Kite Tainn
SW, a Lynx has intruuuuded~ Kite has just returned from her scouting trip :')

Tired was an understatement. Kite had taken her time, but had still wanted to come home as quickly as she could. The Tainn had tested herself this trip... but, the only thought on her mind was of the Woodlands. She knew Nina was capable in her right mind... but was the woman in her right mind, fully? Kite hated to leave things to chance and so took it upon herself to return home with plenty of haste...

And perhaps it was a good thing. There was a strange stink on their borders, different from the sort the Blackthorn wolf had left... and far, far more dangerous. Kite could handle an intruding wolf on her own... but a full-grown lynx was another story. Kite was fine in her current state, so she believed. But stress was never a good thing. And here, here she smelled a great source of it. The woman threw her head back and howled to alert the Woodlands of its presence, and now, the lynx was privy to the knowledge that the pack knew.

Kite felt a savage need to bring an end to the beast that had threatened their livelihood. For the existence of this beast meant a threat to her childrens future. Any who posed such a thing would be disposed of swiftly, and Kite moved to seek the creature lurking in their lands with the motive to kill.

Mirren Tainn

He was not easily shaken, but he'd been on the edge for days. Letting her go in her current state hadn't been easy, and in fact he'd had it in mind to make the trip himself if only to keep her within the relative safety of their borders. Kite was a seasoned traveler and scout, but now she was a mother, too. On top of the worry over their dwindled numbers, the impending war with the Reiners, the trouble left on their doorstep by the unidentified Black Thorn wolf, and Nina's health, and Pacem's, and Aideen's, Kite's most recent task had taken her and his future children far from home and left him riddled with apprehension.

Slinking through the shadowed, wooded hills that comprised this particular fringe of the territory, Mirren's concerns were only compounded as the familiar stink of something sinister and feline permeated the air. Lynx. And not just one, either. For upward of an hour he'd silently tracked the trail the cats had left for them, and perhaps he'd made some progress in narrowing down their location when her song stopped him dead in his tracks. Kite was home, and the message in her voice conveyed that she had picked up the scent as well, which meant that she was much too close to the potential danger.

He tore through the forest with a swiftness only a Woodlands wolf could harbor, his paws carrying him over the mossy, root-laden trails the pack had long since forged. His golden eyes found the form of his mate among the foliage in short order and he closed the distance between them with ease. Given the current circumstance her scent alone riled the fierceness in him, but couple it with the scent of her pregnancy and Mirren Tainn became a monster of a man. "Kite─ " he breathed, showering her in his love and a proper greeting for about a tenth of a second before, "─What the hell are you doing?" Sure, there were nicer, more endearing things he could have said, but she might as well have put herself on a silver platter. He looked her over to ensure she'd returned in one piece, eyeing her swollen belly. "You can't be here─" Of the things he loved about her, her predatory prowess and inclination to bring her babies to a cat hunt were among them, but that didn't mean he would tolerate her putting herself in danger. Lifting his muzzle, he called for @Miccah and @Hudson.

He had been at the borders when he caught the scent of vermin among them. The stench stung his senses, and the man growled softly as he followed the trail the lynx had left. The guardian was dissapointed that he hadn't caught the creature before it had slipped into Woodland lands, but he wouldn't further dwell in his mistake. The scent grew stronger, and Miccah hurried his pace as he manuevered through the thickets he had long guarded and memorized, his steps as silent as a ghost. A howl came, from Mirren's mate. It seemed the lynx had caught someone else's attention and the black beast pushed himself to move faster before any damage could truly occur. Seconds before he reached Kite, another howl ripped through the skies. He recognized it as his alpha's, calling for the guardian and the new subordinate he had seen around the borders. At least, he assumed that was Hudson. He slowed his furious pace as he reached the couple, bowing his head to Mirren and nodding to Kite as he came to a smooth stop before them. He was surprised to see her there, for she was with child, and he hoped that she wouldn't join in the attack. She could not only hurt herself, but her unborn children.

His eyes roved across the dense thickets, his muzzle catching the strong scent of the lynx that was still very noticeable. A silent snarl appeared across his maw and his attentive blue orbs roamed across the thickets once more before his muzzle smoothed over as his gaze latched onto Mirren, waiting for his lead.

Hudson Sawyer

Since he'd first come to the rolling tide of thicket and gorse, the white statue of a wolf had grown to manage easily in the hollow tunnels of beaten pathway and consuming foliage. He was built to roam, and that inner desire to devour a landscape proved to lead him astray. Hudson found himself picking at new pathways in the dense wood, scouring the boundary line like some kind of nomadic guard dog. But today he found himself wandering right back into the  warm outstretched arms of home, right back into what felt like civilization.

But something stirred here eerily in the loose ends of breeze. The dense musk of feline odor wafted into his nose which crinkled up in a deep snarl. Lynx, he thought, remembering back to the vast expanse of his alpine birthplace where they were the casual nuisance around the den sites. Huck gathered himself and quietly moved his rose brown eyes through the heavy wood. He couldn't really see much further than a few wolf-lengths ahead in the thicket of bracken, but mid-thought he heard the sharp howl cut through the Woodlands. Like a white bullet, Hudson left no trace of himself where he smelled the lynx, ricocheting like wildfire to that authorial voice. He already knew Mirren beckoned his presence from the depths of the forest, and he'd be there even if the intruder readily sought the tender underside of his neck.

When he arrived he was minutely surprised to see Kite lingering near her mate, bloated with pups, futile in the midst of danger. He wanted to ask why she was here, if she was hurt. His train of thought worked up a threatening memory, but Huck swallowed it like a fist in his throat, focusing on the duty at hand. There weren't any fanged cats here... At least not yet. Already bristling, the white wolf positioned himself regally beside Miccah, not to overstep his authority, but to claim his determination. If something went wrong here, Hudson would be sure to stand up and draw his sword. But for now his vibrant gaze turned to Mirren's amber heat, yearning to reciprocate.

Skipping Kite to keep this going!

His call was quickly answered by Miccah and Hudson, each materializing from the depths of the Thicket on high alert. He still couldn't believe that Kite was out here like this and as happy as he was to see her pretty face, she had to get out of here. Now. "Miccah, escort Kite to the safety of the pack den. See to it that she is fed and keep an eye on her until I return." By no means did he like dictating what Kite could and couldn't do, or having her guarded like a prisoner or child, but what she needed was to fill her belly and rest and that was that. The look he shot her was one only of concern and love and his attention was returned to the ivory-furred fellow beside his sable second. "You─ let's go."

Finding the trespassing lynx was easy enough as its scent was strewn across the territory without regard for the pack's own markings. From a distance he watched the cat with narrowed eyes as it departed its stoop on an old oak's thick branch. From behind the cover of the thicket's dense foliage, Mirren cast a sidelong gaze to Hudson. Ready. Everything about his posture was predatory as the masked Tainn stalked forward with every intention of ridding his home of the uninvited guest, one way or another.
