Caniri Callahan
Caniri wondered through the territory. He made sure he had gotten a good start on following Phineas' orders. He periodically left scent markers, and found himself scraping against the trees and ground. While doing this, he was also getting to know territory. His alpha had been right. It was important that he know the land that he lived on, that he was going to protect.

He was busy leaving yet more of his scent, when he heard the call. He stopped mid stream and bolted towards the sound. There was food! Live food that needed to be hunted. But more importantly, there were other wolves. The first call was quickly followed by another, and he forced himself to plow through the snow. He didn't hesitate ad he reached the borders, he continued on. His pack needed him. He would help feed his new family and he would protect those in trouble.

It didn't take long before he scented the wolves. There were strangers here too, but there were more friendly scents than not. He hoped that this didn't actually come to a fight. He wasn't eager to kill, despite his past, but he would fight to defend his pack if he had to. It took a second for him to pinpoint where his pack mates had gone, but not long for him to catch up. He quickly loped up beside Phineas, scanning the area. "What are your orders, Alpha? Do we have a strategy if this comes to a battle?"

Nayeli Stormwright

Nayeli had not long been a member of Oak Tree Bend, but already she could see that the winter was treating them without mercy. True to her word, the new addition had wasted no time in beginning to serve her pack. She rose early to scout the borders, trying to learn the landscape and keeping an eye out for food and trouble. She didn't exactly have orders to do this, or any specific duties, but she didn't need to be told that after Corinna's loss, the pack would need everyone to pull together to survive. Patrolling and scouting and hunting on her own felt natural after travelling alone for so long. Being a part of a pack again was an adjustment for her, and besides, it only felt right to give the family and ones close to Corinna some space in the days following the leader's death.

These factors lead Nayeli to be out and about when Triell's call - and another unfamiliar song - rang across the lands. Turning from her current path, she sprang in the direction of the call, toward the ocherous hills in the distance. The Stormwright she-wolf was fleet of foot, but distance was her enemy, and as she drew near she could smell that she was not the first to arrive. The reason for Triell's call was obvious enough - the heady musk of prey hung thick in the air, and she heard the beasts before she laid eyes on the wolves that had gathered. Loping toward the familiar coal-black form of the Tainn who had summoned them, her silver gaze flashed over the scene. Unfamiliar scents mixed with those of the Bend wolves, and there was an almost tangible tension in the air. Offering a businesslike nod of greeting to her leader, she took a position in line near her packmates and waited for orders, despite the fact that her body and instincts urged her to run and chase the unfortunate prey. Her expression and posture were ready, on alert, but on the inside worry gnawed at her. The wolves of Oak Tree Bend needed to eat. The others, whoever they were, seemed to have numbers on their side, and were already beginning to move on the herd.

Jaden Reem/Dusk
Searching...scavenging, tracking, and traveling. That had been her schedule for quite awhile, and Jade had grown a tad lonely. It seemed she was too busy doing her job of finding food to meet anyone. The silver wolf had been around the surrounding area for a mere twenty minutes when a call met her ears. They perked up in attention and listened to the stranger's voice. *He calls for wolves of my pack? Must be some one I need to meet.* She thought in a disoriented way.

Urgency had not even glanced her way, let alone stroke her, and so she padded along casually. Her focus was towards the landscape about as she scoped it with blue eyes. Then another call for another pack reached her. Focusing on the sound she pinpointed it and pushed herself into a quick trot.

The smell of Caribu cleared any confusion of the situation and quickened her pace. The wolves came into sight, and several of them. A deformed tail took to her belly as ears flattened nervously. It wasn't a strut to show off in front of the stranger pack, but she found her way past them and to her alphas. Her greeting was a respective head bow, simple but effective.

*Caniri...*She thought, her stomach clenching and doing slips inside of her. Her glance was quickly peeled from him and returned to her leaders. A new tension filled the air, yet one met for only the two of them. Guilt nibbled at her gut.

Drestig Avalon

Out again. The urge to wander had once more gripped the dark man, despite the regrettable result of his last stray from The Bend. This time he had pulled more eastwards, the peculiar red mountains flanking that side of his forest home, piquing his interest. The Sierra Hills, his pack mate called them, though hill was a bit of an understatement in the black lads opinion; And that's from a wolf BORN in the mountains! He had reached the foot of the hills, and was studying their rising glory with awe in his orange eyes - he wouldn't try to climb them, not now with the snow making their winding paths slippery and the winter making him judge even the smallest exertion; at least not unless an obvious benefit showed itself; Like food...

FOOD! A spiteful snort escaped him. What was food now but a feeble dream, a distant memory carried on the icy winds? And just then, a howl rang, sounding a message to good to be true - in a voice he did not know, but that mattered little - he went after it, paws carrying him speedily along the foot of the hills. As he ran, a new, and much more familiar, voice called confirming the unbelievable, and this one demanded his presence - if not by name, then by merit - for it was his alpha who called.

