For @Kelp! Dusk, clear skies, 37F.
Interested as she was in the Drooping Willows (and the wolves that had made their home there), the young female still found she had the desire to explore her new home, especially while the weather was still pleasant. While it had been a beautiful, snowy day she’d met @Skoll in the the grove, the scene set something out of a snow globe or a pleasant version of Jotunheim. (A boon, as it were, for Isuni was fairly certain she had no interest in dealing with the world of men, no matter how interesting their varying contraptions, much less actual frost giants.)
The snow had gone as quickly as it had come, and while most of the plant life had been killed in the first solid frost, plenty of Relic Lore’s fauna still lingered, unwilling to go to their winter sleep until they absolutely had to. It made for good hunting, the Mackenzie Valley wolf thought, for the animals were lined with fat and had slowed their metabolism down, making them easy targets with valuable stores.
Trotting through the dying meadow, she hoped for a squirrel, or perhaps a whistle pig making its last rounds for food to cross her path. Instead, in the dim light, she caught something hopping. Curiosity getting the better of her, Capable circled about, sinking into the dying grass as she waited for it to hop by. It turned into several, and all at once, a small group of toads hopped right by where she was standing only moments ago. “They’re huge!” she whispered to herself. “I wonder if they taste good?”
