It's Time to Begin, Isn't It...

Blaze's eyes narrowed at the sight of a vole. He was one of those wolves to completely ignore scent markings for the pack. He crouched down, stalking it carefully. He had no one to hunt with so he went for the smaller prey. The only way to get bigger prey, he thought, was to be in a pack. He only looked for strong packs. Strong packs to rule them all. Those who aren't afraid of a little fire to they're life. He leapt at it landing on it after he'd raced forward. He bit it's neck killing it. He had gone well past the border line to Swift River territory. But he really didn't give a fuck.

He took the vole mouthful by mouthful. He needed to be ready to fight at any moment. that was how he lived, fight after fight. Place after place, it was who he was. It was time to begin, wasn't it? No one understood that he was never changing who he was. It annoyed him they expected him to completely change who he was. He was the one who tried to use charm on the ladies, who liked to fight with his arrogance and short temper. If they had a problem with it, they should learn to live with disappointments. "I'm never changing who I am." He told himself as he stood up scenting around for more prey. Bones at his feet. Winter was approaching, soon he'd actually have to try to find prey.

All the leaves had finally fallen, tree bark blackened, and everything covered in a white land of snow. Paw steps of different sizes were imprinted in the white ground, making it easy to find pack mates if it was a dire need to find one immediately without making a sound. One set of paw prints would send one of the girls reeling though…they were not of the pack and the scent was still fresh. It could of seemed as if they were chasing something considering the way the snow was flushed together. Anger tipped in the back of her tired, sad mind. No one should have trespassed on their territory. She was sure that the borders were heavily marked, thanks to Marsh, Ice, and some of the other guardians within the pack. Her fur easily blended into the winter wonderland as she stalked forward, keeping as silent as she could…an easy task as a huntress. Her emerald eyes continued on the scent tail, and just when she got close enough the fresh scent of blood awakened her. That should have been her prey…Swift River’s meal.

Anger climbed up in the pit of her stomach and into her heart as the oblivious wolf came into view. Hatred laced her every move… Hatred at the world for everything, hatred of Indru leaving them, and most of all hatred to the one in front of her who thought he could trespass without getting an ass whooping from Jessie. The male seemed to be bigger than her…and perhaps even more well fed then her, but her strategy and speed would be an easy attribute within her. The mix-matched eyes in front of her did not distract her as she stepped forward an angry snarl escaping her tattered muzzle, “What the fuck are you doing on Swift River lands?” Her muscles tensed a bark erupting from out of her muzzle. She had not been able to participate in the scuffle between Marsh and Rhysis…but now she was the only one in front of this male, and she was going to fight. He had trespassed and hunted on her territory. This would not be stood for.

Blaze growled as a female came into view and challenged him. didn't he just comment that he didn't give a fuck? Oh wait, no that was in his head. "Get away from me. You have no idea who your messing with." He challenged her back. He circled her and looked for weak points. She obviously called him out for a challenge, at least that's how he took it. He chuckled a bit too. Swift River eh? Sounded like a weak pack. He never really liked rivers, or being swift. He liked strategy and force. But hey, he guessed speed played a little part in strategy.

He looked ready to leap at her at any moment. This lady deserved no charm. She was no lady in fact. She swore, ladies don't swear, they act like mothers and take care of things while the men go out and hunt and fight. the men defend the ladies, and that was the nature of life. So she could fucking deal with it. He waited for her to make the first move. Blaze hated other wolves.

you do not know who is your friend
or who is your enemy
until the   ICE breaks.
Snow. It felt like home. It felt like - like everything bitter and painful, edging his world in the same frame of jarring, jagged heartache that had prevailed since encountering Brenton. Everything was wrong, and when the snow had come, falling softly across the world... he remembered things he wished he didn't; the painful grip of his father's teeth on his scruff, the frigid glacial wind whipping the warmth from his bones. The warm, tender lover of his mother - his three silly brother, bundled together. Doing mischief. The scorn of the elders. If it was one thing that had marked him forever, it was that sense of being an outcast in your own family: that those who ought to love you, didn't. His careless way of going about life, not quite stopping to think or feel, was a product of it: if he probed too deeply, he only found tender bruises, and life with that kind of pain nagging at his mind was a lot more cumbersome to get through. But these days - he felt confused, lost, alone, and in some twisted, silly sense, abandoned. By who or what he had no idea, just that it was a hollow, bitter ache, like gall in the back of his mouth. Listless and apathetic he'd kept away from the pack, but never out of the Grove, just drifting along like a snow ghost. He fit in well, with his faint silver mottling: nearly impossible to see. It was easy to hide.

But the wind blew a scent to him that made another one-second shift in his mood: from that drifter, to a creature of rage. It smelled far too much, far too close, of loner, and tinged with blood. Jessie's scent came to him as well, a flash of anger on it - even if she'd brought a loner home, she surely wouldn't have taken it beyond the borders. She was smarter than that. So only one option remained: trespass. Memories of Mist and Kegan, who had trespassed too, flashed into his head. No questions asked, he and Marsh had relentlessly driven them out of the Grove.