He soon reached his leader, who was surrounded, not only by his own pack, but by others, reeking familiarly. Drestig held back a snarl and chose to focus on Triell, coming to a hold at the young man's side. "Triell." He gasped, cold air wheezing in and out of his open maw after the run. Fiery eyes ran over the opposing wolves, lips pulling back from his teeth at the sight of the young boy he had run into, just a few days earlier, but his full interest quickly swept out to the lone caribou, whose smell was filling his nose; Oh blessed heavens! It was true.

Body tensing, every muscle at the ready, Drestig looked to Triell, one ear still turned at the prey. Should he wait for his alpha to lead the hunt? But others were already running for the bull, and with a loner's instincts still echoing in his body, Drestig threw his weight into the hunt, speeding after the others, quickly catching up, trailing out to flank the animal and drive it back towards the rest of his family.

SUMMARY:
Drestig is running after the bull, trying to flank it and turn it back - accounting for his higher speed stat, I am saying that he catches up to @Borlla and @Phineas and start to/tries to surpass them.

This is the beginning of the second round. The third round will begin on 3/3/2014 @ 5:50 PM EST

The beast ambled along in a daze, unsure of where it should be headed. It was a creature of compliance, it craved direction, stability, the company of dozens. But it was alone, with nothing but several instincts to rub together: eat, stay alive. Anxiously, it cracked and scraped at the crusty layers of snow with a foreleg, trying to see if there might be any shoots beneath. There was not. He snorted. He missed the grass as much as he missed the loins of his cow, knowing he might not make it to see another breeding season now that he had been separate. He wasn't dumb, he knew what his odds were when there was so little food. Vaguely, he wondered how Marou was getting along without him.

Aroooooooooooooo

Aroooooooooooooo

Demon song. 8 kilometers away or more.

He knew this song and had heard it many times throughout his life, but for some reason it felt like it was happening to someone else, sinking into someone else's ears. They weren't coming for him. Why would they come for him? Tuqloq was strong and he was smart. The demons only ever wanted the sickly ones, the ones that had been sentenced to death for their sins. Tuqloq had done nothing wrong. His skin prickled. A dozen condemning gazes fell upon him. What have I done? He cried out in distress, begging them to turn away, to reconsider.

And that was when they began to appear.

His head swung to his left as he caught sight of two white flashes crest a low hill nearby. It was hard to gauge their speed, and the poor creature didn't dare stop to calculate. His final instinct kicked in: stay alive. Though the strength that remained in his starving body was not much, he willed it to be enough and took off, pounding through the valley of hills. His beady eyes searched the distance for shelter, but there was little out here in the winter beside the gentler slopes of the Seirra Hills. The forest was very far from here, but it was the only hope he had. Make it towards the forest. Survive.

Tuqloq the bull is running WEST WARD (click here for visual representation). Anyone who hasn't stated that they moved towards the bull (Halgen, Triell, Zia, Rhysis, Ruiko, Neoma, Serach, Nayeli, Jaden) are 8 km away. Borlla, Phineas, and Caniri are assumed to all be traveling together and thus use Phineas' speed stat of 80, and are 4.66 km away travelling at .66 km/min. Destrig is 4 km away travelling at .8 km/min. Rounds last five minutes.

Also, since Rhysis is inactive at least at the moment, try to disregard him.

Triell Tainn
I'll always belong in the service of a Queen

It was pleasant to see Zia in better sorts, but her presence did not ease the tension, the urgency that coated the cold air. She spoke of hopes for their packs to share the caribou, but hinted something tragic had befallen upon his sister, and mate. The words literally made his insides squeeze, but he made no mention of his own loss. Eyes spied the tall silver flecked, black cloaked brute coming their way. How couldn't he think of Rhysis? From the distance he looked the part of the one he loathed. He was a little skeptical this was him. It had been how long since he had last seen him? Could the bastard still be alive? Gaze narrowing slightly, with tall stance steady he stared coolly upon him, a grand part of him wishing it wasn't true. The way he stood, growled to the others, it could mean he was Borlla's mate. The irony...

Ruiko, and Serach beside him he didn't lose face. He wanted to assure Serach they were going to do something other than idly watch the other pack eat. There was just a lot happening at once. An unpleasant sound cut through it all, and the presence of a large, white male commanded all three at once. A mix of relief and annoyance shifted in his chest, watching as they began up the hillside with another pack mate in tow. Borlla came next, though she did look upon them she did not utter a sound, she followed the rest. Triell had to hold his tongue, pinch back anger. Two more pack mates answering his call the odds were trying to even out. Before he uttered instruction Drestig shot forward, and so he quickly began calling out his plan. "Nayeli, help Drestig prevent it from reaching the forest. Ruiko, Serach lets try to keep up until we know where it will go and what they'll do." Then he began bounding in the same direction of Drestig and Nayeli no idea how any of this would unfold. If all of them had the same goal at least to kill the caribou, who got to eat it could wait.

Summary:Triell gives orders for Nayeli to help Drestig. Decides Ruiko,Serach, and himself will try to catch up to the caribou, and heads off to do so.

