Moraxia Cipris
OOC: @Gent I'm excited to post with you c: Should be interesting! (Sorry if it takes me a bit to reply, doing these after work each day.) Backdated to 8/11, Sunny Weather 75 ° F.

On her way inside of the territory where Moraxia would find her new home among these kind wolves, @Raela had described to her some of the ways of the pack. She had explained that the alpha male Gent had decided to issue defense training to all members to assure everyone’s safety. The pack was very well constructed in Moraxia’s eyes; the wolves were able to lean on one another without worry, and she had concluded all to be quite trustworthy from the wolf’s description. She was feeling strong in her decision to join as she made her way slowly throughout the territory, exploring the wilderness she would have to be getting used to in the near future. Her clumsy feet padded softer now through the land, surveying all that was around her. She knew she was to meet Gent before dusk, as he as instructed, so she stopped to inspect the sun every once in a while in her travels. Deciding to meet him in the early-afternoon, she trotted up the large mountain-like hill closer to the den.

Stopping not far off from the den, the wolf allowed a respectable distance to account for privacy, if that’s where the alphas happened to be; she didn’t want to overstep her boundaries on her already generous acceptance so soon. Planting her feet firmly on the ground, she stood tall and casually leaned her head back, letting out a low, soft howl. There was no reason to bellow throughout the woods like her first time now that she was aware Gent was around. Moraxia waited quietly after her howl, admiring the birds above her as they chirped and sprung from branch to branch. Her coat glistened and shined underneath the patches of branches above her that allowed small bits of sunlight to escape through, highlighting the amber wolf’s earthly brown eyes as they searched the forest with wonder, getting lost in the silence of nature.

Her new home was absolutely stunning.

The breathing tank of a woman had been at the back of his mind all day long. It mattered to track her whereabouts via passing scents, to note just how long it took her to come to him as well as what she was doing in that time during which she was on her own. There were certain peculiarities about this one that had him curious, eager to find out exactly how she could fit within the mechanisms of his pack and bolster their community. Clearly, he anticipated her skills in guardianship, but what else about her made her suitable to such a vital role? If her loyalty proved strong, how much farther would she climb, both in rank and her leaders' esteem?

She hadn't kept him waiting too long, a pleasurable thing to take notice of as her strong voice funneled into his ears. Fluidly changing course, he swung his monstrous frame around and powered his way back up the mild incline of his mountainous kingdom. Despite his anticipation of what might come, he did not rush his strides. Rather, it was an easy lope that brought him to the woman, allowing her time to wait and gather all of herself for this second interview.

As she came into view, his pale eyes scanned her repeatedly, drinking in every detail. Through his observations, he unraveled one of the previously unnamable interests he'd felt in regards to the other woman: he wanted to fight her.

"How are you settling in?"

The familiar scent of the alpha male drifted into her nostrils as his large, dark body approached where she was standing. She had appreciated how quickly he had answered her call with his mysterious presence and noted his politeness; not too long of a wait but not immediate satisfaction either. Turning to face Gent, the amber wolf offered a soft smile to the male who had remained mostly a stranger up until now. The woman felt relatively comfortable in his presence and refused to let any hesitation show on her face despite his large stature and intimidating looks.

She could feel his pupils scanning her as she returned the favor by doing just the same, her vision coming to stop on his lovely blue eyes. Moraxia’s ears flicked forward as she listened to his low, daunting tone that sent a chill through her body. ‘He definitely has the ability to demand immediate attention wherever he goes, whether he means to or not…’ she thought, forcing her face to remain a gentle grin.

“Alright so far, thank you. I’m hoping I can get to know everyone a little bit better as time goes on.” The canine spoke quietly, looking directly into his eyes as she did. Her mind pawed at words as a small bit of timed passed; there were so many things she wanted to ask this black wolf but the timing seemed inappropriate, so perhaps she should start with the basics. “It’s quite a nice afternoon, don’t you think? -- and I’m so very excited for whatever you have in store for me today!” Moraxia’s tail tenderly swayed from side to side. She knew she’d have to make the very best impression she could if she wanted to impress her new leader and she couldn’t think of a better way to hit it off than some training. It would give her a solid chance to possibly get to know him.

Through his observations, several flags raised within his mind, but most striking of all was that while his eyes roved, so did hers. Upon realizing this, his gaze settled, locking onto her chocolate optics with a stony solemnity. The woman did not look away, and something deep within him began to grow restless. His ears tilted forward to take in her answer, but his mind only passively listened to the words she issued. In his experience, what she said and what she did were not cohesive. Who had taught her to hold herself with such brass, yet forgot to train her not to speak so softly?

