Hunt Opportunities & Breeding Season

BWP Update

February settles across Relic Lore much quieter than the previous winter months. The snow has begun to taper off, though the occasional storm still rocks Relic Lore with a vengeance unlike any other. Times are becoming desperate as wolves begin to starve and the winter begins to dwindle the population, life by life.

Hunting Opportunity

Two hunting opportunities have presented themselves: one on the Western side of the mountain, and one on the Eastern side. These count as random events, and the opportunity for major health points. There is enough meat to feed an entire pack — but will the packs and wolves of Relic Lore share, or will they aide only their pack and loved ones?

To participate in these threads, keep in mind that no real post order will be given, but a full two days must pass before participants can accept a new round and skip over another. A full bar (or as high as the bar can reach, given the lowered max. limit) can be claimed if enough meat is taken. How far will your wolf fight for survival? Please note, the SoW account will not be used to play the prey.. members must play the prey after posting.

Other BWP Notes

We've come a long way in this plot so far, and have even witnessed a few deaths from the winter. The number of lone wolves have dwindled considerably.. as has everyone's health. Once more, the maximum for the health bars has been lowered to reflect how harsh the winter is on your character.. and the chances for a Food Opportunity has also been lowered.

Post Prompt Opportunities

The following post prompts are available for everyone to participate in. These threads will need to be finished by March 10 to count for RE life points and should be started no later than March 1. Everyone should praise Grey for writing these for us!

"Kingsguard"
Something, predator or prey, stirs along the borders of the pack lands. Whatever it is, one thing is certain... It hungers for sustenance with a hollow belly.

"Pay the iron/gold price"
Each of the standing wolf packs have something valuable. Particular herbs, medical knowledge, stores of food, able bodies, cubs and yearlings, certain professionals... It is up for Leaders and their packs to discuss among themselves what they would give or do to obtain what they need to survive.

White walker!
Something has taken up precedence in the forests of Relic Lore. Do we dare mention what it is what your wolf thought they saw?

Breeding Season!

Breeding season in Relic Lore begins March 1 and ends on the 31. That means any wolves with the intention to breed must do so within this time frame.

Just like last year, this year, every character on RoW can breed (not just Leaders!) But please keep in mind the guidelines below. Any character on RoW can breed this year! Given the below guidelines are followed, of course.

Maximum Number of Pups in a Litter
Lead Couple (both pack leaders) - 3 pups
Leader (only one is leader) - 2 pups
Subordinates - 1 pups
Lone Wolves - 1 pups

Why the lowered number of puppies this year? To meet the realistic after effects of such a hard winter, where every wolf's health has been affected.

Adoption Process
All pups must be adopted by the time it is ready to come out of the den (3 weeks after their birth). The players of pups are responsible for keeping them active. If a pup is removed during an activity check and not reactivated during the following 2 weeks, it will die. Also, a pup that is a lone wolf will need to battle the constant LP deduction.. failure to do so will also result in the death of the pup.

Who can breed?
- Any wolf over the age of 22 months and older is able to breed.
- Pack leaders set the breeding rules in their pack. If a pack leader enforces a no-breeding rule for subordinates, then subordinates who disregard these rules will face the consequences that is set by their leader.

Additional Information
- Two individual characters have the chance to either mate or breed. Breeding results in cubs, mating does not. Those who want to breed with the goal of reproducing will need to respond to the breeding thread signups (to be put up come March 1).
- Two lone wolves who successfully raise one cub to 1 year of age will create a pack. This will substitute the amount of Life Points required by the potential lead wolves in the 'Pack' category.. however, the lone wolves must still meet the other requirements (though two cubs turned yearling will count as pack members).

Clarification!

Hey guys! Quick clarification since there seems to be some confusion on when is acceptable to reply to the large hunt threads.

Each 'round' is technically an automatic two days which means a character can not post more than once per round. The threads were created the evening of the 10th, and so next rounds can begin the evening of the 12th, or the morning of the 13th. The round after that will be set two days after THAT, then (ie: the evening of the 14th, or the morning of the 15th.)

I hope that clears up some confusion! These are exceptionally large and dramatic threads, so please exercise RP etiquette, and have some patience. Please also note that if a fight breaks out, players can either determine the outcome through RP (perhaps discuss it OoC) or through the Fight System. Please keep in mind that killing a character without the permission of the player is prohibited.

Thanks everyone, and let loose on the drama!

