplishment vanished from his mind, now blank as he gulped down the last traces of saliva in his hanging jaw.

The boy studied his father intensely before attempting to mimmick his every...thing. He would clench his jaws together, raising his head and shoulders high and not without puffing out his chest like a body-building rooster. A black-tipped tail would arch over his back until...a giant smile erupted from beneath the serious facade, and the eldest son hauled it to his father's feet.

<b>"I don't think it's boring, daddy!"</b> he beamed.</blockquote>

Ruiko Tainn
His rumbling quip hushed Nios of his questions – for now – and an amused smirk pressed to his creamy jowls as Mirren piped up, emerging from the den. Soon followed by Vaeta, Ruiko allowed his eyes to regard each child, unable to contain the pride that welled in his chest. Beautiful, each of them. Strong, proud and most important, kind. They were young, but they were learning, and the tawny male was anxious for his children to meet the rest of the pack – for they would also teach them as they grew.

“Straighten up then,” he teased them all, his muzzle swinging down to nudge each of them with affection. Pulling back, his bright amber eyes drifted from them to Aeylen, noting she was ready before his muzzle swung back, his summoning howl for the rest of the pack to join them echoing through the foliage of the Creek.

As his song died down, Ruiko shifted himself to sit down, waiting for their companions to arrive. His eyes would slide back to his young every so often, gauging their reaction as each Creek wolf emerged from the lush bushes. It was a day to be celebrated, and Ruiko Tainn could not have been more proud as his children met their pack mates.. nor more sad, as a pang of sadness hit his chest at the memory of Kinis and his first day among his siblings and family.

As the pack came, Ruiko made the introductions, rising to his paws to greet each member and offer them a nudge to their cheek in welcome. Copper Rock Creek was family.
