@Orren

Furtive glances were passed to and fro; there was little room for calm in a chaotic mind. That was how he spent his nights. Awake. Restless. Mostly moving, he barely spared a glance for anything and yet his eyes made contact with everything. It kept the demons at bay. And by the time the sunlight broke the edge of the horizon, he would find a place and make camp. Though even then his tired eyes continued to watch, shifting under the lids of his eyes in a terror stricken dream.

His movements were slow; lethargic, he was unwilling to move at a pace that suggested anything other than a stroll through the forest. And even then it was a mindless walk, devoid of much meaning other than movement. The sun rose high over the marsh, and he was already past his routine stopping point for turning down for the night. If his body kept moving in heat, he was sure it was only a matter of time before it gave out. Night was his weakness and his strength at the point in time and he preferred it to the jolting light of the day.

His movement slowed, ears flicking atop his head as his gaze turned towards the forest. He would find temporary shelter there, no doubt. He might have paid heed to the fact that there was a pack very near by, but his mind had room enough only for his immediate needs. His weight shifted and he moved into the shade of the trees, his body seeming to sigh in relief as he moved away from the taxing sunlight. Now to find a hollowed log or rock shallow to lay himself down in to wait out the day. With his back to the sound and scent of the river, he began his search.

It would be a simple matter, and then he would be on his way once more.