Zia Celencio
There was little time for any further chit chat. Shortly after her arrival, wolves began to flood towards the hills, attracted by the scent of a potential meal. Rhysis was sent a sharp glare, along with a retaliatory growl. The deep pit gnawing away at her stomach had made her irritable. Phineas arrived next, whose orders she acknowledged with a firm nod. But not before several more wolves of Oak Tree Bend swarmed in, exchanging snarls and threats with their competing neighbors. Without wasting another moment, she took off after Phineas, Borlla and Caniri, along with the others. A sharp bark was issued towards Halgen and Jaden, a command to follow her lead. There was very little time to waste, otherwise the caribou would get away. Or, the wolves of the Bend would get it first.

With keen sapphire eyes, she observed closely the route her packmates took. Usually, it was common for wolves to run directly after their prey for a quick, clean kill. But since competition was present, Zia would opt for a different tactic. She branched off from the main group, and towards the right in a wide arc. Her hope of using this crescent shaped maneuver was to come in slightly ahead of the prey, from the side. Thus giving the wolves of the Glen the advantage, while simultaneously cutting off an escape route for the animal. Using her lanky, long limbed frame, she put her speed to good use, flying through the snow while closing the distance between herself and a fresh, proper meal.

Summary: Zia has taken chase after the caribou. She has branched off to the right in a half circle to try and intercept it from the front or side.

Nayeli Stormwright

Nayeli gave a single curt nod. She understood - Triell's orders were simple. Then, as if she was escaping from a starting-gate, she sped off. The snow underfoot had already been broken as she followed Drestig's steps, and the Stormwright pushed herself faster, faster, faster as she sped after her packmate, the strangers, the prey.

Heart pounding, Nayeli raced after the others. For now her thoughts were only upon her packmate and the prey, but in the back of her mind she kept track of the other wolves who had turned up as well. For the moment, everyone's attention seemed to be focused upon the prey, but that would surely not remain the case forever. Her stomach clenched at the thought of violence befalling her new-found pack, and a stubborn, protective feeling rose up in her - but Nayeli forced herself to ignore her emotions for the moment. All her attention must be on the present, the task at hand. Worrying about hypothetical scenarios, much less plans, was next to useless when the situation was as unpredictable as the current one. She had her orders.

For several moments she tried to gain ground by following the paths already carved out through the snow. Then, her fleet paws sprung out on their own path, steering her slightly northward. She sought to flank the fleeing caribou on the opposite side to Drestig, so that by working together they might have a chance at herding the fleeing beast away from the trees.

[Nayeli is trying to catch up with Drestig, the caribou and the others, and move to the opposite flank from the one he is on. (I'm pretty sure this would put her on the caribou's right?)]

Phineas Argyris
His commanding tone had left no notion for nonsense to follow – he could feel his pack members at his flank, and soon Borlla was at his side. His eyes would catch sight of the silver Zia, branching away, rounding the elk. The regal would give a nod to Borlla, his own figure loping to the left now to take away the beast’s possible escape from that direction, and in turn, moving closer to Drestig.

His paws thrummed the earth as his pace quickened. His muzzle bowed lower as he stalked, fresh snow skipping away from him in a flurry of need. His stomach wrenched as the scent became more and more apparent, yet it still eluded him. His son had died from the cold. From starvation.

Had Kyros been able to hold on a little longer, perhaps he would have made it through the winter. If the opportunity that had rose before them now had presented itself sooner..

They could not lose it. His paws pounded the ground faster, as much as they could given the slick snow and ice below him. His eyes would drift to his pack mates every so often, ensuring they were there. They were with him, and they had not fallen behind. For now, the other pack was of little concern to him. His own members had been seemingly friendly enough, and while pack politics was the last thing on his mind, he also knew they had little time to bicker for the moment. The caribou was on the move and could likely sense them.

Ruiko Tainn
Ruiko clenched his muscles – tension rolling from him as his golden eyes watched the strangers flit past them as they stood. The ivory male from the other pack had summoned his followers, and in turn, they were quick to listen. A low rumble escaped his throat then, as the silver she-wolf darted after her pack mates, and with paws clenched to the ground, the Tainn wolf held firm, awaiting the orders of his own leader.

Triell gave the orders within seconds, and with a huff of relief, the tawny male slipped forward, his large figure roving with purpose as he followed after the ebony form of his younger brother. His eyes would steal quickly in the direction of his nephew, assuring the boy was fine. A man of little words, Ruiko simply focused upon the task at paw, his eyes gleaming as they made to keep up with the wolves who held a head start in the matter.

Oak Tree Bend was not a pack to be pushed aside, and with the Bend’s Leader hinting the pack’s were on unknown ground with one another, the tawny wolf was certain to not stray too far from Triell’s side as he ran. The snow clumped to his fur, causing discomfort within his pawpads – he paid no heed to it. All he could focus on for the moment was the unfolding hunt, and the chance to fill the pack’s belly with more sustenance than they had seen in months.

Corinna would have reveled at the chance.
