Partly Cloudy — Current Temperature: 43°F — Raining!

He'd been bustling around for awhile, doing all he could to keep stuff stocked as no one needed his healing arts at that time. Even if he wasn't completely trained he still knew a lot and he wondered how he was to learn more if he was the only one with some sort of knowledge as to how to use herbs to treat illness and injuries. He was forced to take shelter in the pack den with a freak storm on the rise in the meadow. Rain had just started pouring down in sheets and it had taken him by surprise. By the time he had gotten back to shelter his pelt was soaking wet, dripping from all the water. "Proklyatyye buri gubyat moy den'." He hissed silently to himself.

Kass shook off his pelt as he attempted to get it somewhat dry before he caught a cold or something. He didn't intend on getting sick anytime soon. There were more important things than coughing and sneezing for days on end. "Nadeyus', chto eti proklyatyye dozhdi prekrashchayutsya v blizhaysheye vremya." He said aloud as he stared out on the meadow getting rained on. A small sigh as he wrinkled his nose. He hated the rain, it always brought worms and he hated worms. they were so creepy, crawling around the dirt in need of moisture. It was sickening. He thought to himself about how he would have been forced to sit out in the rain if he had still been in Rock Mountain. His father and mother would have brought everyone else into the den and left him out there to get rained on without allowing him back in as well as hoping that lightning would strike him, their son.

This thread looked lonely :)

Titan's world was a mess and all he could do was sit there and watch as the pack had split into two. He was kinda happy the old geezer had left, but as for Minka and Inali the boy was less than pleased. They might have been stern with him at times but those two ladies had been there since the beginning of his life. The shadowy prince could remember all the questions he had asked Minka, and all the fun times he'd had romping with Inali.

So now as the child padded slowly through the cavern moping as he had since the packs split. Everything was just so different now.

His pawsteps took him to Simaea's old den deep within the cave. The smell of dried herbs permeated the air around here and reminded the young male of another pack member who had not come back after traveling when the late winter storms struck.

Simaea and Malia..... Titan's eye's grew dull as he remembered his sister. Everything seemed less fun in the world now, with no sister to make things more exciting.

Sniffing around the medicinal herbs, Titan recalled his last meeting with Simaea. She had taught him about three lethal plants which only brought death, and had furthered his small amount of knowledge on the medicinal herb called Arnica.

Suddenly interested in seeing if he could pick out those herbs again Titan began nosing around the piles trying to remember their individual scents. His dark blue gaze rolled over the crevices along the walls where each dried herb pile still lay. There were so many plants that Titan didn't know nestled into the walls. He wondered which ones healed or killed.

After a few minutes the pup had pawed at four crevices bringing their contents out onto the floor into neat little piles. When Simaea had shown the dark child the same herbs they had been fresh and easily identified. Now they were all dry and withered. He could pick out a few major physical differences between each, but it was their scent that gave each plant away.

Shuffling the plants into a line Titan finally stepped back to inspect the dangerous things.

"The flower is dull, dry, and dark orange now, but the stiff hairy leaves and smell make this one Arnica..." Titan looked over the dried remains of the herb he himself had brought to simaea from the rise. Back then the pup had been surprisingly wise enough to carry the herb in a large sycamore leaf after hearing a loners warning on how dangerous the plant could be. This might kill a wolf if too much is eaten, but it is used to help cure something... Did Simaea tell me? Titan could not remember that much. All he had really sponged up from their little lesson were the plants names, physical looks, and whether they would kill or not.

"This one is..Am..Amani..amanida, no... Amanita muscaria...and it kills anyone who eats it." He commented to himself looking over the mushroom which of the four herbs was the most well preserved. Perhaps the humidity of the cave kept the thing in a semi-living state as Titan's eyes noted the still bright red cap and white gills.

Titan turned his gaze to the next herb in line. This one also will kill someone if they eat it. He had immediately recognized this plant before when first looking through all the crevices. Both red and green dried berries were still colored well enough to distinguish from the other plants. "The flowers have all fallen off, but the heart shaped leaves, the tall stick part of the plant, and its smell make this Nightshade." He was glad he had remembered three of the four herbs so far. Even the hard to remember mushroom had not evaded his memory.

