@Nicolò

The sleeping woman paw's twictched slightly, as if she was running from something. Or to something. Her breathing was harsh, as if she couldn't catch another breath. The Archer was having a nightmare, one she couldn't seem to wake up from. Subconciously, she knew it wasn't real. Nicolò was safe, in fact, sleeping right next to her. But her mind and heart were screaming two different things. In her nightmare, she was running, running to her brother. No matter how hard she ran, she just couldn't reach him. And that knowledge ripped her in two. Ever since they were children, she couldn't remember a moment where she wasn't with Nico. They had been inseparable. They still were, for Nico hadn't left his peaceful life in the Torbine for nothing. There connection was strong, a bond which she cherished deep in her soul. Her brother knew her darkest secrets, and her most ridiculous insecurities.

In her nightmare, she couldn't feel Nico. She couldn't feel that connection, the bond they so easily shared. She felt hollow, but the woman continued to run after her brother, even though she knew she in her nightmare she would never be able to reach him. The Archer woman whined softly in her sleep, her body twitching slightly. She was in distress. All Adele wanted was to wake up, for she knew Nicolò was right beside her, close as always. So why did she feel that hollowness creeping into her heart? Into her soul? "Brother..," Adele murmured in her sleep. "Nico!," she called out softly, desperate for him to hear her and come back.

The sandy eyed woman needed to wake up. This nightmare wasn't real.

Nicolò Archer

Their time in Willow Ridge had been peaceful thus far. There had been no reason for them to doubt that their sister's pack would be anything but calm and their transition into the pack had also been easy. Adele and Nicolò had no problem sticking together. It was what they had done a majority of their lifetime and it was no different now than it had been in the Torbine, it was just a different environmental setting. They even had their own mini den to rest in when they wished to, which was easy because their sleeping schedules were the same. So eventually, the siblings drifted off into a slumber...a dreamless one...for Nico at least.

His sister was not prone to nightmares and when they were, it generally had to do with him. The two Archers were not ones for love and if someone were to pursue them they would have to work damn hard for it. Most of their family was similar when it came to the aspect of love, at least from what Nico heard and had seen in the past. It was why he was surprised when he was awkwardly jarred slightly to consciousness by his sister, obviously distressed by something. Without thinking much of it, the black male started to drift back off. At least, until he heard his name frantically being shouted by his sister.

Immediately, the man jumped to his paws, ready to defend his sister from whatever danger she seemed to be in. But the only danger that seemed to be near was in her mind, something that the pale eyed man could not control. Huffing softly, he eyed filled within concern, he prodded his sister lightly, and then not so, trying to jar her awake and away from the awful demons that were lurking within her mind and causing her to have such an awful tumble in sleep. Sleep was suppose to be a peaceful meditation but right then for Adele, it had been anything but.

Adele couldn't seem to wake up from what was her nightmare. Why? Why couldn't she wake up?! Her breathing grew faster and her long limbs twitched as, in her nightmare, she ran after the quickly dwindling form of her brother. Nicolò didnt seem to hear her plea to come back, or was he just ignoring her? Could he truly not hear her? Lost in the depths of her nightmare, the woman just couldn't seem to pull herself out. That was, until Nico started to nudge her out of her sleep in an effort to wake her up. In her nightmare, it was like she felt a jolt. Then another, and another until the chocolate woman woke up with a start instinctively sidled even closer to her brother before her mind could register the fact that she was no longer trapped in her nightmare.

She shook slightly, trying to regain her bearings. Her muzzle found the familiar crook of his shoulder and she nestled herself in it, reminding her of when they had been children. She hadn't been prone to nightmares even than, but Nico was always there with a shoulder to rest on and his familiar comforting presence. Archers weren't one for public displays of affection, but this was Nicolò. Her dearest brother and friend. In the dark coat of night, alone in their mini den, the siblings felt no need to hide their fondness for one another. Glad to be out of that horrible dream, the woman could only murmur one word, "Brother.." She trailed off, drinking in the comfort she knew he would always provide.

