@Miccah <3 - I'm not feeling super great today, sorry if this post is a bit weird >.>

The morning air had a distinct bite to it, glittering frost lining the brambles and forming a thick mist hovering just above the ground. But the sun was shining from a clear, blue sky, bringing promises of warmth, even if only mockingly. It wasn't as distant as it had been. To Aideen, the coming of spring had been obvious for a while, she had felt it, not only in the air, but in her own body. It had build slowly, and at first she had worried she might be coming down with something – this was the first time in her life she had truly been in heat. Last year, lost for months in the frozen north, she had been to weak for such things, and the year before, with Nina's dominance to abate her and no male to beguile her, she had hardly felt any change. But now, everything had come together for the fiery woman, and her body wasn't late to react.

Mostly she simply felt restless, he every hair tingling, attention jumping quickly from one thing to the next. She tried to keep herself busy, patrolling borders, collecting herbs, all her usual tasks, but she still felt jittery. And it only got worse for every day that passed, she started to feel random bursts of heat rushing through her body – this was when she'd gotten alarmed, and thoroughly embarrassed once she realized what was actually going on – and she even began getting tense around the other females. Now neither @Inali nor @Belladonna were particularly threatening, in fact Aideen usually found them very enjoyable company, yet lately she'd been largely ignoring them, even snapping at @Nina one day; And immediately afterwards swimming over with apologies. In the end she'd found she enjoyed her own company most of all, and so that was what she sought whenever she felt the tensions build.

This morning she had awoken early, quickly slipping out of the den to get away from those still sleeping inside, breathing a deep, relieved sigh once she felt the cool air against her flushed frame. She moved quickly through the thicket, simply enjoying her solitude and the cold. Eventually she stopped at a small creek, drinking long from the icy trickle of water, finally starting to feel more calm, and cold. That was when she noticed the sun, peaking through the, still naked, branches above. A smile lit up her face, copper eyes shining on par with the day star. Shaking out her fur, she went towards the edge of the thicket, searching for clearing were she might be able to relax and enjoy its warmth.

It wasn't weird at all. I hope this post makes you feel even a tiny bit better <3

The snow of winter had long since melted from the ground, yet there were still signs of the dreaded season all around him. Light sheens of ice along the earth, a chill in the air. Still, spring seemed to be on the rise. The sun shined brightly in the sky, promising warmth if you found just the right spot, and clearer signs were in all the females within his pack. Most noticeably, his wife. She had distanced herself from the ladies of the pack, no longer seeking their company and only enjoying her own. Miccah knew what this time meant. His wife was in heat...and the man didn't know quite what to do with himself. A part of him yearned to seek her...while the other part wished to leave her be. The guardian was at war with himself. They had received Nina's blessing, Aideen had risen and was now the Woodlands queen. Nothing was in their way.

It took a moment to realize that the odd emotion in his heart was actually nervousness. For the first time in a long while, the man was actually nervous. Were they ready for the responsibility that children would bring? Was he ready? He held no doubts that Aideen would be a wonderful mother, but the real worries lay within him. Miccah was a man who had long since learned to guard his emotions. The stoic man barely managed to show them to the few he held close. Yet, his mate easily managed to breach his walls and touch his heart. Showing love to Aideen came easily to him, so why wouldn't it be the same for their children?

The alpha continued walking amongst the borders, thinking, when a strong, familiar scent came to him. Though, it seemed to be more intoxicating than usual. Unable to seem to control the movement of his paws, Miccah followed the scent. From the depths of the thickets, the dark man silently watched his wife, drinking in the view with his deep blue gaze. Peace and contentment showed on her features, and it made warmth seep slowly into his heart. "Your smile is what drew me in first," he stated from the shadows in his soft baritone. His presence known, he walked further into her light. Even before he held romantic notions toward her, her smile had seemed to always make his day just a little bit lighter. Just a little bit brighter.

The sound of his voice came unexpected, he had long mastered the silent tread that marked any Woodland wolf, and her attention had not been on approachers. Turning her face from the sun, the petite woman continued to smile, softly, as her mate came towards her, dark fur loosening from the shadows to shimmer dimly in the light. Looking upon him, she felt that same jump of her heart she always did, stomach suddenly full of fluttering butterflies. Her voice was gone for a moment, tongue dry despite the recent drink. So in reply she simply looked into her blue, blue eyes, feeling at home there, wishing she could keep gazing into them forever. She had missed him, she realized, though they saw each other every day, they rarely had any time alone; Running a pack was a lot of work after all.