He'd do the same, now.

Lips peeled back, baring bone-white teeth to the winter landscape. A growl rumbled in his chest, and waiting only a second more to make sure he'd go in the right direction, Ice sprinted off. He'd grown up on snow; it felt good to have its chill under his pads again, the unyielding click of blunt claws against ice. As he ran, he caught the sound of Jessie's challenging bark, and his own head tipped back, releasing a hoarse call for the pack: it's time to hunt. The empty, vaguely painful frustration had morphed into anger: tangible, overpowering, filling him up with heat. He didn't stop. Didn't ask questions. Blaze's crime was unforgivable: he just hoped Jessie would join in. Swift River's two remaining pups were too precious to risk to the whims of a mad loner. No longer terribly small, but inexperienced, probably no good in a real fight against a mad wolf. Howling with fury and rage, the pale beast barreled out of the surrounding trees, a flash of silver-streaked white across the carpet of snow. Teeth hungry for his flesh and blood, Ice tucked his head to protect his own throat, and flew at the loner: his right front leg moved up, to try and hook across his back, while his jaws snapped for Blaze's left eye or ear, seeking to latch on and rip his skin open.

Her eyes sharpened once more when he started moving around her, and Jessie matched his pace, perhaps even faster. A vicious snarl escaped her mouth at his words before she spoke again, "Let me rephrase that. Get the fuck out of my territory now, you bastard. Do you not have a nose?" Her growl was intimidating, her head instinctively covering her throat, her fangs exposed at this loner. She would give him one more chance…well, she was going to, until the long call of Ice rooted itself into the core of her brain. Hunt the howl had said…she was just hunting. She flung herself forward, her fast legs taking her around him quickly as she tried to latch onto his back leg. If she would succeed then her would tighten her grip, knowing that the strongest muscles in her body were in her jaw.

No sooner that she had leapt did Ice make it presence now, and a snarl echoed in her throat. Her head guardian toppled into view, ready to defend the pack with his life. The pups were still nestled within the territory and Jessie would not allow their well being to be risked by a loner. If she had indeed gotten her hold, she would then release, rearing onto her back legs and slamming her weight towards the ground, only hoping that her paws would slam into his back while Ice continued his attacks. Would more pack mates arrive? Where was Marsh?

<b style="font-size:30px;padding-right:3px;">"Let me rephrase that, go away bitch. I'm not leaving." He snarled leaping at her, his eyes in a fury of anger and emotion. No way he'd let anyone, especially not a girl, kick him out of somewhere. Pack or no pack. His eyes aimed for her leg, but in truth, he himself was aiming for her stomach. If he could somehow slide under her, then he could use his claws to slash at her exposed stomach. It would hurt and leave a scar or two for her to remember him by. He paid no attention the the new wolf until this new wolf leapt at him. The word was full of psychos now a days wasn't it?

Blaze was no super wolf, he couldn't fend them both off, so when he leapt at Jessie, he tried to angle himself in defense against Ice. He yowled as Ice hit him and hit his side. If he had jumped any later, then Ice would have nailed him in the face. So it was a good thing. This ended up making him fail the ground. His eyes full of fury he looked for something exposed on Ice to bite. He went for a slash on the belly.

He fought ever battle like it was his last. He was determined that this wouldn't be his last. His eyes blazed with anger as he wanted to go limp and give up. But his mind wouldn't let him. It tried to coax him into fighting more. In some ways, it calmed his mind and made his anger subside. But in other ways, he was dead meat and he knew it.

you do not know who is your friend

until the   ICE breaks.
The momentary satisfaction of being larger than his prey was brief, fleeting, but pleasing all the same. If it was one thing he was naturally good at, it was being huge. With all his white fur on end and his tail a dominant flag, he seemed to grow even larger, though somehow his furious, pale eyes and bared teeth outshone every other menace his body spoke of. Jessie was already in motion when he appeared, and approval registered in the chaos before it, too was burned away in the fires of his rage. Empty but for that roaring flame, that overwhelming need to drive his teeth into the living body of another, Ice found that his target bounced aside, as if to overtake the smaller Jessie, but he was not left wanting: mostly fur found itself between his jaws as he forced them close, the disgusting smell of the loner's body all up in his sensitive nose. Growling, a rumble deep in his chest, Ice planted all four legs firmly, and with the strength of his thick neck pulled backwards, trying to tear out what fur and skin he had a hold of, even as the male fell over from the impact. The Guardian loosened his grip somewhat, allowing his victim's weight to pull himself out of Ice's grip; a sadistic smirk curled up the corners of his mouth. It was a foreign sensation, to enjoy hurting someone so mindlessly, and the pleasure of allowing the wolf's own weight to forcefully drag him from Ice's grip? Something about it was so sick and twisted he wanted to run away inside, but at the same time, it felt so good...

