Thicket of Secrets Cut to the chase

He was glad for having come to heed the once loner's confusing howls, and hoped his effort wasn't to be in vain. Koda's look lingered on Liam, hoping to see good things in the future from the newest member, as the pack needed all the extra paws they could get for the busy summer to come. Koda turned his head slightly at Hollow's voice, a smile and a bob of his wide head that Hollow had taken up his subtle request. He was really itching to go make sure Nina was alright, and thought Liam would do better under Hollow's wing rather than tagging along with a frazzled first time father.

"Sounds good. Don't both of you get stuck now, I hope to not have to come untangle you two." Koda teased, knowing Hollow had been here even longer than himself, and knew the place well enough that it was highly unlikely he'd ever be trapped amongst the brambles. Koda leaned his down to the rabbit kits, giving each one a firm shake in his jaws to snap their necks before scooping them all up in his broad muzzle. He gave one last glance to the pair before turning and disappearing off into the brambles with surprising haste for his large form.

Liam listened and watched staying at a respective stance all through out. He took on a toothy grin as Hollow asked to tour him. His tail wagged a little faster, he wanted to get to know his pack mates and Hollow seemed like a good start. At Koda's joke he chuckled, "That wouldn't be fun." His deep voice held a calm friendliness in it though on the inside he wanted to keep thanking Koda for allowing him to join his family, his pack. A great respect was forming for the alpha, but not just cause he was his alpha.

"Later Koda, hope to see you around and not tangled." He said before turning to look at the younger wolf. He waited for him to lead the way patiently as his eyes took in his dark figure and seemed to place it in his memory. Smelling the air he picked up his sent, Koda's, and some others. "So is this a big pack?" He asked padding into the brambles with the other wolf with a steady fast wagging tail.

Hollow kept his head and tail below that of Koda yet above Liam's. Trying on the feel of power, though it was not much, he was ranked above one wolf, it still felt odd, to be in charge. After a moments silence from the dark male, a nod and a smile to Koda when he departed, and an ear lent to Liam's question about the size of the pack, Hollow took the moment to decide exactly how to handle it. He turned and faded into the trees in silence with Liam in tow. His words chosen Hollow started to speak, "We're still growing, you are actually the only other male right now besides myself and Koda, otherwise, we have Ashanti, Nina, Iopah, and Azariah, all but Iopah have been trained as healers, and Iopah is an excellent huntress."

Around the borders they went, most of the time with Hollow answering questions and talking, talking, talking. About the pack, the way things were, which patch of woodlands would be impassible come summer. The dark wolf enjoyed it, It was a good way to generally know how Liam was going to act and whether or not he could be trusted with pack duties. While even from his initial impression, Hollow was certainly pleased with the way the older male acted he kept his reservations held, merely until Liam had been around long enough and did not prove to be a deserter.
