April – Spring – Early Evening – Partly Cloudy — Current Temperature: 43° F/6° C

The Silver Male had been exploring the territories around Magnolia Glen in the late afternoon when it was warmer, to see what was close by and could be a danger to his new family. So far he hadn’t scented a whiff of pack borders, which was a good thing. Competing for food and territory was not something he would have liked to be doing in a pack, especially when the packs were hungry and emotionally drained from the harsh winter.

Padding through the red fern forest – which explained everything about it – he was alertly and constantly looking around him, nose twitching and ears rotating. He did not know the area much, if at all, and so all of his senses were on the lookout for predators or other wolves. But it was very quiet, and so Ace doubted anything would happen. But one could never be too relaxed in the world. After all, it only took a few seconds for something to happen and for a life to end.

The trees were spaced a fair amount apart, letting the evening sun shine down from above, a half-moon of orange and yellow amongst a patchwork quilt of dark blue and faded white. The day was almost coming to a close, and so the Silver Male turned his large bulk around to head back in the direction of the borders, and ultimately the den site. It would take him a fair while to return home, but not too long. He didn’t stray too far from his home, as it was dangerous to be by oneself in the night.

James Slayer

He had been roaming for a while. His mind stuck on the young girl he had met by the falls. She was a train wreck of emotions. All he could wonder was if she was safe and well taken care of. While he wondered if his assumption on possibly mental damage was true he was well behaved and kept his mouth closed about it. Maybe one day he would be able to know without sounding rude.

For now though James would enjoy the warmer evening in the red forest. He took in all the ferns growing in it and kept account that it might be a good hunting ground. Yet before he could get very far a large form was moving in his direction. A silver and cream male it appeared to be. Staying calm James slowed down his pace and formed a friendly smile.

"Hello sir! The name is James Slayer, what brings a man like yourself out here?" It was how James started most of his conversations. His name and the curious question of the other's intentions wherever they were located. Hopefully this male would be more friendly and less dramatic then the young emotional girl he met earlier. Maybe this male could even prove to be a friend to be. James needed a few so it wouldn't hurt to get friendly with the silver and cream beast. So for now he kept his smile and surly started to wag his tail slowly.

Ace had been so caught up in his thoughts that he didn’t see or scent another wolf until the voice called out. He froze in his tracks, ears swiveling to face forwards and his eyes upon the wolf, which was clearly a male. The stranger sported a plain black coat, no hints of other colours anywhere the he could see, and amber eyes stood out against his dark face. His build was muscular, but he was also a few inches smaller than him, as was most wolves he met, but there was a friendly smile on the other’s face, and as the gentleman and friendly wolf he was, the Silver Male returned it, his tail also waving amicably.

Creamy ears twitched at the mention of the wolf’s name: James Slayer. A curious expression crossed his face at the name, but he did not question the darker male immediately about it, first he had to introduce himself as the other had. “It is good to meet you… James. I am Ace Caravello, part of a pack called Magnolia Glen nearby. I was scouting out the area, to check if there were any packs close to us.” He had paused on the wolf’s name, but it didn’t mean he didn’t believe him, he was just curious as to the last name. He knew three wolves who had that, and one was the pup he had sworn to protect with his life. Maybe they were related? “If I may ask James, are you related to a wolf who goes by the name of Shade Slayer?” It was worth a shot to ask, right?

"It is good to meet you… James. I am @Ace Caravello, part of a pack called Magnolia Glen nearby."

Was everyone he met coming from Magnolia Glen? Whether it was true or not it sure felt like it. Deciding not to tell the male he was formerly from Magnolia Glen, James kept his mouth shut tightly. "Nice to meet you too. As for packs, I'm afraid I can be no help there." Keeping a smile to his face James let out a small little yawn. He wasn't bored, he was merely tired from bounding place to place like a lost child. Sure he enjoyed the adventure and free roaming but he was a wolf. Wolves needed a pack to live in, social structures and order. Truly James wasn't cut out to keep bounding about like this. He craved socialization of a pack.

Hearing the question of being related to Shade Slayer, James gave a nod. "That's what they tell me. Same father but different mothers." Pausing for a moment to let that sink in James looked over the male. Perhaps he was looking for shock, happiness, or sadness. He had met that one young girl who told him Shade was dead. That caused a bit of confusion in his head. How had his half-brother died? Was he really dead, or just lost? Looking to the silver male with the confusion showing in his eyes. "I met a younger girl earlier. Said Shade was her father. Also said he was...dead. Is it true?" His voice gave away a partial sadness to the news of death about a brother he never met.

