Sica Nithron
There wasn't great reasons Sica had reached his decision to challenge the wolf above him. Kanosak seemed like a decent enough fellow, and no need to be put in place. It was what was inside Sica. A wolf not liking the bottom of the chain, and hell bent to prove himself to his new pack. A hunger to rise, and prove to himself he was worthy. His self worth had been hurt a lot in his banishment, and his conviction he had almost believed them to know him better than himself. This would another step on his new path in loyalty, and to see what he was really made of. There was ways to earn respect, and this could be one of them. The outcome merely depended on how things panned out. Would Kano let him rise, or make him work for it?

Silver mask was smooth, but his jaw was set in a tight line, the muscles beneath his thick fur ready to work. Paws falling a top the snow he surveyed his surroundings from the late evening sun to the west (his right) and the faint wind that slowly whispered long the icy carpet. He made sure to be within Willow Ridge, but had found a suitable open place with untouched snow drifts for room to let this matter be decided. He had yet to know how he came about his wounds and scars, he could tell by their hunt they were deep wounds in both body and mind. His dark ears twitching against the back of his head, he would let out a deep howl asking for Kano's presence only. When he saw the male his body would take on a serious, and dominant stance letting him know what Sica wanted.

O.o I replied to this this morning... and it posted... <.< >.>

Limp. Sniff. Mark. Limp. Sniff. Mark.

On and on it went as the golden wolf made his way about the Willow Ridge borders. Content to keep to himself and his task, and to leave the socialising to time wasters like Shade. He still avoided the male whenever he could to avoid snapping and handing him his arse. Somehow, he didn’t think Elettra would approve.

The call came clear on the breeze, one of the more tolerable wolves was calling him. And he had the courtesy to be nice and close. Looking up to realise he had come full circle at least twice, it was with a satisfied huff that he turned to seek out the the wolf he considered one of the closest to a friend that he had in this pack.

His left foreleg, he took to carrying to ease his progress some, weight on the limb causing a shooting pain to lance the full length of the limb. Usually, he was ok, but the cold was always going to be hard on him. His sight, obscured to the left, also made depth perception difficult, and although he compensated well, it did not prevent the occasional stumble, throwing him headlong into snow drifts or causing an embarrassing stumble. It made simple tasks like hunting difficult.

Finally, he came upon the wolf. His torn right lip twitching in what was supposed to be a half smile as the other wolf rose his tail, forward ears leaving no question as to what the call was about. His eye lit in what could have been excitement. He expected this to come a long time ago. His own tail inched higher to match, his left leg coming to rest in front of him, his legs slightly splayed to allow for balance.

Tattered ears pointed forwards as his broken eyes sought to meet the golden eyes of his friend. He didn’t have a problem with the wolf raising through the ranks, provided he could prove he deserved it.

It wouldn’t need to result in a fight, no. He just wanted to test the man’s resolve.

His body took on a familiar regal stance, he had wondered if it had forgotten after so long. It seemed to fall into it, like putting on an old coat as if he had not taken another.

A raised skull, with ears drawn to his fellow wolf, and his thick banner above him, his eyes were bright, watchful, and ready in anticipation. This was something else he had been made to do. Sica didn't care for pointless brawls, he liked a good spar, and to be put to test. Kanosak seemed willing to offer, a hunger in his own eyes. Had he had brothers, and sisters to scuffle with, and was eager for a new round? Did no one here take part in friendly fights? He doubted it, thinking they must practice, but the question would hang in the back of his mind.

Golden eyes narrowed, and his light colored paws pulled him closer to his pack mate, but made no move past that point. No matter the outcome of this, he was certainly going to make a point to spar with the honey colored wolf if he was up for it. It never hurt to learn something new, and keep skills sharp. He had feeling this wolf had seen quite a number of fights himself. It was quiet, no question. Sica had rolled words around in his mind to explain, maybe he had sensed it to come to this. Didn't everyone want to prove their worth?Eyes locked, the silver fur along his shoulder and neck raised. A swift stretch, he would make a grab for the good side of Kano's face. His intent was to grab his muzzle with gentle force, but as firm as necessary.

