Shadowstorm couldn't bear it anymore. The only kind wolf she'd talk to was Nina. Kashi tried to, but it seemed like he never let his edge down around Shadow. She'd tried to make peace, but it seemed impossible. She started for the border, her leg fully healed. She would try and get into the pack of Grizzly Hollow. Hopefully Follko had meant it when he said he would help. She'd need all the help she could get. She snuck out of the den, trying not to wake a soul as she continued forward. She knew a few basic herbs, but not enough as if she were to break her leg again. No, then she'd be dead for sure. Copper Rock Creek would not offer they're kindness again surely, and the other packs, she did not know well enough as to whether they would help of not.

As she left, she remembered that she did have a friend, Kyrie. They fae promised she'd be there with her help whenever Shadow needed it. But it also reminded her of the horrific nightmare she had that night. Shadowstorm was in her own personal hell. She was alone, trapped in a cave that had no exit. She was stuck with her dad. She was leader of a pack and stuck with her dad which made it worse. Her dad was her worst nightmare. He talked, was the only one capable of moving his jaws. The only one who could move. She stiffened with fright for a moment of two. Before she knew it, her entire body frozen. She had a sort of body lock. Her father lunged after a long speech on how much of disgrace she'd brought to the Slayer line. He'd given her the last name Coaten for further disgrace. Turns out her father was once known as Coaten. Born into a pack, found the name a disgrace and connected it with packs. He attacked her while her body was still locked in place. Attacking, and maiming her. Until she was barely alive. He spat on her and walked away proud now of his work. Going to find Shade. She still couldn't speak. Her head screaming thoughts to keep him away from Shade. Then she had woken to be scared out of her skin by Kyrie right next to her, waking her up."Speech goes between these."

She had been happy to be home, but emptiness still stayed in her chest, her heart beating rapidly as she sat on the opposite side of the border. She was finally home, but worried thoughts about what had happened to her pack mates echoed in her head. What had happened to them whilst she had been gone? Would Ruiko and Aeylen be okay with her disappearance? Her head hunt low, her one good eye no longer shining with its usual brightness. . .now it was just a dull thing, just like an echo of her former self. She wouldn’t be surprised if no one recognized her. When she returned, she knew she didn’t even smell of Copper Rock Creek, she smelled distastefully of another pack. It was one of the reasons she was no rolling on the ground near the border, as if trying to roll off all of her scent left off from the other pack. The paw steps of another caused her ears to prick, and her nose quickly lifted towards the direction and she inhaled deeply. Her patient. . .all thoughts of Shadowstorm had flown out the forest, and she briefly wondered if she had recovered or not.

Her body lifted off of the ground and her new limpy descent started from behind the borders. Her head lifted high, in dominance, not that she should be showing it much, but she had missed being apart of a pack and being something. When she made her way towards her friend her emerald eye darkened in the blackness of night and her voice rang clear, "Shadowstorm, what are you doing out so late?" Her eye narrowed in suspicion. . .when she had been looking over the smaller female she hadn’t been one to sneak out in the middle of the night. . .and Nina already knew this. She had been the one staying up after hours, watching the whole pack, making sure they were all alright. Her tail lashed behind her slightly, her slightly larger form easily framed in the darkness. She sighed in admittance to her own exhaustion, and her blood shot eye stared at Shadowstorm in question.

Shadowstorm turned with the slightest hiss, seeing Nina. Shit, now she would have to explain to her healer, her situation. This aught to be fun! She gulped a bit. "I-I was just.... leaving." She said, she could not lie to her healer. No, she'd just gained some respect from the fae. "I'm sorry, but here I-I just fit in. I made a bad first impression here and cannot gain anyone's trust back. I have no way to earn it. I-I thought I could handle being in a pack, but I was wrong. I'm afraid I'm a lone wolf at heart." She explained, so she lied a bit, but Nina did not need to know of Follko's offer to join Grizzly Hollow. Not even Shade knew her plans.