@Phineas

Since @Naira and @Quick posted before the start of the new rough ~8:30 pm EST, would it be fair to say their posts should be disregarded for now. I was thinking once it's 8:30 though I'll move their posts to the end of the thread and what not so they can technically be the start of the second round?

That sounds good, Sarah. Thank you.

Since there is a pretty high chance for multiple fights to be happening, should all fight requests go in the one thread so we can keep better track of everyones LP?

EG - Aponi just attacked Kisla, (http://relic-lore.net/showthread.php?tid=6424) so should all fight requests for the west hunt go here?

If a staff has a moment, can two separate threads be created for rolls? One for the West, one for the East?

I can do it in the morning otherwise. :) Good suggestion, becu!

Edited Aponi/Kisla title to West Side, added thread for East Side. :)

Just another heads up - because these are concurrent fights, HP will not be reset between fights, so please be aware of this if your character participates in multiple fights during these hunt threads.

A warning has been posted in each of the hunt fight threads as well to serve as a reminder.

Okay, guys. I'm beginning to see the frustrations surfacing in everyone. <3

Please keep the following in mind:

- You are role-playing with one entire side of the mountain of wolves/packs. These threads are EXCEPTIONALLY huge and can still grow even more. They WILL become confusing. There WILL be things missed -- if someone misses/doesn't react to something your character did to theirs or tried, it's VERY likely they just didn't see it in the mass. They aren't ignoring you. PM them. I imagine they WANT to know.

- If your character becomes directly involved in a fight within this thread -- feel free to make it a separate thread so you do not have to wait the rounds. If you want it to become a private fight (no others can jump in) this is another good way to do it.

- Don't do anything you're not comfortable with. If the massive thread size intimidates you or stresses you out, don't feel bad about not participating.

- There WILL be PPing throughout. In any hunt thread, there is an amount of PP. In one so huge as this, it's a guarantee. If someone PP's your character in a way you do not appreciate, please either come to Staff, or send them a friendly PM and ask them to edit their post.

- Try to summarize the actions of your character at the beginning or end of your post. This helps validate their position, get the attention of participants it affects, and reiterates what you were writing.

- This is NOT a realistic thread. Wolves have come from all directions, and while some might live further away, they can still be there. Why? Because it's a game.

If you guys have any concerns or questions, feel free to direct them to staff, openly or privately. Someone will assist.

Quick update:
I've been keeping notes and track of how many wolves from each pack on the western side are in attendance and what major things are happening.

Cut Rock River Wolves: 9 adults, 1 pup, 10 total
missing still: Anneliese, Nagga, Mace, Destin

Major things happening in Round 1 and part of 2:
Kisla - is after Chulyin, Gent, and Eek; Aponi is attempting to head-butt her

Athena - is running alongside Kisla, helping to bite at the heels of the three HK wolves

Maksim - has given orders: Naia to go after Athena and Kisla, Astra to go talk to Minka and strategize, and for the rest to go to the trees and charge when the elk is killed

Everyone else that has posted is next to Maksim and are waiting for orders. Only Maksim has posted in the second round.

Hollowheart Keep Wolves: 7 adults, 4 pups, 11 total
Major things happening in Round 1 and part of 2:
Naira - is after the elk, ahead of Kisla and Athena
Quicksilver - is after elk, biting at heels of elk
Nova - is following Naira after elk
Sagacity - following further behind in defensive mode
Mercy - is following Naira, currently trying to jam himself in between Aponi and Kisla
Chulyin - is after elk, closest to it
Gent - after elk, slightly behind Chulyin
Eek - after elk, behind Chulyin and Gent
Aponi - is attempting to charge and head butt Kisla

Only ones left to reply to round 2 are: Karpos, Evann, Gent, Eek, and Aponi

Whisper Cavern Wolves: 3 adults, 0 pups, 3 total
Major things happening in Round 1 and part of 2:
Minka, Namara, and Inali are still standing strategizing and waiting for others. No major moves

Secret Woodland Wolves: 6 adults, 0 pups, 6 total
Major things happening in Round 1 and part of 2:
Koda - is after elk, opposite side of Chulyin, biting at leg of elk

The rest are still strategizing and waiting for others. No other major moves.

Conclusion
9 out 11 HK wolves are close to elk. 2 out of 10 CRR wolves are close to elk. 1 out of 6 SW wolves are close to elk. 0 out of 3 WC wolves are close to elk.

Again if I have made a mistake or misinterpretion, please let me know! I want to keep myself sane with these notes and you guys as well. <3
