Still, the vibrant red was a nice colour to behold and attracted the attention of the wandering medic. The wet ground made it easier for her to find the roots she liked to chew on, for this benefit or that. Her omnivorous diet kept her very lean, but made her coat thick and healthy, shiny even as she took on her winter coat. In this forest she found a small crop of wild garlic growing, so she clawed at it, pulling the stems away and exposing the roots which were slightly soggy, but nevertheless useful. She wasn't picky about the taste- she found that it was different but still quite enjoyable. For someone who'd been eating plants for most of her life, it was definitely one of the more tolerable ones.
She scuffled a few plants out of the ground and picked them up, carrying them over to the shelter beneath a tree where fewer raindrops fell through. She made a trip back and forth a few times until she had a decent collection of wild garlic and, once satisfied with the meal she'd gathered, she lay down beneath the tree's sheltering branches and began to chew away on the softened roots.
