Ruiko's question shocked Amélie because she had never looked at humans as a threat to her. "I guess so. But I'm sort of alive because of them." After all, had they not rescued her parents and allowed them to flourish on their lands, she would not have been born to begin with. "They're a lot like us. Some good, some bad. Not all are out to hurt us." Amélie shrugged, a soft smile rising onto her maw. "I actually think some even love our kind." she told him, chuckling out loud, her cheeks rising to meet her eyes. "Anyway, now I'm supposed to spread the word and breed to repopulate." Her cheeks grew hot as she told him this, a little embarrassed. "Relic Lore seems to be doing very well, though."

Her initial answer was somewhat of a surprise to him – he had never met a creature or wolf grateful or humble to a human, and while she didn’t speak fondly of them, she certainly didn’t seem to begrudge them anything as she even praised a bit of them. While the tawny male disagreed with her statement of differences, he held his tongue in check, for he was neither looking for a debate or an argument, and the truth of the matter was that he knew very little about humans. There was no point in a verbal duel over differentiating opinions, especially when the girl before him actually had experiences with them.

Not that it mattered – her next words would have erased any formulating concerns he had in his mind as she mentioned that it was now her duty to breed. Ruiko blinked for a moment – never before had he heard a female say this, and he could feel his lips twist in the sudden amusement he drew from the situation. She looked embarrassed at what she had said, and while he kept more of his crude remarks to himself, the male did cant his muzzle slightly to the side, unwilling to fully let this new topic be washed away by the discussion of Relic Lore. “That is why they put you back in to the wild? Is it not instinct to want to breed?”

Amélie wasn't sure of what Ruiko would say, but she hoped that the subject of Relic Lore would veer him off the whole breeding subject. He, however, did the complete opposite of that. Amelie felt the rush of blood, her cheeks burning hot and turning bright red. Oh how embarrassing! Smiling coyly, Amé shrugged as her icy eyes rested on the ground and as far away from Ruiko's as possible. It is," she agreed nervously as she thought about how strange this conversation had become.

It was interesting how she suddenly found the ground much more interesting than him.

He was, just like any ass of a wolf, quite amused by this new antic he had taken on, and the golden wolf could almost feel the embarrassment radiating from her. Indru would have been a gentleman and steered the topic to where the she-wolf was comfortable – but what was the fun in that? Despite the flush in her cheeks, Ruiko was still remaining quite harmless.

“Then why the need to follow orders of a human? Especially something that you will crave in the end.” There was a small pause, his bright eyes flashing with amusement. And she would crave it – maternal instinct would win her over, and the day would come that she would desire a litter of whelps of her own. “Were there no suitable males in your old home?”

Ruiko kept on going! His continuous flow of words brought back her fallen gaze to him, and she laughed, amused by his boldness. Well, if he wasn't going to stop, and wasn't embarrassed a bit then why should she be? "Your right," she replied, confidence now present again in her voice. He went on to ask her if there had not been any suitable males back home, and she nodded 'yes'. "There were quite a few. But what was the point? The humans would someday release us. No point in getting attached to someone I'd be taken away from." Her family had been more than enough. "And besides. Boys were never a big interest of mine. I always preferred seeking adventure over seeking boys." After all, despite not seeming to be, Ame was quite the dare-devil.

And so his amusement was shut down the moment those silver blue eyes of hers flashed with confidence rather than embarrassment – though the tawny male was content to know that she hadn’t taken him fully serious. Had she been extremely uncomfortable with the situation he would have amicably backed away from the topic.

“You were separated then?” It was an odd concept to him – if they were all going to be released, she wouldn’t have needed to have left whatever chosen lover she had.. unless, they separated them at different times. Ruiko felt a wave of sympathy for the girl – she might not have felt sad at being taken from her family, but he knew he would have been devastated. There weren’t many things in life the large wolf appreciated, but his family was his first priority.

"Yes, all of us. I don't know why." she told him, frowning. "I just try not to dwell on it. I will find my family soon." At least she hoped so. In an attempt to veer the conversation again, this time completely away from herself, she inquired about Ruiko's family. "You're family is with you, yes?" she asked, her former smile appearing again. "That must be wonderful...living here with them. You're very lucky." She was completely alone for the very first time ever. What kept the solidarity out of her mind was all the adventures she could now take. Boundaries no longer existed.

The she-wolf seemed rather confidant that she would be reunited with her loved ones, and for a moment the tawny male darkly wondered if she realized just how large the world was outside of the enclosure she had grown up in. Ruiko did not comment on this, instead, he chose to be a gentleman rather than an ass for the first time in this conversation, and gave a quiet nod that signified he believed she would find her family once more. It was a possibility, after all.

Her question now dwelled upon him, and again the River wolf gave a brief nod of his cream muzzle. “My family has claimed land by a river in the Sacred Grove.” Of course, a stoical wolf, the large male did not reveal the recent death of his parents, or the fire that had forced them from their home. Nor did he speak his agreement to her of his luck – he knew he was.

The interlude they had shared was brief, though Ruiko took away with him a drawling amusement to her initial words and reaction. She was a charming creature, but Ruiko had a family to return to at home. With an exchanged farewell, the tawny wolf soon swept away from the area, his paws leading him to the Swift River region.