She was tittering with pleasantries, and his only response was a wry smirk that curved his lips, like a cobra coiling before its strike. Silence fell between them as Moraxia finished, and he relished it, allowing it to grow long and finding himself hoping that it unnerved her. Behind him his tail flicked on sporadic occasions, a restive habit that was the only indication for one to clue in on the energy building within him. The king breathed deeply through his nares, assessing just how alone they truly were. The pack den was vacant, the children exploring and the adults minding their responsibilities. It would be long before, in shifts, wolves returned to the small mountain's crest. It was all that was needed to make up his mind, though it couldn't be said that he was truly thinking about what was happening within him at all. No, at this moment, the monarch allowed his instincts to take full control.

Without warning, the leviathan launched himself forward, fangs flashing and forelimbs outstretched. Immediately the space that had been between them was eradicated by his momentum, and he struck out to box her down with his legs. Whether she would submit or accept the challenge was very much at the height of his interest, and the king truly hoped she would not spoil his fun.

Alarming was the stare he gave her; so full of himself and seemingly so confident in his ways. It made Moraxia’s blood boil and her skin crawl. Her face turned from friendly to agitated in a matter of seconds, her body language following suit. The female’s tail stiffened out behind her and the rest of her body tensed. Slowly, she hesitantly took a step backwards as the silence grew longer and longer between the two. The man standing before her was certainly not the same she’d met earlier, excluding the mysterious attitude. She feared him now—the way his eyes were so unmoving as if he was planning her demise right then and there. The woman’s ears pointed away from the man as she prominently took another step back to regain a more comfortable distance from the wolf, eyes locked directly on his chest muscles as his breathing grew deep and heavy.

Suddenly, he was leaping towards her with outstretched legs and powerful paws directly reaching for her neck. In an instant, she tensed her muscles and lowered her body to the ground in an attempt to allow herself a few more moments to assess the male’s attack. As swift as her powerful legs could launch her, she darted to the side, panting heavily in a desperate endeavor to escape his attack. His legs just barely missed her shoulders as she dashed to the left side of him. Her breathing escalated, mind frantically searching for the words to say to this beast throwing himself at her as his body thundered down next to her. ‘So much for a friendly greeting.’ The alpha female’s gingerly temper certainly differed from the males'.

Creating some distance between the two by hurriedly backing a safe distance away before spinning to face him, she again lowered her large frame closer to the floor. His eyes were so fiery when he had charged at her—surely, this was the defensive training Raela had spoken of…right? Was she meant to attack him with everything she had, or to let him do the attacking?

With a shake of her fur, she repositioned herself to appear larger: broadening her shoulders, puffing out her chest, widening her stance, and raising her tail. ‘If he wants a fight, I’ll just have to give him one,” she thought, a grin crossing her face now and a snarl emanating from her maw. Moraxia secretly loved to fight, and though she wasn’t very experienced, she could survive a good roughhousing session and even possibly come out on top. What a triumph it would be to beat the Alpha—

Shoving the thoughts from her mind, she dug her heels deep into the dirt and waited for Gent to, again, throw himself at her. Unaware of this male’s fighting capability, Moraxia thought it best to wait it out and observe his fighting style before she got too involved.

She moved surprisingly fast for her massive size, and Gent found his well-aimed strike catching nothing but the air. The king could have twisted to snap and bat after her still, to pursue his opponent, but instead as his paws claimed solid ground once more no sudden movements arose from him. His eyes were perhaps the quickest of his being to shift, following after her dappled frame in order to anticipate any retaliation she might meet him with. When it was registered that she would make no such move, he turned himself slowly to face her once more with a predator's stride.

Once more, a stretch of silent stillness passed between them as the great beast measured her over with his pale optics for the hundredth time. What was it about this woman that had him feeling so... feral? Was it simply her mass? Was it the polite, challenging contradiction she put forth? He couldn't know, and for once since signing up with Minka and her pack family, Gent didn't care to try and pick it apart. He only wanted to act upon it.

She was bracing herself, clearly waiting for his next move before delivering her own, and it left him wanting. At least she hadn't cowered, outraged or fearful of his physical outburst. She also hadn't taken the opposing extreme, sinking her teeth into him nor asserting a self-perceived dominance. Though that tail of hers would be tucked against her stomach by the time they were through, he had determined that much within his head.

