Kisla Baranski

Orren was at her side in an instant, and stealing her eyes away from the crowd for only a stolen moment, she glanced over the child, reassuring he was okay. She expected no less in the care of Naia, but they were not only in the presence of strangers.. but wolves of the Caverns. One ear flickered in the direction of her Second’s hushed whisper, her eyes lifting to fall upon her gentle face before sternly turning back to the strangers.

It was then she recognized the silver female – she had visited Oak Tree Bend once before, offering a mouth full with a name and title, as if it mattered to other packs. It meant nothing to the Baranski lady that this she-wolf had founded the pack – or, even that she lived it. What mattered to her was how close she was to her borders.

The elk leg was looked at – not with disdain, but disinterest. Maksim had indeed helped a boy in the winter.. it was not in her husband’s good nature to let one so young starve. She coolly ignored the implication of the random rank the arrogant female had delivered her -- you look higher up. Unlike others, Kisla felt no need to lift her muzzle any higher than the dominance she currently bestowed, nor did she tag a title to her name.

More importantly, the low growl that seeped past the Cavern wolf and the sharp look she dare cast to Naia ruffled the regal’s fur, and stiffening, she took a step forward, shielding Orren from view and in turn, cutting off the ability to reach her scout. “She does not answer to you, so you will do well to not order her about,” she finally allowed, her tail giving a light slash in the air as her eyes fixated boldly upon the female. “Whisper Caverns is not welcome within these forests as long as Ash Hervock remains in your ranks. Take your ‘gift’ and leave.”

I'll just exit her if that's okay with you guys :)

She was answered by the lead female narrowing her gaze as the woman gave her the evil eye. The trees cracked and popped as if the tension between the five wolves frightened them. Standing her ground as the she wolf named Kisla stepped forward shielding her pup, Nari let her hackles raise slightly. She held herself there for a moment debating on what to do before glancing to Namid. Her eyes were sharp now losing that gentleness that had been there while gazing upon the pup. Now she speaks with a tone as authoritative as her role model Elettra.

"We will go NOW, and neither you nor the rest of the pack are allowed to come near this forest. Understand?" Her steely words were directed to Namid before Nari shifted stiffly to the side in order to claim her elk leg. Then with a low growl she moved abiding the Cut Rock River leaders warning, and began trotting back the way she had come. Her tail flicked upward ordering Namid to follow her before the silver she wolf allowed her stride to lengthen. She was in a bad mood now, and talking to Ash was at the top of her list of things to do. She wanted to hear this story from him and see if the Cut Rock River subordinate had been telling a lie, the whole truth, or merely just a part of it. Bristling in anger as she disappeared through the vegetation Nari made her way back towards home hoping that the comfort of her family would take awa the added stress that had accumulated on her shoulders.

Whisper Caverns
They flood and stretch the universe

The pale girl’s head spun with all this information that was given. One of which chilled her to the bone was the tidbit that their own leader, presumably Ash or so she’d heard his name, had dropped an innocent pup into river rapids just to go and trail after some girl. She could only imagine the screams and squeals of such a young canine, and it made her cringe inwardly. A frown marred her maw as the tension increased until the air was electric, as if anything else could make the environment snap like a thin rubber band and send everything into turmoil. The worst thing was that all of this had started with her attempt at good will. If she hadn’t stopped, then none of this would have happened. However, she still believed that it may have been for the best. This new information would ultimately have an outcome and if she hadn’t stopped than the boy may have wondered off to never be found. Either way, she was experiencing some inner turmoil of her own at that moment which she needed to sort through.

Her attention was brought sharply back to the current and her heart briefly stopped at her leaders crisp bark. Her ears flattened and she automatically lowered herself, fighting back a whine from escaping her jaws. The Star Dancer’s heart sank at her words, they were banned from visiting Cedarwood forest. Namid knew that not far from their location was where Grizzly Hollow resided, a place so important to Rook that it would make his entire journey worth nothing if he couldn’t go there. She had really messed up, messed up badly. And it would end up hurting the wolf she cared for most. This was really not good. With a heavy heart she turned and followed her leader, whose anger and annoyance flowed off of her in waves. The worry of being kicked from the pack now was placed on her shoulders, and she fought off a panic attack. Oh, why was she such a good soul?