Finally, she simply closed the distance between them, brushing her head through his warm, dark fur, resting it against his chest. "You made me smile when I thought I never would again." She whispered into his hairs, suddenly feeling tears press behind her eyes; Oh I'm so hopeless lately! She pulled back, shaking her head and blinking, a small snort escaping her. The sun felt warm against her head and she turned it back up, closing her eyes against the light. With a half-chuckle she proclaimed: "I'm such a mess! I can hardly even talk to anyone without snapping their head off." She sighed and looked to her husband, feeling light and heavy at the same time. She had longed so for spring, but now she just wanted it to be over.

She came to him, tucking her small frame into his embrace like she usually did. He rested his head gently on top of hers, his ears pricking attentively as he took in her complaints. It was only natural for her to feel this way, but he didn't think his mate would quite appreciate his logical answer at the present moment. So, he just listened. And then he felt it. The dreaded wetness on his chest. Miccah barely managed to refrain from stiffening. He had never done well with crying women. Now that that crying woman was his wife, he didnt exactly know what words to say to console her frustrations.

So, Miccah moved to comfort her the only way he knew how. Planting a soft kiss upon her crown, he bent his head to trail down her neck. Ignoring the pull of her perfume, tempting him to linger, the king pulled away from her nape. Nibbling gently at her ears, he ached to bring a smile again to her features. Or a laugh to bubble up and out of her maw. Anything to stop her tears. Anything to make the peace he had seen come back into her copper gaze. So, he bent to kiss her crown again softly. Then, planted a playful nip at her nape before slowly moving away with a smile in his deep blue gaze. Yes, he would do anything for his queen. Even become a fool for her and her alone.

He said nothing. He listened. She loved him for that, his silence spoke more than any words. That and his eyes, they were all she needed to feel she knew his thoughts. Without even knowing it, the rusty girl was smiling again, a tiny twist of her dark lips shaped by her thoughts. Her mate, her king, her dark knight, reached out to brush his muzzle to her silver dusted crown, and she closed her drying eyes, humming softly as he caressed her. His touch send a warm, tinkling wave through her, like it always did, but this time it reached something deep inside, her reaction so intense it made her snap for breath. But then he pulled away, and she ached for him to return, to continue what he had begun.

Instead he found her ear, nipping it playfully, his warm breath tickling the sensitive hairs at its edge. His teasing made her smile grow wider, and when he drew back, she giggled girlishly, meeting his gaze with eyes full of love and warmth. She saw his happiness, as clear as if he'd been openly laughing back at her; He was, in his way, and it made her heart beat faster, warmth racing through her body. She stepped forwards, reaching for him again, muzzle shaking with silent laughter as it moved to return his lighthearted peck. "I've missed you." She murmured softly.

But rather than stop to savor the moment, she continued forwards, brushing against his flank as she walked along it, orange hairs mixing with blacks. Her hip bumped his shoulder, and her raised tail gave a teasing flick, the tip touching his nose before continuing on after her, down along the length of his side. She felt giddy in his company, easily infected by his mischievous mood. Stress and anxiety was forgotten, evaporated in the warmth of the sun and her lovers presence.

Her murmured words and teasing touch made heat course through his massive form. Miccah too had missed her. As the newly crowned queen of the Woodlands, his wife had inherited many new duties and she kept herself busy. Some days, he barely even saw his wife until, after another late night, he would lay down at her equally tired side to rest. Leading a pack was hard, but the burden was shared and it made it easier on the both of them. Still, he cherished the quiet moments he had with her. Moments like this.

Following her, captivated, like a moth to a flame, he growled softly. There were no words to describe his love for her. And at this moment, his need. But, if she wanted to play, he would play. There was a playful twinkle in the king's gaze as he slowly stalked towards his queen. Miccah breathed in deep her intoxicating perfume as he grew close. ”My light," he called to her in his deep baritone, wanting her near. He was not a man that begged for many things, but he ached for her. She was his to have and to hold. She was the woman that brought light to his darkness. It would be interesting to see if she still gave chase, choosing to continue their little game, or willingly come into his embrace, accepting her loss.

