Inkheart
<b style="font-size:12px; font-family:georgia;">It was out of the ordinary for Inkheart to feel like he wasn’t in the present at all, though it had been happening increasingly as of late. He simply felt a distant gravitational pull towards simply being instead of doing, but he still did what was expected of him regardless. Inkheart would gladly do as he was instructed or what he deemed was morally and dutifully correct, which meant to man the borders and make sure that those within were safe.

Borlla had her children not but half a month ago and he had witnessed that one was a beautiful young girl and the other a handsome young boy. Though he had not been there at the birthing or any time after it for privacy’s sake, he had briefly visited just a week or so ago. It made him crave a family of his own, though he knew he would have to be patient. Inkheart had already let one woman he loved slip away but he wasn't going to let the next, he was certain.

It went without saying that Inkheart was on one of these so-called strolls through the Glen, keeping tabs on movement and making sure that everything was in its rightful place. A few wolves passed him by that he recognized as Glen wolves though he made no movement towards them, as he usually spoke when spoken to on his guard duties. However, what he had not expected but certainly appreciated was seeing @Phineas out and about at high noon just as he was. It might have been luck playing on the fire-eyed male’s side but he had been hoping to run into his leader for a few days now to discuss Inkheart’s future role within the pack—namely a duty to further showcase his place within the pack.

Phineas Argyris
Magnolia Glen had yet to fully blossom to the potential it held – upon claiming, Borlla had been heavily pregnant, and Phineas had spent his time marking borders and finding prey to keep his mate well fed and content. After the cubs had been born, the frenzy to find food and sweep over the borders had intensified, and his time was manipulated by the two endearing youths.. not that he would have it any other way. There energy showed no end, and most times they left him exhausted.. and feeling a bit like a codger.
Kyros and Hypatia had been introduced to the pack, and while they were expected to remain within sight of the den, they were becoming more acquainted with the pack – perhaps, he decided ruefully, even more so than he was. And such a thing did not settle well with him.
His ivory paws lumbered the borders of the Glen, his fiery eyes casting to the draping trees that offered the pack seclusion and safety. The land felt more like home than even the Meadows had, but that did not stop the weary unsettle he felt towards his pack mates.. he simply needed to know them better.
Pink tongue smoothing across lips, his nose lifted to the air then, catching scent of a very familiar and welcoming smell. Blinking his eyes against the sun, Phineas caught view of the swarthy male, his tail giving a sweep of content greeting to the male. Lifting himself dominantly, the Argyris male began to strode toward the second, his eyes casting over him curiously before he offered a nod. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:11px; color:#D9C441;">“Inkheart,” he greeted, his tone warm though he could not help the exhaustion that seemed to lace his words. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:11px; color:#D9C441;">“How are you?”

Phineas’ arrival was more than necessary considering the pending relationship that he wished to further with the pack. It would make the most sense as the leaders second in command to do as much as he could to prepare them for the future. With the growing of children within the Glen Inkheart would need to make sure that the pack was safe from outsiders, he needed to protect them as they were inadvertently family now. Perhaps not by blood but by duty and he would not exclude them from his security procedures.
Once he was able to close the distance between himself and the leader, he lowered his head in a respectful bow as the male greeted him in kind. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“I am doing well, Phineas, though it seems that you are exhausted?” Perhaps Phineas had been well-worn out like a Codger because of the children that were now a large part of his life. A mate and children took lots of patience and skill, not to mention time out of the day that was usually put towards themselves. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“I’m sure that Kyros and Hypatia keep you and Borlla very busy,” Inkheart smiled sincerely, hoping that one day he could be kept busy by a mate and children even if he knew that when the time came he might be just as exhausted and worn out from it as he was.
Even though Inkheart ached to eventually get to talking about his duties and responsibilities within the pack, he was also very interested in the well-being of the two newest members of the pack. They were important and he would want to know everything about them as they grew.