"And this is cowbane.." He looked over the purple and white striped stems and the white tube-like roots of this plant which took up a larger portion of the floor than most of the other herbs. This plant was much larger than many of the other flowering ones. This'll kill me if eaten...just like all the rest. Titan thought quietly while pushing the plant with his paws back into its own crevice along the wall.

Titan made sure to put each herb back knowing that he wouldn't want anyone else to notice he had been messing around in the medicine den. He didn't think about his smell being left behind since the smell of plants overrode most every other scent in there. Then the dark child left her den and slowly made his way back to the main room. He never noticed the wolf scent as he decreased the distance between himself and the newer pack wolf. All Titan could focus on was what he should do now.

<3 It was very lonely! THANK YOU TABS!!!

The rain outside made Kass feel rather dreary and irritated. How was he to learn if he was to get sick when he tried to? A small growl of annoyance from his muzzle and then he saw another wolf off in the distance. He was younger than Kass and so the healer figured that he was a pup of the Caverns. A small wag of his tail as his day brightened. He hoped the freak storm would end soon so he could go out for herbs once more. Kass had the scent of many of them on his pelt. "H... Helo?" He tried to greet the pup as his thick Russian accent further distorted the greeting to the prince of the Caverns. The pup seemed at thought and Kass wondered what deep thinking the pup could be doing.

The prince had the faintest scent of herbs which suggested he had been around them but not carrying them or rolling around in them. Was this boy interested in healing as Kass was? "Y-you h..heal?" He asked softly as he tried to break through his Russian accent and the language barriers set up for him in those parts. He drew a deep breathe as the still damp yearling rose onto his paws. His limbs ached as they had for a while from all the running he did. He had a wide gait and it really stretched out his legs and gave them the workout. It also made the healer kinda clumsy and appear to be lanky even though he wasn't technically.

He waited for the prince to answer him in any way, shape, or form. He liked meeting new wolves because it was a whole new sense of learning. He also needed to get to know his packmates because that was what pack wolves did. They communicated, even if it wasn't well.

"H... Helo?" The stranger startled Titan with his greeting. The dark child stopped mid-stride and looked up at Kassander with wide eyes before sniffing the air. Ash's scent is on him... Titan thought quietly while putting his paw down and flattening his fur. The other male had a wag to his tail which further set the boys heart at ease. Sizing up the other male for a moment Titan realized that he was pretty young; though fully matured as a male.

"Hello there." Was the short greeting Titan gave the male he barely knew. However since there were so few wolves around now Titan was sure he would be seeing this newer guy quite often.

The stranger who had yet to speak his name was of shorter stature than Titan. He was a larger wolf, but obviously mid-sized for their breed. The mans coat had colors very similar to Sloane Thorben, Titan's father, but was a bit darker overall than his fathers red, rust, gray and cream fur. The eyes were very similar though, similar enough to have Titan unnerved while looking at them. Switching his glance back to the opening of the cave Titan snorted angrily. He had wanted to go out but if it was storming the young Thorben was definitely staying inside.

"Y-you h..heal?" The question stuttered past the stranger males muzzle as his tail continued to wag. Titan heard the strangeness of the mans voice and tilted his head a bit to listen to it. Does he have a problem speaking? Titan thought quietly while the rain battered against the cavern roof.

"I...I think plants are cool." Titan spoke a bit unsure of what he really wanted to say. He did like knowing what the plants could do, but healing? Did he want to help others?

If I had been there for Malia could I have helped her? He asked the question to himself silently. Had Titan known about herbs could he have pulled her out of the lagoon and helped her somehow? If something happens to ma or Yuka it would be nice to know how I could help them I guess... He nodded quietly to himself gathering the confidence to really answer his new pack mate. Sure he could fight and push any smaller wolf over, but fighting didn't help everyone. Just like how it didn't help his mom while she had her concussion. Only herbs had helped her.

"I want to learn to heal." Titan looked back up to Kassander wondering why he had asked about healing in the first place. Does he know something about herbs?