After several more attempts to arouse his sister from her stupor, it finally seemed to work. In an effort to comfort his sister, Nico curled his head around her neck protectively, ensuring that she felt safe and secure with him. As pups, Adele had never been prone to such nightmares, so it concerned the man that now that they were settled down and with their family, that they would become less frequent. It seemed, to him, that they only seemed to be getting worse. If, perhaps, they had been out in public, Nicolò might not have comforted her so physically, especially in front of another who wasn't an Archer. Their pride was too consuming. However, since they were alone and he knew that his sister needed him, he would do anything in his power to keep her happy and let her know how much he cared for her.

Pulling away so that he could look into her familiar pale eyes, trying to find any sign of happiness in them before posing the question that would hopefully put her mind at ease. "Do you want to talk about it, Ade?" he questioned her easily, knowing that he had no need to feel uncomfortable posing the question to them. They were, after all, two of the closest siblings that had been in the Torbine and were in the lore. Nothing had ever been able to separate them, and they would probably never change. Despite his longing to settle down and find a mate, he knew that would be a long way down the track they were on. For such a woman would have to win the utmost approval of his beloved sister. And that was the only way he would get what he wanted.

Her heart calmed and her form relaxed in her brother's comforting embrace. She was glad they held their own mini den of sorts. If this had happened in the communal den...Adele shuddered at the idea of it. How embarrassing. She relaxed in her brother's embrace once again and waited for the question that she knew would come. He knew when she craved silence and when she needed to talk. Maybe she needed to talk this one out. The gods knew, Nico knew her better than she knew herself sometimes. He pulled away after a few moments and Adele found herself looking into a pair of familiar pale yellow orbs. She sighed and shook her head in slight frustration as she opened her maw. "It was stupid, brother. I was running, chasing after you, in fact. But...you couldn't seem to hear me. It was like you were ignoring me. It was like you were running from me." Her tone showed the disbelief she felt along with the frustration. Sure, they had gotten annoyed and angry at each other over the years, but those circumstances were rare. And they had never separated for long. One of them would always apologize. Never would Nico willingly run from her like he had in the dream. He was willingly leaving her and because of the feelings in the dream, she could only assume for good.

"You were leaving me for good, Nicolò," she said voicing her thoughts aloud. Silence consumed them as she let the words hang in the air. They were not codependent of each other, as so many assumed. They just held a bond that no one really understood. It was stupid of her to question it because of a nightmare. They were too important to each other.

For a long time now though, she knew of Nico's wish to settle down and find a mate of his own. She herself felt none of that, for she was utterly content just being by her brother's side. Though it was clear that Nico adored children and had wanted a family of his own. But weren't they happy in Willow Ridge? Wasn't this enough? She turned from her brother than, knowing he would be able to read her train of thought. Who was she kidding? This nightmare had been a recurring one, though each time it was a different scenario but the ending was still the same. At first she had brushed it off. But now it was coming more and more frequently, now that they had settled into familial pack lands. This nightmare had shaken her and Nico would no doubt be able to see that. She hated this feeling.

The brother waited silently, seeing if his sister would offer him some insight as to what was going on with her. He didn't dare say anything else though, knowing that she was need some time to collect her thoughts even though it was obvious that something was bothering her. It didn't take her long to respond to him and he remained silent, listening to her tale in silence. His eyebrows narrowed in concern, wanting to know how he would be able to comfort her. As he continued to listen, he found the only way that he would be able to comfort her was through his words, which were something that he had never lacked in. As a story teller, his words came easily, and they flowed effortlessly from his lips.

Clearing his throat, he spoke calmly, "Well, there is no need to worry. Wherever you go, I'll go too, as long as you allow it of me." He moved closer to her, nudging her affectionately on the shoulder. While the Archers were not emotionally attached individuals, together they always seemed to increase the dynamics. His tail wagged behind him easily and a comforting smile was displayed on his lips. Never did he want her to worry over such trivial matters when there was no reason to fear anything. The only thing that would ever truly separate them was death or her telling him to leave her. Certainly, even though he wanted to settle down, she knew that he would always be with her. Family was always first and that meant her.

His words, so easily and confidently said, soothed her idle worries. Nico had always had a way with words. That was probably why he was such a gifted story teller. She smiled at his affectionate touch, her tail wagging all on its own. It had only been a nightmare. She would always want Nicolò by her side. Their bond was one that most siblings craved to have, and Adele knew the gift that had been bestowed upon them. She greatly cherished her brother and he knew she didnt have to say it for him to know. The Archer woman grinned at her sibling, then proceeded to lay down and rest her head on her paws. The excitement of the night was getting to her and Adele found herself feeling sleepy.

