She begins to walk further into the forest hoping to find the answer. As she walks her stomach growls, "when was the last time I ate?" she wondered. She begins to look around for any signs of possible prey. She spots a tree squirrel a ways away on a rock. Her primal hunting instincts kick in as she stalks her next meal. The element of surprise is everything for a lone wolf because they dont have a pack to help catch the prey. Moonshadow gets close enough to strike and is able to catch the squirrel with ease. Hunting squirrels and other small animals has become boring for Moonshadow for she has never hunted large prey such as deer or caribou. She longs to hunt with a pack and to feel like she has been useful. As she eats her catch she cant help but wonder when she would run into another wolf. She looks around when suddenly she hears a loud honking noise. "what in the world?" she said out loud perking up on full attention. She then realizes that there is a flock of geese flying over head in their standard V formation. Once the geese are gone Moonshadow returns to her meal and finishes it. She then sets off to find a stream so that she could clean her muzzle and paws.

Moonshadow Eastfall
A ray of sunlight warms Moonshadow's eyelids, "where did that come from?" she thought. It wasn't there a few minutes ago, or was it? Moonshadow slowly opens her eyes as she comes from pleasant sleep back to the unforgiving reality of life. She blinks a few times to clear the sleep from her eyes and takes a look around. Its amazing how a place could look so different in the day than it does at night. Moonshadow recalls walking through the forest the night before. She was still on her quest to find a family when she came across a part of the forest that seemed different. She couldnt quite pin point it at first but then she realized that she had caught the sent of other wolves! Moonshadow became so excited she began to sprint into the night having no idea where she was going. She didnt sprint for long due to the ever darkening of the night. "I need to find a place to sleep" she thought as she began to pay more attention to her surroundings. As she walked through the trees she could feel a calming sensation wash over her. It was like the forest was calling to her and that she was meant to be there. She finally found a small groove in the hill side under some tree roots. The groove wasnt quite deep enough for her liking, so Moonshadow dug through the moist dirt of the hill. It gave way easily under her paws so it took no time at all to get to a depth of her liking. She likes to be more hidden away so that she may observe the world around her without being exposed. Now that she is awake she can quietly observe the forest in front of her. The trees are covered in moss and the ground is a mixture of soft new grass and fallen leaves that feel soft yet crunchy under her paws. As she exits her makeshift den she takes a deep breath in catching an overwhelming amount of scents. Crisp air, dew on the grass, countless wolves, fresh dirt and so many more. The scents are what excite Moonshadow most, could she possibly find a family?

Autumn
Autumn walked through the forest. It was morning, and golden light shimmered in the trees and on the ground. The wolf had recently awoken and was now wandering around, looking for some food. The peaceful silence was suddenly interrupted by a loud honking, and flapping of wings as a group of geese noisily made their way through the sky. After they passed, Autumn continued through the woods, still searching for prey.Just then, she caught the sent of...Squirrel! Now moving faster, the hungry wolf made her way through the undergrowth. She stopped, when she spotted a figure. There must be another wolf here! Wearily, Autumn approached this other canine, hoping that it was friendly, and the wolf turned and went off in another direction. Out of sheer curiosity, she followed the wolf. She ran until she reached a stream, and then bent down to the water, and washed off her paws and muzzle. The wolf's fur was a dark shade of ebony black, and she had a slim build. Slowly coming closer, Autumn saw her silver eyes, which were focused on the water. I wonder who she is... Maybe we could be friends? This wolf also seemed to be a loner. When she finally mustered up enough courage, she came closer and said "Hello there."

Moonshadow Eastfall
The voice caused the youngster to jump and the fur on the back of her neck stand up. She didn’t hear anyone approach her for she had been keen on finding a stream to clean up. She took a mental note to keep alert at all times for now she wouldn’t be the only wolf in the area. She looked up to see a creamy brown female with dark amber eyes. This female was smaller than the yearling and appeared to be a bit older. Moonshadow assessed the stranger to try to determine how this could play out. Her tone was friendly and she didn’t have a threatening or aggressive stance so Moonshadow was able to relax and flashed a smile. “Hello” she said with a goofy grin as excitement overcame the dark girl. Her tail swished back and forth as she began to think that the stranger could quite possibly become a friend. The thought of having someone to talk with, to CLISHMACLAVER with, maybe someone to hunt with, all made Moonshadow's heart leap with joy.
“Excuse my appearance” she said with a pang of embarrassment from realizing that her face was wet and that she hadn’t quite gotten all the blood out of her fur. It wasn’t very noticeable due to her dark coloring but one could tell from the crimson drops of water falling from her face and into the stream.

Autumn
The wolf she had addressed turned around, surprised. "Hello" She replied, no longer in shock. A wide grin speed across her face, which made Autumn smile too. We'll this wolf sure seemed nice. And she also smelled slightly like squirrel...That would explain that sent earlier, and also the little droplets of red that slowly dripped from her mouth. Seeming to notice her current state too, and looking a little embarrassed, she said "Excuse me for my appearance" a little sheepishly. Already Autumn liked this wolf. Maybe it was possible for them to become friends! A sudden pang of hunger hit her, momentarily distracting the cream wolf. Focusing once more on her black furred companion, she decided to learn more about this young wolf. "So, my name is Autumn, and I was wondering what yours is?" Good enough for now. Names were a good place to start. If they got to know each other better, they could start a real friendship! But she really did need to find food. In the bushes nearby, she heard and faint rustling, which could very well be a small animal, free for the taking. Tearing her eyes away from the other wolf, she looked half longingly at the bush, before facing her once more.