There was no time to stop and think, to wonder and ponder and grow afraid of himself. A fight was no place for stragglers, and surprisingly light on his feet the thick wolf sprang back a foot or so from Blaze's blunt claws and snapping teeth. Only for a moment did he allow the cool winter air to be between them, to separate him and his fangs from the body on the ground; the anger yearned to be closer, and with another snarl of mindless rage did Ice spring forward again. His head was tucked low, defending his sensitive throat, as he tried to drive his mouth down, jaws open wide, to grab Blaze across the muzzle: a common gesture of dominance, but here, a means to destroy. For should he get his grip across the extended part of the loner's skull, Ice would not hesitate: he would, mercilessly and swiftly, crush every bone between his teeth until nothing but a bloodied, fleshy mess remained in his mouth.

Dark thoughts filled Jessie’s mind, her emerald eyes darkening as she snarled at the loner who was now leaping for her. She immediately reared back, landing on her back, but not before claws easily ripped into the skin near her chest before leaving her. Blood slowing dripped from the wound, a small growl of annoyance leaving her muzzle. She knew she was going to bleed. It was a fact. She was so tiny…she didn’t have any weight compared to the male in front of her, but in the meantime, she didn’t care. He needed to die for trespassing on Swift River territory. Ice seemed to be doing quite well with the male, but the taste of blood was already on her tongue…and she wanted more. It was as if she was possessed when she drew forward, hoping that the male was distraction by Swift River’s loyal second.

There was no hesitation within Jessie as she dived for the male’s exposed stomach, her paw driving forward to dig into the other’s stomach. She was so angry, adrenaline was pulsing through her, and even with the sharp sting in her chest, she still felt compelled to fight. The natural born killer in her screeched at her, begging her to go for the throat and crush the other’s windpipe. The pull was so strong, but her course of direction did not change, her paw was already swiping towards his belly and Jessie sincerely hoped that she would get her revenge.

(288 WORDS)
Blaze growled, his muzzle snapping open and shut over and over and over again. He went over for a bite on Ice's muzzle as Ice tried to do to his. But then Jessie came at him full speed. He had to think, he had an idea too. He thought and thought, then finally determined. He went, using his hind legs to push on Ice's belly to push him off. He went to bite Jessie. But she clawed his belly. It wasn't as deep as he predicted, which was a good thing. He slowly got up, and he growled. He would deal with them, but another time. He ran with the energy he could from the fight. <b>”Mark my words, I'll be back. You may have won this fight, but you won't win next time.”</b> He growled with narrowed eyes. He limped across the border. He wasn't stupid enough to go and fight when he knew he would die.

Blaze went and licked his wounds, staring at them one last time. Remembering they're faces, the territory, the scents. He'd be back and larger then life. But first he had to find a healer. He'd find one too. He had his eyes on a lagoon. Or a lake, something with a mass of water. If he found it he could soak his wounds and maybe heal himself. He found herbs tedious, but that didn't stop him from learning the very basics. He knew that they were the difference between life and death.

Just so you know, Namara, Ice isn't going to let Blaze go so easily, so I'd prefer if you didn't try to bolt and pretend you get away with is, as you don't know what Ice and Jessie are going to do. :)

you do not know who is your friend
or who is your enemy
until the   ICE breaks.
Teeth came for his own nose, snapping at his lips and bony fangs; the noise of them snapping together echoed mostly through his skull, his blunt claws digging into the snowy terrain for balance as he reversed his motion. No way he was going to sacrifice his own head, and he leaned back, pulling his muzzle out of reach as the loner rolled up after Jessie had poked him in the stomach. Why claws, his mind wondered, dimly, feeling the shape of the ground beneath his cool pads. Claws were blunt; they were no good as weapons, years of running across stone and grass and root wearing them blunt. Teeth were better. Teeth were sharper, had more force behind them, but he had no time to question her choice of weapon now. They had a prey to focus on and bring down.

The moment the male tried to bolt, the moment his legs twitched in a direction that wasn't here, Ice struck - merciless, unharmed, pumped full of adrenaline that heightened his reflexes and blocked out the world. Eradicated by his fury, once more on that high of bloodlust, his head whipped out like a snake as his larger body shot into motion. The other male was limping from the wound Jessie had given him; Ice didn't want to let him leave, alive. With open jaws he lunged for the wounded male, intending to latch onto any part of his body he could find: preferably a hock, but the tail or any other part of him would do. If he got a grip on the male's flesh, he wouldn't let go; he'd bite down, hard, and dig all his paws into the ground, to force the smaller loner to a stop. And if he wouldn't get a grip, he'd keep hunting, trying to use his larger bulk to forcibly push the loner over. With the wound and the limp, Ice should be able to keep up.. and even if he couldn't, Jessie was faster than him; hopefully she'd not be content to let him go, just like that.