She nestled into the warmth of her brothers side, urging him to lay beside her as well. She yawned, sleep calling to her, tempting her to fall into its dark embrace. But she withheld the temptation. At least, for now. "Tell me brother, a story," she mumbled in her soft alto, knowing he would be able to hear her. How she loved his stories. Whether truth or fiction, he could spin his words in such a way that Adele was always left entertained and once again, awed at her brother's gift. Most of the time her brothers silent comfort was enough after these nightmares. She needed nothing else than his presence for reassurance and peaceful slumber. At other times, she needed just a little more. One of his stories would help to continue to calm her, not to mention entertain her. They would both be able to sleep peacefully the rest of the night. Her chocolate tail wagged lightly, as she waited for her brother's response, eager for what was next.

He had succeeded in doing everything in his power to alleviate his sister’s ill. Never did he wish for her to be in distress. It just so happened that whenever she was not well, he would follow along in suite, it probably had something to do with the fact that they were with the other at all times. Thankfully, due to their closeness, Nicolò had easily quieted her worries, she knew that he would never abandon her, even if he was not by choice. Her next request came as no shock to him. Whenever she had a nightmare, though not often, she always wanted to hear one of his many stories. He chuckled light-heartedly, glad that he would be able to take her mind off what had plagued her and give her more pleasant things to dream of.

An almost far-off look entered Nico’s pale eyes as he looked into the darkness, his mind taking him to a completely different place. Clearing his throat, his voice took on a mystical tone, picking a genre that his sister preferred, "Once there was a princess of Heminch Pack. She had a coat as golden as the sun’s rays that radiated brightly even on the darkest of nights. As a lady of high standing, her parents expected the most of her, expecting her to exceed all of her pack mates and be with a wolf of high standing. However, another man had taken her fancy, and captured her heart in the purest of ways." He paused then, to add effect to the story, his yellow pale eyes continuing to stare off into the darkness.

"He was a loner, a wolf that even the princess should have never allowed court her," he continued, his voice a whisper, as if teasing, "but there was something different about this man. In contrast, the lovers were complete opposites of countenance but had found kindred spirits in one another, always wanting and hoping for more." He stopped again, a small smile painted on the dark man’s lips, "One night, time seemed to stop for the forbidden love. The man appeared on the edge of pack lands one fortnight and spoke with the princess’ parents. If the man proved himself worthy, by the parents’ standards, then he would be able to keep their daughter. The man had to prove that he was the strongest, most tolerant, pure hearted of knights. The alphas made their strongest Guardian fight the man, and through his wit, succeeded. He also proved that he was tolerant of temper as the pack verbally degraded him, and finally proved that he was of true heart for the princess. The parents, realizing this, gave the couple their blessing, and the two lived on for a many other years together. Bound in the purest of ways, their souls."

A warmth spread within the woman as she noticed Nico's pale golden gaze hold that look that said he was not here any longer, but in his mind, deep within the stories he never ceased to create. A soft smile graced her muzzle and the huntress patiently waited for his voice to spin a tale she knew would leave her enthralled as always. As he began his tale, her sandy gaze twinkled in amusement. Only her brother knew the Archer woman's carefully gaurded secret. Romance tales and happy endings were her guilty pleasures and Nicolò never failed to deliver when he spun her one of his tales. Shutting her eyes, the she wolf let the words wash over her and she let her imagination take over as she easily immersed herself in her brother's words. When he wrapped up the story, Adele didn't say anything for a few moments.

Then, she opened her eyes and the huntress turned her attention towards her brother. Smiling, she nudged his shoulder with her muzzle in a quiet thank you. "Enthralling as ever, brother," she murmured.   Laying her head down onto the ground, her tail wrapped around her form. Sleep was quickly coming to her now, and thanks to her sibling, it would be a peaceful one. As her breathing slowed and she sinked deeper into the realm of sleep, Adele could only think of how ridiculous she had been earlier. They were fine. After all, their bond as siblings was stronger than most, and though there were brief moments of discord and doubt, their bond could truly not be questioned.