Had Inkheart’s pelt not been such a stark black – a hue that did not run within his family line s—Phineas would have questioned whether or not the two were related, if only because of the bright hue of their orange eyes and the large build. The male was a noble one – having checked the land for information regarding the other packs before he had followed Magnolia Glen to its discovery, and such a trait was admirable to the ivory wolf. Upon his arrival in Relic Lore, he had simply joined the first pack he had heard of.. not that he had regretted such a decision – Elettra ran a fair pack, though he could not help but think that perhaps his emotions would have been better had he not met the strong willed she-wolf. Most days he tried to avoid thinking about her, though she was likely a mother now.
Inkheart’s words stirred a derisive snort from the male, his wolfish brows lifting as he shrugged. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#E86A37;">“Busy is an understatement,” he decided with amusement laced in his tones as he thought fondly of his two children. Yet as exhausted as he was, he knew Borlla was all the more so, and he decided after his round of patrol of the lands he would allow her free time to herself and take the cubs on solely.
With a flick of his tail, the Argyris wolf nodded to the direction he would be walking, moving to mark the pack lands. Lifting himself to his haunches, the ivory Leader allowed his claws to scrape the bark of the nearby tree, revealing to any onlooker that this was indeed claimed land – the scent of the pack was strong now. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#E86A37;">“Are you settling well?”

Inkheart
<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">
It was quite stranger that the two bared similar appearances sans their coats, their personalities Inkheart believed to be rather similar as well. That or he was misjudging the comparison by assuming that he was anything like his strongly built Alpha. Perhaps if he had stayed around the Lore longer he might have a mate and a family now as well but his time was plenty and he would simply have to be patient until the right time arrived. He could not stress how important being patient was when it came to the things you desired in life. It wasn’t easy, but it just something that had to be dealt with.
A short chuckle left his mouth as he pictured his two children rolling amongst the two Alphas carelessly. Within his mind, he wished to ask Phineas about his sons leg, but he wouldn’t want to come across the wrong way. Though Inkheart was quite solid and held himself strongly, he admired the family that much more for providing Kyros with love and affection. The pack that he had been born into likely would have murdered a child if they were only born with three legs, and Ink would never want to be a part of that. Blind, deaf or disabled was simply three synonyms for ‘precious’, but he wouldn’t want to appear too soft now.
Deciding that he wouldn’t want to step on the wrong feet or even get off on the wrong foot, he disregarded the thought of Kyros and instead focused on following Phineas to mark his land. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“I think so,” he grinned as he began thinking of the day that they had come to the Creek, <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“met a few of the members, scouted the area around our borders—did you know that there is a gathering of wolves to the South? I believe that they might be forming a pack, though I haven’t met any of them.” Inkheart had moved on through, not wishing to disrupt anything or he could have just been jumping to conclusions and the wolves might just be moving through themselves. However, it was information that might be desirable to know.

Phineas Argyris
Pushing his forelimbs from the tree trunk and back down to the soft earth, his ear gave a flicker as Inkheart spoke, his bright eyes trailing from the horizon of his pack borders to view the swarthy male once more. He liked the male’s company, though knew little of him – yet he trusted Inkheart made a good Second, and while Phineas was surprised that Erebos had yet to attempt a switch in the hierarchy, he also assumed Inkheart would be a worthy adversary.
What truly piqued his interest however was the topic of a newly formed pack. A soft ‘hm’ escaped his muzzle as he gave a nod to the male, indicating for him to follow as he continued along the borders, reiterating Magnolia Glen’s claim with the rub of his scent upon the foliage every so often. Another pack so close by was what he had hoped to avoid on this side of the mountain, yet they had done little exploration before laying claim, it was of no surprise to the alabaster wolf that they did have neighbors. Hopefully of the more peaceable kind than the ones he and a group of other wolves from Relic Lore had eradicated only months before.
<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#ACBCCA;">“How did you hear of them?” He was curious to know, if only because the male had spoken that he had not met them yet. Of course, action would be taken. He would take a small gathering of wolves to go meet them.. at least to determine what intentions they held as a group.

