22 October - Early Morning - Moderate Snow

Like most nights since Spring came upon them, Morganna had chosen to sleep in the open, sheltered between the roots of a Willow, a shallow bowl hollowed out with her own paws in clear sight of the main den. Her eyes cracked open with the first light, blurry sleep filled eyes squinting and crossing to focus on the end of her pale, cold muzzle. For a moment she worried that perhaps the dark had fled her coat in the night, to leave her wearing a similar cloak to her younger sister Ravenna, but the steam that escaped her jaws with a huff and a yawn reminded her Autumn was quickly fading from the land and soon they would be limited to a few short hours of sunlight to chase the chill from there bones before the long night commenced.

As the Starks of Winterfell may proclaim Winter was coming, and as joyous an occasion as her siblings first snowfall might prove to be it only served to reinforce that while her mother was injured it was her duty to get the pack through the coming months and there was no time to waste lazing about watching teenagers taste their first snowflake or slip on hidden leaves. She would leave that to the ageing parents, a memory for them to treasure. It wasn’t her place.

Their scents would be dampened about the borders, caches would be buried beyond recovery, streams would freeze over. There was no time to waste loitering.

Morganna Archer stood and shook the snow from her thick winter pelt, a small chuff at the den entrance to warn Elettra and Angier there was something new for the children to discover before she grabbed her keys and raced out the door to the office.

The easiest way to make sure anything got done was to do it herself.

Yay, Sven's first snow!

SVEN ARCHER
& the night is closing in

As Sven dug his way out of his den, he opened his ghostly eyes to a world could not be real. For a moment blanketed in utter silence, he simply stared, taking it all in with equal measures of awe and horror. The white cold dominated the landscape, clinging to everything and taking away its colors, its smells, its individuality and identity. He had to wonder if perhaps the ground had howled again, and this time covered the entire land with its glittering silt.

Tentatively he took a step forward, the ice crystals immediately melting beneath his leathery paw pads. Was it... water? But how? The phenomenon was too recondite for his inexperienced mind to wrap around, lack of knowledge erecting barricades, and what confused him left him feeling fearful. It was something he did not want to show much less admit, and still he could not help but call out, hoping dearly that an adult was nearby to explain to him that his world was not ending.

"Hello?" he called out as he trudged forth, revealing the yellow grass in his wake. It fell from the sky lazily, akin to rain, and it began to solidify in his mind that this was indeed water through and through, but why was it so different? "Is uh... anyone around?" The hell was going on?

Is uh... anyone around? a slow smirk crossed the young leaders face as she picked her way swiftly towards her nephew. she saw the trail of dying grass in his wake, a clear trail left in the softly falling snow. "O'course." she spoke quietly as she quietly padded behind him. "I was jus-on m' way ter the borders, care ter join me?" she asked, not expecting him to take her up on the offer with so much newness to explore.

Her previous encounter with Piety still weighed heavily on her heart. Although her talk with Angier had alleviated much of her guilt the fact remained the woman was the mother of this boy, and he was still looking for her. She couldn't very well tell the boy stop looking for her, I ripped off her ear. but perhaps there was a gentler way to dissuade the boy from seeking her out. "How'er yer finding the snow?" she decided to question instead. "This lot'll be gone by the time the sun is high but more will come until it blankets the ground too thickly ter melt away. Yer'll have ter watch fer ice, it's real slippery."

It was his aunt who heeded his outreach, and Sven couldn't be happier with such results. Still, the atmosphere created by the voiding snow rendered him milquetoast, and her voice suddenly behind him raised the fur along his spine as he flinched with surprise. His neck twisted as his head spun around, pale eyes wide only for a split second before a brief smile slid over his lips. It was clear that he was happy to see her, and he nodded vigorously to answer her question. Of course he wanted to join her. But as he turned himself around to face her, his consternation returned, and such was evident upon his knitted features.

"Is that what this shits called?" he muttered darkly. Cusses were becoming a more frequent occurrence with the boy, given the time he spent with @Hecate and his own transitioning age, as he'd yet learned to be a gentleman.

"I don't know, it... makes everything murky," the heir then admitted, glancing about him. So much white also reminded him of Piety, but then, everything seemed to remind of her. Still. Rolling his shoulders back in some semblance of a shrug, Sven turned and took a few steps forward, eager to begin their patrolling.
