Lost Lake Her rumors

Eva's ears perked up as Ash replied. Once again she felt confused. All of her life she wished she had a father, and had even gone far enough to attempt to see him, though she never did. Why would one not want to have a father? The yearling once again tried to avoid his gaze, in order to prevent these feelings from being hidden. But the words managed to escape from her jaws before she could stop them, "Not if that wolf hates you." There were many bitter feelings that she managed to convey with these six words. She didn't know if she could share these feelings with her brother, but if they were siblings weren't they supposed to be able to share everything with each other?

Then Ash spoke up about Nina. So he did know where she was? "I was entrusted with finding both of you," the girl replied to him. It would take four days? It had taken the Hervok longer to get over the mountain (or at least it seemed that way), so perhaps this adventure would be easier on her paws. She wondered why Nina had gone so far away from her brother. Maybe she just didn't like mountains? Eva was looking forward to seeing her full sister and discussing things with her. Then her quest would be completed and she could instead focus on other things- what, she did not know. Perhaps she could join a pack of her own if someone would accept her? Eva didn't know what she could bring to the table in order to become family with others, but she would try her hardest to show what she could do.

These thoughts caused her to move her gaze back to Ash and meet his for a second. She wondered what her dad had done and why Ash seemed so... frightened? Angry? Nervous?.. when she had mentioned him for the first time, and then when he spoke and said the comment he so recently made. Eva wished to become part of this family and learn the history of her siblings because this was something that she never had as a child when she so desperately just wanted to belong.

Border patrol. Not something Athena liked, but it was required of her and for everyone for that matter. Controlling the border was a must. If not, then Poison Path might meet more like the crazed Shadowstorm and the White Queen didn’t like that idea, especially with spring on its way. Spring usually meant pups, but with Tlarx gone, Athena wasn’t sure if she’d have some this year. Bella and Datura let her feel that motherly instinct, but it wasn’t the same. She didn't give birth to them, Naira did. Her attachment to them was strong, but still Athena didn’t think it would be quite the same. Indeed, she’d do anything for those two, but her mind and her body knew that with her own, true cubs, that attachment would be stronger.

As her mind wandered, so did her senses. However, the scent of Ash and another crept into her mind and soon she broke the trance that had held her. Shaking the thoughts of cubs and spring out of her head, she got back on track and made her way towards Ash and the unfamiliar female. Tail and head held high and regally, her fiery eyes looked over the female in front of her. Her coat was similar to Ash’s, but her eyes were quite peculiar. One blue and one green, similar to her burly partner’s, a mixed pair that she had not seen of recently. Stopping once she was parallel with Ash’s shoulder, she glanced over at Ash, nudging him gently in the cheek in greeting. “Who do we have here?” Athena questioned, glancing back at the small girl.

The immediate response from the small female shocked him, though he could not judge the small girl’s reactions to such a phrase, perhaps Nina would understand why Eva seemed to hold a certain grudge against her mother, as Ash did not know the woman. Twitching his ears he listened to her other answer to his question. Entrusted she was and committed as well. Nodding his head, he was just about the tilt his head and call for his White Queen, but it seemed that she would be doing her own border runs for the day. Though Ash had set up the whole schedule for such things, he relied on his queen to do patrols on her own time, as she evenly distributed each role to her liking. Dipping his head to the woman, he nuzzled her own cheek in turn when she stopped by his side. They were equals now, as Tlarx had left them, though uncomfortable with the spot, he did his job and what he needed to do to please his lady. Upon her question was his respectful response.

“Lady Athena, meet my half-sister, Eva Hervok,” he spoke to her, his tone of voice that she knew well enough. This had come to a shock to him, for he knew of siblings that had been born in his era, and briefly he had wondered of who else had been born without his knowledge. Had it really almost been four life spins since his birth, then surely there were plenty more Hervok siblings running around. With a small sigh he then continued, “She wishes to seek out Nina, and I feel it is safer if I travel with her, I need your permission first, of course.” He once again dipped his head respectfully towards the leading lady. As of yet, nothing much had happened, besides the drama with Naira and her newly formed pack. He was sure tension would rise on between the two packs, and he knew this, which was one of the reasons why he needed the firm okay from Athena to travel with his sister. Mossy green eyes stared at her, his head tilting slightly to the side, awaiting her answer.

Eva noticed the look of surprise in the eyes of her half-brother. She wasn't sure if she should elaborate on the story and whether or not Ash really wanted to know. Her own mother wasn't related to him in any way, and she was sure that the large wolf had other things to worry about than his little sister's sob story. There were a couple things that she wanted, but pity was not one of them. She was about to open her mouth to apologize for the remark when the scent of another wafted up to her nose. Whoever it was had a similar scent to Ash, and the Hervok figured it was another of this Poison Path.

