It felt like Florence was walking on air as he and @Vera walked back to the den they had been sharing since arriving, even if they had been missing each other lately and getting up and going to sleep at different times.

It had always been their den but now it was going to be their den. A call had gone out to @Minka and @Tokino to discuss further their intentions and for them to meet the pair there. It would not do to become mates within the pack without discussing it with the leaders. Whether both would come was something Florence had considered, as he had barely seen either leader lately but he chalked it up to them being very busy with their duties.

Florence looked down to Vera when they arrived, a large grin making its way onto his face as he regarded the one who agreed to be his mate. He never imagined that one day, he would have someone to call his own or for someone to want to be with him. Before meeting Vera, he thought himself too awkward, too shy to be appealing to anyone. But Vera brought out a new side of him. The one who wanted to talk, to explore places and to investigate things that were outside of herbs. She coaxed out a side of him that was more outgoing yet still accepted him for who he was and what he wanted to be.

And she wanted to be with him and he wanted to be with no one else for the rest of his life. He just hoped that their leaders would understand.

The Diminutive Ivory She-wolf slipped underneath her larger companion’s underside, the tip of her tail, which was raised up in the air like a banner out of joy, brushed gently along the fluffy furred skin of his stomach playfully, before she trotted bouncily along his side as they made their way back to their den. Now it wouldn’t be just two friends sharing a den together, but a pair of lovers. That was the reason Florence had called for Queen Minka and King Tokino, so they could announce and discuss the new relationship between her and her larger companion to their leaders. Mates.

Florence hadn’t felt at ease after he asked her to be his mate, as he was unsure if the pack leaders would congratulate them or kick them out. Vera, however, did not have a care in the world. She was as high as the clouds, and nothing could bring her crashing down to the ground. “They should accept this, Florence, we’re not doing anything wrong. In fact, we are playing by the rules.” Following pack laws was something the Diminutive Ivory She-wolf found hard, especially when it went again her own whims goals. But she tried to follow them, for Florence.

He was always the one that kept her in line and stopped her from doing things she would regret later in life, as well as providing the only source of companionship she had ever had. But she also had an effect on him, one that she had taken a long time to realize. He became more open and out there when they were together, instead of his usual shy and awkward self. They brought the best out of each other, without even knowing it. “I love you,” she whispered softly to him as she stood between his front legs, waiting for the leaders to arrive.

Tokino was on his daily rounds checking out the borders and watching for stray coyotes. The only scents he came upon were his pack mates and a lone fox yearling which had quickly turned around when it came across the wolf pack's border. Tokino didn't go after the young creature because he approved of its wise decision to head away from their territory. The older wolf wouldn't bother a fox as long as it stayed away from his family.

It was as the Lagina man was heading back to the den that he heard his name sung on the wind. The call came from the familiar tenor of Florence and to the howl Tokino lifts his head and answers back. Coming His own howl floated over the blackberry bushes of the Downs pack's territory. Tokino shifts turning his body towards the call and lifts his giant paws to head towards Florence. His eyes held vivid concern mixed with curiosity. Tokino usually wasn't called unless there was a hunt going on, somebody was hurt, or there was some other kind of danger happening. He was rarely called for simply meeting somebody in order to talk to them. Even if the contents of the conversation were rather important.

The wiry silver male dodged prickly bushes and took a well known route to the pair of wolves waiting for him to arrive. As Kino approached them the gray wolf slows to a walk then stops a respectable distance from them despite being pack mates. They were still the newest members within Minka and Tokino's ranks so the elder wolf wasn't too touchy feely friendly with them like he was with Inali, Minka, and his children.

Greetings Florence... Vera. What is the problem? He greets the pair with a quick nod to each before asking the short clipped question. Tokino would probably be hunting after he dealt with whatever was going on here.

"And I you," Florence rumbled to Vera fondly as she settled between his legs, in a position that they both were familiar with. Smiling down at her, Florence curled his head towards her, touched her cheek with his nose in a loving touch. "and I know we are. It does not mean this is any less nerve wracking, my dear."

Yet as Tokino arrived Florence bowed his head in greeting to the leader, a smile smile working its way onto his maw. There was no true problem, just happy news to be passed on and hopefully well received. If the news was rejected and the fact he and Vera were not allowed to be mates then..He was not sure as to what would happen. But he knew that the truth would help and that they were indeed following the rules.

"It is not a problem as such. We merely wanted to say that Vera and I wish to become mates under your rule and ask for your blessing, if you will give it." He explained as politely as possible, which was not hard for the dark male. It was who he was and nothing was going to change that anytime soon. Yet he felt the heat just under his skin from embarrassment as he considered his next words. But they had to be said, to avoid any confusion and trouble between them and their leaders. "No pups shall come from our...coupling, as neither of us feel ready for such responsibility just yet."

And so, with Vera pressed up to his legs, the pair would wait for Tokino's verdict.

Vera pricked her ears at Tokino's answering howl, saying that he was coming. He sounded close by, and she hoped that they wouldn't have to wait too long. Though outwardly she seemed calm, inside she was filled with nerves. Would they accept Florence and hers relationship? Hopefully. She leaned into her larger companion's leg when he rumbled back that he loved her too, breathing in his scent, her own rumbling purr coming from her chest. Only he could elicit such reactions and responses from her, and him alone. Tokino soon arrived and she also bowed her head in greeting, averting her caramel brown gaze from his face. She wanted the least amount of tension during this interaction, and she wanted it to be quickly over so she didn't have a panic attack.

A slight curve of her mouth was the only response the Diminutive Ivory She-wolf gave when King Tokino asked what the problem was. They didn't exactly have a problem, it was more of a request for their mate ship to be formalized within the pack and have him and Queen Minka known about it, especially as it was one of the pack laws, and they must always be upheld. Vera stayed quiet, letting her larger companion speak for them. It wasn't that she was shy, no, he just had a better way of words than her, and spoke them more politely than she'd ever be able to. A blush spread across her face, heating her neck, as he spoke about them making sure they wouldn't have any pups, and she briefly buried her face in his leg fur, not wanting to look at either him or King Tokino. It was only after a few moments that she drew her face away and looked back at Tokino, waiting for the words that would soon fall from his maw.

Tokino gave them a small grin as greetings were exchanged, and to be honest he was glad to hear that there was no real problem. Tokino didn't like bad news because it often would give him a head ache thinking about it afterward. However, the news that was given allowed Tokino's tail to wag some in shared happiness for the young couple. He smiled wide his icy blue eyes flashing in friendliness as Florence delivered the news that he and Vera were now mates.

Congratulations my friends. I hope you two have many good years ahead of you. He offered them this comment with an approving nod towards the pair. A small chuckle escaped his maw when Vera hid her face from view at the mention of not having pups. Tokino expected that rule to be followed, but to have Florence reiterate their plans on not having children made him trust the pair even more. Stepping forward he gave Vera a lick on her shoulder then gave Florence a haughty but friendly headbutt showing his pleasure at seeing them so close. Then the male backed off with his tail still wagging happily. I will only warn ya this once though. You may want to avoid her completely when spring comes, cause the urge will be high. Either me or Minka will be watching you guys just in case though. We don't want more pups to take care of than the pack can handle is all. So I apologize before paw if I get rough or annoyed with you during the season. His friendly voice gave the gentle warning quickly before Tokino's glances back towards the meadow. He wasn't sure how Minka would handle the news, but he hoped she wouldn't be too hard on them. It was a gift, to be able to find the one you truly belonged with, and he certainly wasn't going to be the one to give them concerns about being together. Not when he was so lucky to be with Minka today.