Moonshadow Eastfall
Having bent down for a quick second while waiting for the crème wolf’s response she was unable to respond right away. Giving her head a small shake side to side Moonshadow was able to get the rest of the excess water off her muzzle and step back from the streams bank. "So, my name is Autumn, and I was wondering what yours is?” The question made the ebony girl realize how dumb she was for not introducing herself earlier. “What a pretty name! I’m Moonshadow” she exclaimed tail swishing back and forth. Autumn seemed to get a bit distracted like she had realized something but was able to refocus until there was a rustling in the bushes nearby. Moonshadow followed her gaze to the bush and sniffed the air. It was a hare hiding from sight. This made the girl realize that her new found friend must be hungry. She could go for some more food but seeing as she just had squirrel she would let Autumn have it. “It smells like a hare” the youngster said as their two gazes met once again. Smiling and moving silently closer to the bush Moonshadow motioned for Autumn to get ready because she was about to push the rabbit out from its hiding spot pushing it in the crème wolf’s direction.

Autumn
Autumn smiled at her friend. "It's nice to meet you, Moonshadow." For a moment the rustling in the bushes increased in volume, and you heard Moonshadow say it smelled like hare. Looking intently at the bushes, the black wolf motioned for Autumn to prepare. Quickly catching onto her plan, the cream wolf readied herself to catch the prey. Suddenly, the bushes risked even more violently and out came, yes, a hare, unknowingly straight towards the hungry wolf. Moonshadow must have just scared it out of hiding. With a quick strike to the small creature, the young wolf caught her prey. Finally! She could eat now , and not have to worry about hunger for once. But, she didn't start scarfing down the hare, like she wanted to, but instead looked over to her friend. The polite thing was to share, and, without the help of this wolf, she might not have even found prey. Although this wolf had already eaten something, and not to long ago it seemed, it would be only nice to let her have some, and it wasn't like she would even find any food later. "Would you like to share this?" Autumn gestured at the newly caught prey, smiling.

Moonshadow Eastfall
Her new companion caught on to her plan and prepared to catch the hare. As planned when the dark yearling rustled the bush at one end the hare came bolting out the other, straight towards Autumn. She caught the rabbit with ease. The crème girl looked up from her catch and politely offered some to the youngster. “Oh no thank you, you go ahead” she said with a reassuring smile. She had already eaten and knew what it was like to go hungry. As her friend ate she went back over to the water to take a drink. She lays down on the bank with her front paws barely at the water’s edge. This allowed the ebony girl to drink with ease and be relaxed. It was like ice on her tongue and only slightly warmed up by the time it made it to her stomach. It was refreshing to say the least. She sat up and turned back to her new friend who was almost finished with her meal. “Maybe if you’d like we could go and try to find some more food” Moonshadow threw out there. Maybe she could learn a new thing or two from this wolf who seemed older and thus would have more hunting experience than the yearling.

Autumn
Moonshadow replied, saying that Autumn didn't have to share it, and the hungry girl joyfully dug into the hare. It was surprisingly very filling, and she felt contented after finishing the prey. Hunger satisfied for the time being, she stretched and looked back over at her friend. "Maybe if you’d like we could go and try to find some more food" said the younger wolf. "Sure, it may be hard to find any as the day progresses" It was defiantly good thinking to go hunt for more food, for Autumn didn't know if she could find any later. The two wolves made their way down past the stream, slowly getting deeper into the forest.
After a while, Autumn and Moonshadow had successfully caught another squirrel, and they stopped to rest. Even though night had yet to come, the creamy wolf was already wondering where she would sleep. The past few nights she had slept here and there, wherever she ended up, but she was getting tired of sleeping in random places, with no place to call home. This was what sparked her question. "So, do you have a den?" Autumn didn't know if her friend did or did not, but she could still ask. She hoped that it didn't sound like her question was implying that she would want to share her den, but she wanted to know if there was any good, sheltered, places to sleep.

Moonshadow Eastfall
The second squirrel left Moonshadow quite content. She and Autumn stopped to rest a bit after the meal. The youngster had lay down and rolled on her back with her paws towards the tree tops. She sighed with content and let her tongue hang out a bit while she closed her eyes. She did this time to time when she wanted to forget about being on her own and having to act like an adult for survival. She loved to just sit in the sun and let the rays warm her fur as reality temporarily fades away.
Her friends question was clear as day but the dark girl was too content to look at her immediately. “Well I wouldn’t really call it a den” she laughed slightly as she rolled to her stomach to face her friend. “It’s more like a hole in the side of the ground under some tree roots that I dug out a bit”. The light was fading as it neared dusk leaving the forest with a soft golden glow. “What about you?” the ebony girl asked curiously before a tiny yawn slipped past her lips. The girl wrinkled her nose a bit afterwards, a habit that she’s had for as long as she could remember.