Finally, he moved. Once more he struck head-on, but this time his jaws were parted wide, ready to latch onto any stretch of relatively loose skin that they could find. The man would not break through her flesh, for it wasn't violence that enticed him in this match. However, he would try to secure a hold on her so as to be able to better manipulate her physically.

His eyes were intense as they stared at her. The wolf acted so confident and sure in his ability to defeat the woman she hardly had any time to consider her moves. His chaotic grace in the way he accepted a miss only to turn around to face his target again was hypnotic. She could sense the predator thinking, watching, monitoring her as another short bit of time passed between them. This man was making her blood boil, and she liked it. Something about facing a worthy challenger both in size and skill gave Moraxia a burst of courage to succeed. He could have just as easily attacked her as she dodged away in her panic, but he had chosen not to; the red-backed wolf was positive this was now a test and that danger was nowhere to be found inside his sky-blue eyes.

She braced herself again as Gent raced toward her, an instinctive snarl erupting from her cautiously parted mouth. Her body stood ready and defiant, tail high behind her. He leapt at her with intense force, and again the wolf attempted to dodge his oncoming attack by darting out of the way. Her attempt failing, the alpha’s teeth clamped down on the back of her neck, catching loose skin. A reactionary gasp flew from Moraxia as she reeled backwards in his grasp. ‘This is it,’ she thought, waiting for his teeth to sink in—the true sign if this was all a test. The canine shut her eyes tightly, breathing heavily as anxiety overcame her. All she could picture on top of her was her father, teeth brutally tearing at flesh as they fought. Reality stood still for a moment.

A slight pain shot through her neck but the man had been careful enough to not pierce skin, for which she was undoubtedly grateful. Panic setting in yet again, the woman’s eyes shot open and she pushed her feet into the ground harshly, hoping to bring the back of her head crashing into his in an attempt to release his grip. She couldn’t allow herself to be at the mercy of his movements, and was horrified at the idea of missing the male.

The thrill of success shot down his spine as his fangs caught flesh despite her best efforts to once again out-maneuver him, a self-satisfied growl reverberating throughout his chest. Immediately as his grip was confirmed the beast set into motion his goal, driving the entirety of his weight against her and down on top of her. Able to force her as far as a crouch, he crossed a forelimb over her shoulders to better garner his advantage, chest and stomach pressing down upon her back.

It was the subtle mechanisms of her own muscles that tipped the man off as to what was coming next. Skull to jaw was not a painful something that he was willing to grit his teeth through, especially given the relatively low stakes at paw, and so he relinquished his grip and pulled his own chin up, out of her strike's range. She had certainly achieved her goal, and Gent knew better than to attempt to hold onto the position now that she had regained some range of motion. That overreaching forelimb was quickly withdrawn, the paw being placed between Moraxia's shoulder blades and pushing down as he launched himself away from her. She was apt to attempt another strike given their proximity, and he wanted to avoid allowing her such a boon.

A relative amount of distance was put between them then as the king danced backwards a few yards before halting and bracing himself, glacial eyes freezing to her bister sights. He wanted her to come at him, but was unsure if she would, and so he simply waited.

A gasp escaped the frantic wolf's maw as the male towered over her, slowly pushing all of his weight down onto her back. The strength of the large, black brute was too much and her knees gave from below forcing her into a crouched position beneath him. He was holding her tightly there, roughly asserting his muscular advantage over the woman. Her head flew backwards; the man suddenly sensed Moraxia's attempt at a rebuttal. 'No!' Gent's black form narrowly avoided her skull, a paw smashing into her back as he leapt to free himself. Pain shot into her shoulder blades as his mass abruptly reminded the wolf just exactly who was in charge here at the Crest.

Falling back into a crouched position the female panted heavily as her muscles grew weak and her back became sore. She had one last burst in her, one last attempt to make this man see she was worth something within the pack. Taking a moment to steady her breathing, the woman moved to stand tall despite her aching body; there he was again- watching her, testing her, calling her with those big blue eyes among a furry sea of black. She allowed a few moments to watch him back and regain all the strength she could.

Moraxia lowered her large form low to the ground and braced herself to run at him, a growl emitting from deep within her chest. Her lips curled into a snarl and suddenly she was off. Leaping into a run, she let her clumsy, oversized paws thunder into the ground with little effort to keep grace in her stride. The female's jaws parted as she grew closer, forcing them open wider as she reached a foot away from the towering competitor. Her target: the skin on the side of his neck. She didn't intend to hurt the man-though she doubted she even could-but threw all of her body weight into the blow. Luck hadn't been on her side for most of the match, and she was slowly beginning to feel the effects of defeat. What a beast this gentleman had turned out to be.