A haunt in her eyes as she zoned out a bit. "My tale isn't heroic, or nice as your history I'm sure. But I'll tell you anyways since you're my friend. I was born to adestinct pair of Lone Wolves that to be honest. Hated other wolves. My brother Shade and I started training to survive in a place far from Relic Lore called Death Pine Forest. The first lesson my father taught us, even though I now, after seeing the strength of packs, was Packs are weak, bottomfeeding losers that couldn't take care of themselves, so they hung together and shared food. He specifically told us never to join a pack, or we would taint our blood line. MY brother tried to object as he was the more reasonable one, my father beat him. I tried to get him to stop, he beat me. My father was a cruel, mean steel wall. Whenever I did something wrong, he beat me as a punishment. My mother eventually stepped in, conquering her fear of my father. She was too beaten. It got worse. During my final 'test' , a hunting assignment before I was to go off an live my life. My mother and fahter were attacked by a group of two or three lone wolves. Out of fright, I ran for his life. I thought all my family to be dead. My grandparents gone. My father was an only child, same as my mum as far as I know, I thought my brother Shade was in dead. But truth is he joined a pack called Willow Ridge. Odd, after all these years, he went against my father's teachings. By the end of our lessons. He was set on the goal of never being in a pack ever. "

She felt like she had just been re-clawed in the face by her brother again, or her leg popped out by Athena. It was as if she were being betrayed. Her heart clenched in her chest as it started beating faster. Her pupils got smaller in slight disappointment and fear coated its way from head to tail tip. Why had she come back at such a bad time. . .in the exact moment one was leaving them? Her jaw then clenched in anger. Nina had helped her so that she live because she had wanted to be in a pack. Talk about bi-polar. . .though when she thought about it, her nerves calmed down though. . .and she was just sad. Her emerald eye watched Shadow in the dull light, no sign of the former life that they held in them. Once again, it would take time for her to have the joy she had once possessed.

Her head moved away her jaws parted the sky and she let out an ear piercing howl, signaling her return, as well as giving away her location to the other. Perhaps they would have something to say to Shadowstorm. She didn’t care of the stench that covered her pelt as thoroughly, all that mattered now was that she saw one of her friends again and they witnessed what was about to happen. Once her head lowered she spoke to Shadowstorm, "I am sure you will remember the lessons I taught you then, Miss Slayer." Her tone became business like, no form of friendliness or hostility in her speech. They were just straight forward and mono-tone. Her tail lashed once behind her, formalities in place. Though her words had hidden meaning behind them. The ones that were saying, I told you. . .trust was not something easy to gain. The words echoed out the back of her mind as she waited for the older lady to respond.

Shadowstorm could never forget those lessons. She teared up a bit as she spoke to the healer she considered her friend. "Nina, I could never forget your lessons, or all your pack has done for me, but I hope you understand, I have to go Nina, it's not about trust anymore, I can't stay here.." She dipped her head in respect for the healer.

How could she leave the wolves who healed her? She had too, she wasn't a packmate, just a lonely stray that they took in, Ruiko couldn't trust her, could barely tolerate her. She tried to prove herself when she was at the border with Skana and Elettra, but he didn't seem to like that, why? What was wrong with her? She did have a secret, but no one knew. A pained and worried look in her eye. She was scared, much like when she had broken her leg.

Nina would not understand what she was going through, no one would. She shielded her heart for a reason, a shielded heart cannot be broken. Her first lesson when she'dcame here. She'd grown to close to Copper Rock Creek, it was time to depart "Speech goes between these."

Destin McBain
ooc; hope this is alright!

Soon after dusk had fallen, Destin had succumbed to sleep nearby the other wolves. He stayed as close by as he could to them just to be safe. His recurring nightmares of the pain from when he had first found Copper Rock had returned to him once more, as it did almost every night. Somehow it seemed that the dream was fading or disappearing into a fog. Though it would eternally remain in his memory, it hurt less. He recalled his lucid state barely now, remembering the winged angels who had saved him, and especially Nina, the healer who had helped him on his journey to recovery and remained in his memory. It had been a long and painful process, but he fought off the infection and was now well again. If he moved his leg in a particular way it still gave him a slight ache and he knew its scar would remain as a reminder forever, but otherwise he had escaped from the incident unscathed. Not the dreams though, which he mentioned to none.

And it was a howl which awoke him at midnight. His eyes opened almost instantly, and it took him a moment for his eyes to adjust so he could see in the darkness. His ears caught the sound of the last note of the message before it faded into the night. Yawning to keep the sleep away, he felt compelled to just close his eyes and fall back asleep. But what if this was important? Or what if the dream came back? Destin shivered at the thought. He did not recognize this howl, but it felt slightly familiar. Standing up heavily, he found a way out of his sleeping spot and attempted to follow the message. Trotting slightly faster now, he soon found himself in the presence of two wolves. Female, it seemed. One was black with striking blue eyes, the other a light brown with scars across her body, one eye shut and the other green wide open. He wrought his memories in order to understand, feeling like he knew this wolf once and that she was important to him somehow. The scent he did not recognized, it was layered with another smell that was not like Ruiko or the other wolves of Copper Rock Creek.