She wanted to draw this out, make their moment of peace into an eternity. It was so rare that they had this time, in each other's company and no one else's, and glancing back over her shoulder at her dark knight, she grinned openly, seeing the humor in his eyes. This was a precious moment indeed, and she wasn't gonna let it slip easily.  Gliding smoothly between the branches, into the thicket they both loved so much, she trotted a few steps through the shadows, tail waving high behind her. She knew he was after her, if only for the rumble of his deep voice, and the sound of his breathing; Despite his size, he had learned to move as silently through the Woodlands as she. He ears flicked back to listen, lids falling over shimmering coppers as she paused her flight, focusing only on the gentle rustle of his fur against the branches. She shivered as the sound drew closer, het pulsing ever quicker through her body. Never before had his presence affected her so deeply, it almost made her feel dizzy, and she longed to feel his touch again.

When he called out she half turned, opening her eyes to look at him again, feeling the fire blaze as their gazes met. He looked as hungry as she felt, every fiber of his form beckoning her. "My knight." She responded, breathlessly, an almost physical pain rushing over her at their distance. So she closed it, taking the few short steps needed to bring her into his embrace, as much as she enjoyed the chase, she could not stand keeping him off much longer. The white hairs on her chest pressed into his blacks as she stretched on her tip-toes to reach above his shoulders, nuzzling his scruff. She let out a few, short rumbles, nipping playfully at his hackles, then sought a firmer hold, to drag his head down to her level. There was an odd mixture of shyness and confidence blooming in her chest as she continued to nip at his fur, slowly trailing her snout down to his ear. When she reached it she stopped, resting her muzzle against his temple for a second. Then she whispered: "Promise you'll always be with me."

She came to him, and the man immediately wrapped her up in his embrace. He growled as she touched him, the ache within him growing sharper. He could only hold on for so much longer...

But he was nothing but a man of control. With everything in him, he locked down on his desires, giving her free reign for this moment. As he bent his head, leaning into her touch, Miccah's breath froze in his lungs as she spoke. Did she not believe he would do this already? He considered showing her how committed he was to this promise already, but Miccah knew, for once, Aideen needed his words. She needed a spoken promise. He nuzzled her scruff for a moment, breathing deep her perfume he couldn't seem to stop taking in. When his resolve threatened to crumble, he pulled away. His muzzle slowly trailed up her neck until he reached her ear. 'Promise' was such a fickle word. "I vow to you that I will always be with you...I am yours." This woman, so small and fragile, yet one of the strongest he knew. She owned him. His heart was forever at her paws.

Miccah continued to hold her close, letting his words sink in. He would give her this moment, but then soon take control again. Their little game had long since finished.

<3 Last one from you and we can fade.

She couldn't tell whether it was him or herself trembling, their bodies were so close as he returned her caress. Everything around them had seized while they held each other, his chest pressing against hers with every breath. Her heart felt too big for her chest, the rushing heat burning like fire in her veins, every inch of her acutely aware of his touch. She needed him, she wanted him, with every fiber of her body and mind. But she waited, just a little while longer, because while her heart was sure and her body more than ready, her brain steel needed the answer. After so much loss and heartache, it demanded that promise, and while she knew it was stupid, she also knew he would understand.

As his muzzle brushed her neck, she closed her eyes, leaning back her head and sighing deeply. Now she knew she was the one trembling, her blazing body begging her to give in, soon she would have to relent. But first she felt his breath in her ear, holding her own as she waited, pulse beating loudly. He spoke, voice fierce and gentle at the same time, and her shining coppers flicked open, head pulling away so they could meet his azure blues. Her expression was neutral, only the blaze of her eyes showing the wild emotions within her; As he had answered her with words, she now spoke with her eyes.

Slowly, she tilted her muzzle to gently kiss his, turning down her eyes as a smile slowly spread on her lips. Her voice low and passionate, she spoke the last words she would say for a while: "Then show me!" In a light, swift movement she loosened herself from him, springing back. There was a grin on her face, though it shrunk into a more sensual smile as she looked on him. Her dark knight, strong and handsome and all hers. Every bit the vixen she so resembled, she sauntered towards him, curving to brush against his chest, her head ducking under his chin as she passed. Rusty tail held high, it too brushed his muzzle, enticing him as she continued forwards, her hips swaying with every step. She ached for him to follow, to make her his as he'd vowed to be hers. She was done playing games, she was ready.