Orren Baranski

Orren could hardly follow what they were talking about - but the tension in the air was obvious, making his hair stand on end. Exhaustion battled against nervousness in him, and the boy leaned gratefully against Kisla's tall legs, trying not to shake. Slowly, some of the words the adults were throwing around began to sink in. A pup, abandoned to rapids? What on earth were they talking about? The idea filled him with fear.

Following the retreat of the strangers with wide eyes, Orren sucked in a breath, his ears pressing back in consternation. Ma - he began haltingly, looking back upwards towards his mother's face. He hoped she wasn't too angry at him. I'm really sorry. There was this bird, an I thought if I could catch it.... he trailed off, scratching sheepishly at the earth with his paws. Who were those wolves? It seemed important to know, if they really were enemies.

He snuck a quick glance back at Naia, for it had been her that mentioned that word. He wasn't exactly sure what it meant - he'd always pictured an enemy as the dark things in his nightmares, or maybe Aleksei (but only during a game of pretend). He had never really considered what it actually meant to have real foes before. A cold shiver went over him, and he was suddenly even more thankful that his mother and Naia had come to his rescue. He would take whatever punishment was given, just as long as they could all go home now. But he was still curious, still scared, and so he had to ask....

Naia Aegina

♦♦♦♦♦

Though the opposite alpha demanded answers from her, Naia remained silent. She had already said too much out of turn. Her eyes softened at the leader’s angry look—clearly Narime had no idea what Naia was talking about. Naia could empathize. Discovering a loved one’s treacherous past was shocking, she knew. She wouldn’t be the one to deliver that bit of news... she would leave that to Kisla, if she so desired. The River leader stepped forward protectively, objecting to the order Narime had given her. Naia might have smiled if the situation had been less tense. She was beginning to see her favorite qualities of Maksim in this leader as well—his honor, his protectiveness, his support… Naia had always felt safe when the Baranski male was beside her, and perhaps it would soon be likewise with the Baranski female. Naia could think of no family she would be more proud to serve.

Kisla dismissed the Whisper Caverns wolves with a curlicue of her tail, finally dropping Ash’s name as the last piece of the puzzle. Naia imagined there would be a lot of questions for him down in the caves tonight. The honey-eyed wolf bent down to lay her nose against the back of Orren’s neck supportively. No doubt he had been scolded by his mother before, but Naia doubted he had ever heard her voice go cold and threatening, as it was now. The scout imagined it would be quite frightening for the young pup. The Caverns wolves made their exit, and as soon as they departed Orren seemed to find his voice once more, asking all sorts of questions. Naia would leave them for his mother to answer, pretending not to notice the pointed glance that the boy threw over his shoulder to her. ”I can track them to the edge of the forest,” the scout offered quietly, knowing it would give her leader peace of mind to have a subordinate see the Caverns wolves off their territory. Now that the intruders were gone, Naia figured Kisla would have some choice words for her, though she knew not whether it would be praise or reprehension.

Kisla Baranski

The silver she-wolf did not seem to know how to take the brusque nature in which Kisla stood up for her subordinate -- this seemed to be highlighted when she turned and snarled out a barking order to her own pack member, stirring Kisla's lips to pull back and flash a warning growl to the she-wolf. Her stance tensed in front of her son, and watching quietly as the female gathered her 'offering' and left, her eyes followed them to the distance before they disappeared in the myriad of trees.

Orren drew her from her thoughts, and with a collective sigh, she gave her pelt a shake -- attempting to rid the tension that coiled in her muscles. her son would be able to sense it, and she hated that he had to witness any of that. He began to apologize, and gently, the she-wolf tilted her muzzle down to sweep her nose across the top of his head lovingly. "Hush, my darling," she whispered warmly, hoping to soothe him somehow. "Please do not go to the borders without an escort, okay?" The thought of Rissa clenched at her heart then, and the very idea of losing her own boy took the air from her lungs.

He questioned who they were, and she gave Naia a quick look, withholding a sigh as she once more preened at his ear now. "Wolves from a different pack. Whisper Caverns.. They are no friends of ours, and you will avoid them, okay?"

With that, she cast her eyes to Naia who spoke then, giving her muzzle a firm shake. "No -- not alone. Go see if you can find @Karpos or @Lachesis and scout the borders once more and make sure they've left." With that, she bent down once more, making to usher the boy back in the direction of the den. He would not be leaving her sight until he was back to the safety of their home.