There was a tension in the air that he had not felt in what seemed like an eternity (of which he was glad!) It was so great it almost made him want to <span class='word'>quail</span> away and quickly escape, running back to his den to sleep and forget about it. It wasn't often that Destin was confronted with such things, and he barely knew how to respond to them. Much more a timid wolf despite his large stature, the male was a true softy at heart. He stayed though, wanting to understand why his paws had brought him here. Wanting to remember who these wolves were. Were his memories fading since his incident? The thought scared him. He remained silent.

Another was leaving them. First Kanosak, Volkan, and now Shadowstorm. . . Had they done something wrong. . .or had they not been doing something right?? She partially blamed herself for it all. . .she had been the one that was suppose to have stayed with her the whole time she was within the pack, and she had failed to do so. Her heartbeat started racing slightly and her head bowed in sadness. She was truly upset her patient was leaving the boundaries. But just as soon as she would have thought, the scent of yet another patient filtered through her nose. . . Destin. She had not seen him in awhile since she had healed him from the bear attack and was curious as to how his injuries had mended. Her head turned towards her friend, a kind, sad smile on her face. And she would greet him attentively, "Destin. . .how are you mending since our last healing session?"

All thoughts that the last time the pair had seen each other blew out of her mind. She had been in tip top shape last time they had seen each other. She didn’t have a scarred over eye or a broken leg. She had been a golden beauty then and now. . .she was just. . .Nina. Her tail wagged once behind her, and she was almost sure she had accidentally touched the small black lady behind her. . .but it remained unsure. Hopefully he wouldn’t be telling her that he too was leaving. Otherwise the stress might just have weighed down on her back even more than was needed. Her head hung slightly, as if she were being defeated by her brother once more, but her eye held a small glint of interest within them. How was he doing?

Destin McBain
(I'll just post here since it's been a while)

For a moment he just stood there in silence, just staring at the female wolf who somehow knew his name. This wolf knew him, she looked so familiar yet... so different. Then it finally dawned on him, this was <i>Nina.</i> How could she looked so different than she did the last time they had been together? How could something like this happen? She was a healer, but she couldn't even heal herself. Destin even noticed the sad air about her, it was like the whole situation was drenched in it. Nevertheless, the male wolf grinned and bounded forward towards the female wolf. He pushed his nose into her fur comfortingly. <b>"Nina! It is great to see you again!"</b> Stepping back, he looked at her, still smiling. <b>"I am great! I'm eternally in your debt for how you helped me so... And I will stay by your side. It's been too long!"</b> His golden gaze shifted towards the dark female that stood nearby. He still did not know how to react to the situation he had gotten himself into, and stood uncertainly to see if Nina would respond. If something bad was going on, he didn't really want to be a part of it and it wasn't his business to get involved either. Destin's gaze then slid back towards the green-eyed female before him and he smiled again. It really had been too long! Even though it took him a moment to remember, when he did he couldn't figure out how he could have ever forgotten!

When he approached and buried his in her shoulder she had to restrain herself not to flinch away, and instead nuzzled the boy in return nicely on the shoulder. When he stepped back, her own shoulders rolled back, and her eye watched the male carefully. He had recovered quite well from the bear attack(of her own doing) and she was quite pleased with the outcome. He was quite healthy for a guy who was attacked by a bear, and truthfully, Nina was quite surprised he had lived. Her healing tactics didn’t seem to have failed her for this young male. Her tail wagged slightly behind her, in an attempt to balance herself when she was with the two wolves. She knew that both of them were not apart of the pack yet, and that Shadowstorm never would, but both smelled heavily of her home pack. She couldn’t wait until her own stench would once again smell like home.

Her throat cleared gently and her voice called out softly, "What are your plans on where to go, Destin?" She was curious as to where the man was going, for she wanted to know where the man was going so that she could keep tabs on him. Even though most of her patients always left her in a harsh way, she was completely fine with it. She would still keep an eye and ear open for them no matter what and would always be on stand by if they would ever need her in the future. She did not know what she would do if they all treated her the same way though. . .she probably wouldn’t ever want to be a healer. . .though the thought was still highly doubtful.

Shadow was puzzled with confusion, but then again, she had no more quarrels with pack issues. She simply gave a slight nod and disappeared into the night, towards the hollow belonging to Follko's pack. Her plan, her glorious plan would hopefully succeed. But leaving brought back the nightmares, the daydreams. This was war.