The boy greeted him and so Kass waved his tail back in forth in a wag. He said something about wanting to learn to heal and Kassander let a giant grin fall upon his muzzle. "I heal!" He said excitingly. He didn't know everything but further helping the boy could aid his English attempts. Kass almost broke out in full Russian he was so excited. Well, he couldn't hold it back for long. "YA ne ekspert po istseleniyu, no ya mog by nauchit' vas, yesli vy khoteli by." He rambled off with his thick accent and in a deep Russian tone too. He didn't have to explain himself, instead he just frowned. It was an English speaking pack and so Kassander mumbled out an apology.

"Sowwee, I Russian. Different speak." He tried to explain to the pup in hopes he would understand. He let out a desperate plea to the pup next, something he had never really though about asking before. "I teach healing. You teach English?" He asked the pup, though he doubted the boy would say yes. Still, he might be tempted to agree. Kass wasn't sure how well he would be able to pick up on English even since there was no way to get a Russian translation to know what the words meant. He could still try. The light tawny man normally wouldn't ask some wolf who was younger than him for such an important thing but he was becoming more frustrated than ever. After all, who wouldn't be when you spoke a different language than everyone.

The man's tail continued to wag back and forth as he happily answered Titan's question with, I heal! Titan seriously wondered about the young man. How can he heal if he can't talk right? The child asked himself right before Kassander started talking nonsense words that meant nothing to the prince. If anything it confused Titan more as he tilted his head to the side and gave Kassander a bemused look.

The man frowned then stopping his wagging tail and putting on an apologetic look. The dark pup inched his nose closer sniffing the male once more in a friendly gesture before Kassander spoke in choppy english that Titan could understand.

"Sowwee, I Russian. Different speak." The stranger spoke while Titan nodded in understanding. He wasn't sure what breed of wolf Russian was, but it must be a strange breed for them to speak differently. "I teach healing. You teach English?" Titan was surprised at the offer. He wondered how long it would take to teach this Russian wolf English words. Obviously he couldn't teach him about plants until the stranger knew the english names of the plants too.

"Ummm.. I guess that is okay." The prince shuffled his paws a little nervous at the fact that he would be the one teaching someone. Titan had been on the receiving end when it came to education, never had he been the one to teach another.

"Wait a minute... What. is. your. name?" Titan asked the male gesturing to Kassander with his muzzle hoping the guy understood that much. Titan waited patiently letting his tail lower more comfortably behind his hocks.

Sorry this took so long @Titan

The boy seemed to be alright with him as he started to speak once more. What. Is. Your. Name? The question rang in his ear as the boy started to point to his (Kassander's) muzzle. It was a question about his muzzle? No, it was something he had to respond to. It was also involving two words he had picked up on but now he knew the whole sentence. What was his name? "Name is Kassander." He spoke slowly as he formed his words to the pup, trying to make sure he got things down and saved it to his mind. He hoped that one day he would learn to be fluent in both Russian, his native tongue, and in English, this foreign language to him that was of the land of the Lore as the common tongue.

Kassander drew a deep breathe and then released it, hoping that he would be alright and pick up on it quickly. It would be nice to have a conversation with someone without having to use some kind of shorthand language as communication. One to two word sentences were all he could manage to understand except this boy was teaching him. The only English that Kassander knew was the different herb names as his mother had taught him and she had known only the English names despite being Russian. She looked almost sad that it was all he could do. His still damp fur was drying still as the rain fell outside. This is probably the most productive thing he could be doing on a stormy day like that. He didn't want to get sick after all.

Titan smiled as Kassander seemed to register his words. Or at least he hoped the word uttered from the males lips was his name and not actually some obscenity that the boy did not know of. Then he smiled good naturedly; with eyes bright with curiosity and excitement, Titan lifted his paw and gestured to his chest.

"Name... Titan Thorben." He gestured to himself sharply during the pause before saying his name. The young Thorben wondered how exactly he was going to teach Kassander. I guess I can try to teach him about the stuff in the cave for now..It's best to know every nook and cranny in the den.