<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">
Phineas was not missing much when it came to not knowing much about the inky beast. His past had been simple upon first arrival to the Lore, his journey here had been rather uninteresting and it was only his beginning now that would matter towards anything grand. Finally joining a pack after the third try here, placing Phineas at the top of his list. If not for the Alpha Male Inkheart likely would have left the Lore yet again, in hopes of finding something better. None of the packs here had held anything that he wanted, but the Glen had provided him a new start—a place where he didn’t have to work his way into a pack’s niche.
<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“Oh,” he answered as he began to walk beside his Alpha in a steady rhythm, <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“by scent. I haven’t met any of them personally but when I passed by I scented a few marked places as well as the scent of birth.” It might have been a crazy assumption to have scented such a thing, but he was sure that what he had found was no cover.
There were multiple scents that had lingered around Spectral Woods, providing Inkheart with the idea that there were wolves looking to set up camp in that particular location. It wouldn’t really put a bother to Inkheart, or likely the Glen wolves, but it near enough that they might want to know who their neighbors were. Being strangers with someone just a couple territories away might issue disruptions between members, something Inkheart was sure Phineas would want to avoid.

@[Éponine]

The Argyris male gave a nod of understanding, pleased to know that Inkheart was scouting out the lands and was able to determine such things. While there was uncertainty that clung to him regarding these wolves, their whereabouts and what their intentions were, none of this could truly be answered unless he sought the answers out himself.
As they prowled the paths of the borders, his gaze swept over the land he had come to claim as his – he and Borlla had settled well here, and he liked to think his packmates had as well. He wouldn’t want anything hindering their life in the Glen. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#D9C441;">“You and I will leave tomorrow to seek out our neighbors then,” he decided knowing Borlla would be fine without his presence for a day or two. Erebos would still be here.
They had been here for a few months now, it was only time they be diplomatic and see what the other inhabitants of the area were like. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#D9C441;">“We’ll also take one of the Yearlings with us, @[Éponine] ." She was young, and while he was hesitant to take the only wolf they had with medicinal knowledge away for a day or two, he also hoped to teach her more of pack life and what was required to be done. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#D9C441;">“It’s about time we met our neighbors anyhow,” he decided with a small smirk, his tail giving an idle flick. Especially with Kyros and Hypatia becoming more and more brave about the outside world – he would not have them wander too far alone within the pack lands, let alone outside.. but one could never take too many precautions.

sorry! i was dumb and was under the impression we were waiting for Po to appear <3 <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">
With his wandering nature there were times when he simply could not resist the idea of scouting out their surrounding territories. It was a way for him to be comfortable in the pack without feeling the desire to wander out too far, so that he could return. It came as no surprise that Phineas was already arranging a time for them to go to the pack he had mentioned, which was delightful. It meant that Inkheart had already served a rather important purpose by scouting along the territories sometimes.
<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“Sounds good,” he answered with a nod while he skipped to thoughts of his two children. Inkheart knew that he would keep them safe and it would be no surprise that their parents would, too. Protecting the pack from any potential threat was his ultimate goal and now these puppies were part of the pack—another add-on that he was more than happy to help and support while growing up. Taking a yearling along with them would likely be a good idea, since Phineas had suggested it, but he had no idea why they were taking her. Extra back-up, perhaps?
They were certainly all well cared for here under Phineas’ command as he took no time in desiring to meet those that were quite close. It was with good intention that they would go visit and see what was up, which didn’t bother Inkheart one bit. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#FA2F00;">“Indeed,” he answered finally and hoped that the three of would go and visit this pack and discover that they weren’t hostile.

I'll start us a new thread. :)
With his swarthy companion’s agreement, the ivory Leader gave a nod of finality then. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#E86A37;">“I will call in the morning for you and @[Éponine] then,” he decided, giving a nod to the male in return. His eyes lifted to the sun at that point, noting the time of day. If he was to travel a few days to seek out their neighbours, he wanted to spend as much time this evening as he could with @Borlla and his two children. They would be perfectly fine without him, of course, but he would miss them desperately.
With a nod of farewell to Inkheart, the Leader shifted his figure, beginning to lumber his way back towards his den. The male was proving to be a great asset to the pack – aside from being the second in position, Phineas knew Inkheart would thrive better with an official pack role. Perhaps Advisor? Scout? Guardian? Such things could be determined at a later time with discussions with his mate – the two would need to hold a pack meeting soon, and Phineas could only assume they could do such after his return – after all, the pack would need to be told of the surrounding packs within the area as well.
With one last glance back to Inkheart, Phineas gave a nod of farewell before setting off to his family at a faster pace. The two would meet again come morning to begin their excursion – though now Phineas would have to tell the news to Borlla.
