Down the unknown mountain side the yearling wandered with grinding teeth. The growth of strange faces made the tawny wolfless severely miserable, and angry. Did they need so many others? Takis, Celandine, and Evy would soon be a year themselves. Hyp wasn't useless. Couldn't Phineas see that? With Aesire's recent rise to lead she felt even more bitter. Hyp preferred the spot empty. No one had the right to stand beside her father. The image caused knots to twist in her shoulders, and she took a snap out the empty air in disdain. If only there was a real target to unleash her pent up frustration.
She realized it wasn't about replacing her mother, but the idea left a bad taste in her mouth. She had not wanted to pay witness to the females battling it out. To stand by why she couldn't participate, those strange woman fighting for high line of rank they didn't deserve. A twist of her tail, she continued to trek further away, wanting many miles between them.
She was greatly in need of an escape, but she began to wonder if she would actually find one. Sooner or later she would have to return, and she wasn't sure how long she could play a submissive part of a pack. With a sigh, she shook her head, and sniffed at the lone trail of a rabbit. Food didn't sound appealing. It was the trickle of water that caught her by the ear, because it was so faint. Curious she began searching the rocks, until she could more clearly see a dark patch of water. Closer inspection, it seemed to run down the mountain. She could only see one small icy waterfall, not yet to the grandest of them all. The further she walked, drawn to it, with a spark of fascination to her silver mask.