Nodding at the Slayer’s words, he looked around for a few moments. He did not expect strangers to help him out, whether they were holding back information or not, but he was always welcome to suggestions or friendly tips. Maybe the male was new to Relic Lore, or just the immediate area, whichever it was, maybe he could convince him to join Magnolia Glen. It wasn’t that they needed more members, but James seemed capable enough to handle his own, possibly become a guardian. But as always, he wanted to know a bit more about the wolf before extending an invitation, it was no use bringing a liar into their midst.

Creamy ears pricked at his affirmation of being related to his first friend and leader, Shade Slayer, through their father. Now that he had been told of his relation, he could see the similarities in him and his old friend. But before he could speak, ask a question, the darkly furred man spoke about Adsila, and asked if Shade was really dead. Turning his head to the side, Ace stood still for a few moments, making sure his emotions weren’t all over the place. Yes, he had come to terms with his death, but it was still painful to think about.

Turning back to James, a grim smile on his face, he replied in a soft voice. “Yes, that is Adsila, she and her brother had been parentless when they were only a few months old, and from that moment I, as well as other pack mates brought them up.” Pausing, he swallowed, feeling as if his throat was trying to close itself up and suffocate him. “As for Shade’s death: it is true. A woman on the other side of the mountain by the name of Elettra fought him, and he died from fatal wounds by her paws.” He could speak no more, and stared silently at James, willing himself to act strong and not let his emotions rule over him.

(Short post, I apologize!)
She and her brother? There was more than just Adsila? Although he should have been excited and joyed to hear such things he wasn't. Instead he was upset and disappointed. Did this mean more would be angry at him? He whinced slightly at the thought of such things. He could only hope the boy was more understanding unlike this Adsila niece of his.

Though he became more angered as Ace told him more. A woman named Elettra. He knew he was supposed to respect others but he swore if he ever crossed this woman's path he would seek revenge. How could someone just murder another? It was obvious he was highly displeased by a sour look on his face. "How could she do such things?" His voice low, silent like a whisper, almost as if he was asking himself.

Shaking his head lightly he looked to Ace. "I'm sorry sir, this isn't how our first meeting should go. Please allow us to start over. On a lighter topic. I am a curious fellow, looking to adventure a bit. Do you know this land well? Or at least well enough to give me a bit of instructions around." Changing his atitude and the conversation James smiled to @Ace warmly. Perhaps they could even do a bit of adventuring together sometime.

The Slayer Male’s face contorted in anger and displeasure as Ace told him about Shade’s death, which he would have expected from a blood relative. Even though it was the way of the wolf to do such things, it still angered him to think that his friend had died by the claws of another that he had once considered an ally, but he attempted to keep the emotions locked up inside. He would NOT show any weaknesses or insecurities in front of another, it was how he had been brought up to act, and it made him feel weak, useless, pathetic, like a traitor being compared to a king. He had once let his emotions get the better of him, and that had ended in disaster, so he had vowed to never do it again, but whenever he became frustrated, it was very easy for him to become angry over almost anything.

“I do not know, maybe in her mind it must have been the required action against something that he had done, but what, I do not know.” Ace spoke in a toneless voice, unwilling to show the sadness and grief that he felt inside, but also not wanting to seem cold and harsh to the Slayer Male. He was still a helpful and benevolent wolf, but also one that did not let others see his emotions and show his insecurities.

Glancing up to meet amber eyes with his own silver eyes, the Silver Male nodded at the others’ words. Yes, it was a good idea to start fresh and leave the misery behind them, at least, as much as they could. He nodded again, a warm smile appearing on his face. “I do know this land, but not as well as others, as I have only lived here for three months,” chuckling softly, Ace let his previous emotions slip away, and let his mood lighten back to its usual splendor. “A bit south of here is a pack, Magnolia Glen, which I am a member of, and further south is another pack, but I do not know the name of it. Be wary though, a year ago I along with Shade and others had a run in with a member of the pack, and he wasn’t very friendly, especially as he threatened to hurt the pups.” His brows furrowed at the memory of the encounter, and he held back a growl that threatened to escape from his jaws.

“There is also another pack, Cut Rock River, which reside over the mountain and beyond. Adsila and Karpos live there now, but other than that, I have no other information to give.” Now finished speaking, Ace closed his maw and glanced around, taking in the red scenery around him, aware that the sun was slowly setting, and that he needed to return back to the pack den soon.
