Disappointed. Again. He drew the keychain-sized mace spray from his pocket, the keys unceremoniously clinking. He might not have sprayed the stinging substance at her, but he spritzed just enough in the air for it to waft her way. "I still need my wallet," he dictated. "Of course, Naira wouldn't take it," he began in some sort of sickly-sweet tune. "And you confirmed that someone had taken it! So where is it?!"

Sagacity hissed and side-stepped, squinting. She knew that spray- she'd been disciplined before, and crouched, knowing better than to run away, but blinked over and over again to keep too much of it from getting in her eyes. Her temper flared, but she kept it at bay. I used to hunt these monsters, She thought, but couldn't do anything about it now. Now she was their slave, their pet. She was a monster too.

"I'll find it," She said. "It's hard to track a glove," She said. "...Take me to where you saw it last; I may be able to pick up something there."

It might have given him a bit of satisfaction to see her momentarily cringe and draw away. "I'll find it," she told him, letting him know that it would be hard to track a pair of leather gloves. She suggested that he take her to where he had seen it last and he simply let the scowl return to his pallid face. "Fine. Come on then," he instructed, walking around to the passenger side and unlocking the car. "Get in."

She climbed into the car when instructed and sat, looking out the window with a focused gaze as they drove back to the manor. The whole time, all Sagacity could think about was the smell on the gloves.

And it wasn't until they passed the boardwalk and she caught a brief glimpse of two figures huddling together that she realized who they belonged to.

She would say nothing until they reached Mapplethorpe and Naira's quarters; where she would 'confirm' Evann's scent...And then set out on a real hunt.