Moving his muzzle and pointing to the walls, the entrance, and then to the back of the caverns main room, Titan spoke warmly. "Home...Cave. Cavern." He wagged his tail while looking around at the stalactites and stalagmites.

Then Titan shook his ruff then padded to a stone pillar along the far side of the main room.

Gesturing to the pillar with his nose Titan then spoke. "Rock...Stone." Then he moved his nose to a paw-sized pebble. "Rock..." Then he piled a larger number of pebbles and a few larger rocks together. Sweeping his muzzle over the pile Titan spoke again while looking at Kassander out of the corner of his blue eye. "Rocks." Titan waited until Kassander either replied or nodded in understanding before heading towards a crack in the stone wall.

"Tunnel." Titan gestured to the darkness within the stone wall then paused to see if the gray wolf was following. The Thorben planned to take Kassander to Simaea's den so that he would at least know where their herbs were kept. Maybe then the newcomer could make the medicine den his own.

@Titan <3

Kass gave a small smile as he seemed to understand the words better as he slowly started to learn the English language other than the names of herbs. Name... Titan Thorben. Kassander smiled as he finally understood the words. "You Titan Thorben." He said confidently and without hesitation in response to the pup's words. Home... cave. Cavern. The boy motioned to different parts of the cave as he spoke and Kassander was pretty confident that he understood what the boy was getting at. He tried to speak again, a full sentence to him though not to the boy necessarily. "Dis home is cave cavern." He said slowly as he looked to the pup, his teacher at the moment, to see if he had it right. His accent might have made it hard for him to understand but he was trying at the very least.

Kass looked at his paws as the boy led him deeper into the cave. Rock. Stone. The yearling shook his head up and down to signify that he understood as he spoke again. "Made of Rock Stone." He pieced together some brief words he already knew to go with the words he was learning. Cave cavern. Rock stone. Titan Thorben. Name. He was learning a lot from the pup and it made him feel elated. The boy spoke once more, signifying a group of the rock stones and as he said rocks. "Dey rocks." He struggled slightly on the pronunciation of it all. Why were they not called rock stones if one was just called a rock stone? It confused the boy greatly but he continued to pay attention as the boy said tunnel. "Cave cavern is tunnel?" He repeated, hoping he understood alright.

He was led into a medicine den and he felt at home as he went and sniffed all the herbs to get a sense of what was there. He took out a few herbs and placed them before the boy. "You can name?" He asked with one of the new words. He wanted to know if the boy knew the proper names or if Kass had to teach them to him. He had laid out ergot, lavender, black hawthorn, and arnica.

Titan nodded as his name was said correctly, and also when Kassander spoke about the cave being home."Home is this cave." He answered correcting the male lightly. Titan quickly decided to leave it at one name for each thing instead of describing both names for the cavern. as long as he calls it a cave then we're good.

He growled happily as Kassander then pointed out his pile of rocks correctly. "Yes." Titan nodded enthusiastically. He was actually rather enjoying this job of "teaching" so far. ,p>However the next sentence out of Kassanders muzzle had him a bit perplexed. Though Titan had an idea of what was being asked. "The cave HAS A tunnel." When Titan spoke the words "cave" he pointed to the big main room, but when he said the word "tunnel" he pointed his nose to the crack in the wall.

Upon entering Simaea's den, or what was now going to be Kassander's den, Titan watched as the male began sniffing around the walls. The young Thorben watched curiously as Kassander sniffed around the crevices where the herbs were kept then pulled out a few to lay them in neat piles on the floor of the den.

As the male spoke Titan strained forward to listen. Can you name? Does he mean name these like as a question? he thought quietly pretty sure that Kassander wanted him to name the herbs on the floor. Unfortunately Titan only recognized one herb.

Leaning down to look at the dried leaves covered in little hairs. Sniffing them once assured him that Kassander had pulled out Arnica. Gesturing to the herb Titan replied, "This is Arnica." Then he looked to the other three herbs and shook his head "no" while looking each new herb over.

"I do. not. know. these." He spoke slowly and shook his head once more to make sure Kassander got the point. Those herbs he did not know of.