His heart thundered in his chest, adrenaline coursing through his system, a slow ebb at first, but with the grey wolf’s first step forward it became a flood. He hadn’t been in a real fight since the night he stole the small dark boy. So like his own father. So like his grandmother. She was a traitor, she didn’t deserve to have a reminder of the first home she had abandoned. She didn’t deserve a pack of her own. If he couldn’t be happy, she didn’t deserve to be either.

It would seem the lesson she had aimed for hadn’t nearly been taught well enough. He was itching to fight. He needed it. It had been too long, but this would not be nearly so dire... Still, he ached.

He saw as the other wolf came at him. The muzzle grab was not unexpected, but his aching and broken limbs were not as quick to react as he might have liked. Teeth came into contact with his shredded face, his own jerking causing teeth to cut at the thin skin on the bridge of his nose as he pushed back onto his hind legs in an attempt to wrap his forepaws about the other wolf’s neck, a bear hug of sorts, pushing his head behind the neck of the other male and out of reach... if it worked. Of course Sica could counter the move doing the same himself and surely his superior weight would force Kanosak to try and break the hold.

This would not be a long fight.

The life of a loner he had gotten in a few brawls over food. He had always been the more wise of the group, or had worked his way in helping them get something else. Here, he had been lucky here to only obtain some bites from a great misunderstanding. (He still intended to fix when the time was right.) This was something entirely different. He was fighting for something else, and a partner he did care about inflicting harm upon. Such difference, hard and easy.

Pleased for a challenge there was a glint to his eyes, his muscles rigid with the task at hand; this might require some time. Sica was all business now, no grins or flipping tails, just ready to play this part again. All he had to do was get Kano down. And he felt his teeth meet their mark, but knowing this was an old wound, and the honey colored wolf was moving away Sica released. He did not back down. Kano's paws grabbed for him, and he began to push back, trying to drive him down. He would have to be stronger, or able to out last Sica. The silver wolf reached his own front paw upward to place over Kano's shoulders, while his other legs pushed off the ground, and his teeth attempted to nip somewhere on the lower part of the man's neck. His idea was to drive him back, push him off balance to shake his grip, and if that didn't work he would be using his other leg to push him down.

It wasn’t entirely unexpected when the other male mirrored his move, it was a basic after all. Sica was far stronger than he, and try as he might, he simply could not hold the larger wolf back. He felt as he fell, and tried to bring himself to his side, but with the larger wolf above him, the game was up. A final, half-hearted kick for good measure was all he would offer as a smile cracked his face and his tail tucked, head tipping back to expose his throat in clear submission. It had been fun for sure, but the golden wolf felt far too old to take part in such shenanigans whilst the weather was so cold.

The tip of his tail was waving against his stomach as he waited for some indication that his submission was enough to appease the victor who stood over him.

Short post is short :( I am happy to leave it here unless you'd rather have them wander off and do something else now?

Kanosak what had happened to him? If he had been untouched by whatever marred his features, and insides Sica would have had a real challenge. Today he felt the wolf cave beneath him with a last try to prod him before hitting the snow. Blood still rushing, tail held stifly upward he stood over him for a second if to make sure the kick was his last move, and Kano would let him rise. Seeing the light throat was a clear sign, and imediately Sica offered him space. They were pack mates again, and the silver wolf must have passed the test. A whine of play and question played in his throat, followed by a ruff that snapped from his jaws. Own tail began to sway, and he made a much more playful prod at the Willow wolf with his cold nose. He skirted back, his golden eyes like a child's waiting for his play mate to make his move.

He chuckled, an open grin stretching his jaws. "Been awhile since I've had to do that. Was it common in your home pack?" He asked out of interest, but kept his tone light. Sica couldn't tell how old those wounds were, and would not tear the wolf from his hard earned memories. He hoped the man would continue to accept his company, and he might learn more of him.
