He was growing tired of the swarthy she-wolf in front of him – her request to show them her hunting abilities had been questioned, and rather than actually prove them, she instead directed the conversation away, insisting instead that her true talents lie with scouting. A grunt escaped him then as he tensed, withholding the energy of backlash he wished to unleash to the fool before him. Borlla herself had seemingly lost patience and his own fiery eyes gleamed as he watched his mate snarl, pacing closer to the foolish she-wolf.
“You do not eat from what little cache we have until you have supplied to it,” he then growled out, ending this conversation now. He would not turn her away – perhaps, instead, she could prove her use as of yet. With an agitated flick of his tail, the male nudged his mate’s flank, his eyes glowering as they regarded Neoma. “Until you learn your place and how to submit to your betters, you can consider yourself the pack’s Lowest. You can earn your way higher among the hierarchy through your merit alone.” Without another word, his gaze would flicker to his mate, softening somewhat as he regarded her.
With a nod of his muzzle, the large male loped forward aggressively, a snarl bubbling from his jaws as he made to grip her snot with his teeth – a calculated maneuver that would harshly remind her of her place and yet not pierce her flesh should he gain hold. The usual acceptance of rubbing his scent upon a welcomed member was forgone – as the pack lowest, she would be at the very bottom, and the members would treat her as seen fit, as well as eating last. With another grunt, the ivory male turned then, his paws sinking through the snow as he made his way back to the pack lands.

Neoma Flint
With care, Neoma watched Borlla step towards her, her tail raising and teeth showing in a snarl.
Yet it wasn’t Borlla who caused the full submission. In the instant Phineas’ words left his mouth, Neoma knew how far she had pushed his limit. Too far. Warnings whispered by her sister and mother alike of her pride burst into her mind as the big wolf lunged forward, his muzzle opening briefly before closing swiftly around hers. The bite didn’t harm her in any way but it instantly caused her to roll onto her back and flash her stomach, her tail between her legs. After a moment, Phineas let go and stepped away. With a grunt, he was turning away and moving through the snow, leaving Borlla and Neoma alone.
Neoma lay there in the snow, waiting as embarrassment and shame mingled with remnants of memories as her family sighed heavily and cautioned her against being so prideful, telling her time and time again that it would be one day be her downfall.
”Pride means nothing if you are dead,” Her sister once frowned at her, concern mixed in with frustration showing vividly in her eyes. ”Or if there’s no one else around who cares for it. It’ll cause you much trouble in the future, if you wish to leave the pack and come across other wolves who aren’t so fond of it.” At the time, Nekma had simply laughed at her sister and ignored her advice, thinking herself a much better wolf than her sister.
Now, however, in the light of recent events, Neoma begun to wonder if her sister and family had truly been right in trying to steer her path down a more even tempered path.

Borlla Tainn-Argyris
Borlla found Neoma's riposte suitable. Admittedly, the woman would have loved to put the girl in her place, but Phineas's actions and words had done the job. Though she backpedaled, her lips were still pulled harshly over her teeth. The darker woman was on the ground now, where she ought to have been to begin with. Snorting, Borlla found her frustrations subsiding after the events unfolded. They would not let this woman freeze to death. She ought to be ever grateful to her saviors. Shaking out her fur, she rid herself of the last of the tension that had filled the crevices of her muscles.
Her eyes drifted over her shoulder to regard her mate as he retreated back home. Then they slowly drifted back towards the cowering lesser. Tail held over her back, she gave the woman a final snarl, before giving a vicious toss of her head, as if to indicate that she should be followed. But if Neoma wished to lie in the snow all day, then more power to her. Head low now, Borlla tipped her ears back as the cold air pushed her back towards Magnolia Glen. It was beginning to get a bit crowded within the den now, and while it warmed them all through the freezing nights, Borlla was beginning to wonder if she wouldn't rather sleep outside. But with this new recruit, perhaps she would soon find her aggravations waning.