As the wolf appeared Eva instinctively made herself smaller. The wolf was female and was larger than the yearling (though everyone seemed to be) but still a little smaller than Ash. Her confidence was clear from her first steps upon arrival. There was a regality around her and she held herself with a poise that Eva longed for. The female's striking orange eyes looked upon Ash before turning to this stranger, and the girl shrunk down even further as this occurred. Ash obviously recognized her, and Eva's gaze moved to him first. The two embraced and the yearling wondered if this was Ash's mate. Eva was happy for him if this was the case, he deserved to be happy if he was as nice as he seemed (which Eva believed he was).

She remained quiet as the wolf in front of her asked who she was. It was clearly a question for Ash and not herself. Ash responded by informing the female of her own name. Lady? So was she the leader of Poison Path? Eva's eyes widened in realization. So her big brother was a leader too? She felt like she was in front of royalty and even smaller than she had before. Then Ash asked something that surprised her- he wanted to leave his pack to travel with her? At first she thought she would only be traveling alone, and she didn't want him to leave his post with his mate just to bring his sister to another pack. Eva remained silent and allowed the conversation to continue without her own words and thoughts. The idea of saying something wrong in front of a queen and king terrified her.

With the introduction of Ash’s sister, her fiery eyes turned to the small girl in front of them. Her peculiar eyes were still intriguing to Athena. They were just so odd, but unique. “Hello, Eva. I am Athena Moon, leader of Poison Path. It is nice to meet another sibling of Ash’s.” She proclaimed, smiling down at the small girl. Eva must have been in a separate litter than Ash, since she looked so young. A part of her wished that she could see her brothers once again, especially Dante. Dante and her had special connection that she missed dearly. After she had left the first time when he father had apparently ‘killed’ her, she didn’t see her brothers anywhere in the pack lands when she came back for revenge. They must have left once their father killed their mother. She always knew they’d be smart enough to make the right choice, but she still wished she could have seen them before she left her homeland for the second time.

Ash wasn’t done speaking to her, apparently. As she pondered the pros and cons of letting Ash leave for the extend trip to Nina, she remembered there was something that she was meaning to do. “Yes, you may take Miss Eva to Nina, but I would like you to do something while you are there.” Looking over at Ash, she continued with her proposal. “I would like you to set an alliance with Nina’s pack and ours. I believe that should be in store.” Finishing with a brief smile, she waited for his response before she turned back towards Eva. “I wish both of you a safe trip. And dear Eva, if you’re ever in need of a home, you are always welcomed here.” Nodding a farewell towards the young girl, she turned to Ash, nuzzling his cheek gently. “Be careful and perhaps find out as much as you can about the other packs out there if you can.” Turning back towards her lake, she made her way towards her ledge where she could relax once again and look over her domain.

I am totally trying to make this work for all our time lines. :'(

The man was extremely pleased to see that Eva paid her respects to Athena quickly, though it seemed to be more out of fear than anything. It made Ash wonder if another being within the family had scared the yearling out of her coat by doing something. Flicking his ears back towards their White Queen, he nodded his head along with her words and muttering a soft affirmative at her words. Nina and his own pack would form a likely alliance…as the two packs obviously shared blood and Athena and Nina had settled their differences. Clenching his jaw, he waited for her to allow him to go, in fears that she might not. Her words brought him a light heart though and before he departed her nuzzled her shoulder before whispering to her, “Be careful, Milady, and thank you.” As she departed he turned back towards his small Hervok sibling and nodded his head to her.

Flicking his tail behind him and stepping out of the border he approached the girl, giving a small lick to her forehead before standing back up, “Alright, we have a long ways ahead of us. I suppose starting now won’t hurt us at all.” Making his way though the mountains with his sister following behind him, the two traveled. Though they traveled quickly, they had to make frequent stops so that Eva could catch her breath, he knew that once she got older she would not have the same problem as she would be now. He body was still developing and he had gone through the same stage as she. It was just a matter of time now before they would reach the bottom of the mountain and the days of travel would begin.

A hesitant smile passed over Eva's features as Athena spoke to her. Her kind words comforted the small yearling and allowed her to relax her tensed muscles slightly. The Hervok nodded to the leader's words. If she ever did need another family, this is the first place she would return to. And if the pack Ash was taking her to had an alliance with Poison Path, that meant she would be able to see both her brother and her sister! The girl's ears perked up at the thought that she would be completing her quest once and for all after all of this time and training. Maybe her mother would be proud, if she could ever see her again. Eva hoped that, somewhere, her mother would be smiling if she heard of the news. Maybe the wind would bring it along to her in a message or a vision and then she would know her daughter had not failed her.

Athena seemed to disappear as quickly as she had come. Eva was about to ask Ash about her but her brother quickly approached her and embraced her. The yearling was surprised at first, but then pushed her neck into his fur a couple seconds later. As soon as he pulled away he began speaking of the trip, and Eva stayed silent, simply listening to his words. Hopefully this journey wouldn't be as tiring as the one over the mountain. Wasn't it easier to descend than ascend, anyway? Either way the two were off almost immediately. Her brother seemed to have infinite energy while Eva had to catch her breath every once in a while. The two seemed to make good time though- the girl knew that Ash must be wanting to get back to his mate and pack as soon as possible- and with every pawstep Eva could feel her excitement grow.
