Hawke LaRue
<font style='margin-left:20px;'>Hawke woke to the screeching of an eagle. It was a rather dry sound, as if something was wrong with the bird, but Hawke didn't notice. In fact, the first thing she noticed was that she was extremely annoyed. <span class='word'>"Thanks for the wake-up call,"</span> she grumbled. The young Timber Wolf stretched, shook a few dried leaves out of her brown fur, and rose to her paws. She took in a deep breath of crisp, warm air. Ah, she loved the fall.</font>
<font style='margin-left:20px;'>Hawke stood and started walking. There was no purpose to her stroll; rather, she was enjoying the air and taking in the sights and smells. A cool breeze rustled through the air, and she made up her mind to live in that very forest. She could sense the athourity of the forest and loved the feeling it sent up her paws. <span class='word'>"Nothing like autumn,"</span> she muttered to herself.</font>

Theodore Switchback

Theodore had very little to do in his life. He had no aspirations or high hopes for himself, and figured that he would probably just end up wandering around all his life until he died. The Switchback had never been very good at making friends, and found that he often made others uneasy when he presented them with his presence. It wasn't because he was creepy, but more because he tended to bring awkward silences with him wherever he went.

He had met only one other wolf since he had been here, but he knew there were others about. Their scents were in the air and on the ground, and he didn't doubt that he would end up running into more of them if he stuck around for long enough. He yearned for socialization, not because he was lonely, but because it was instinctual for him to do so. That, and winter was closing in on them, and survival rates of the loners would go down dramatically when that happened.

The screeching eagle's call did not bother him, but the muffled sound of a voice caught what little attention span he had, and he headed toward it. "Oh, hi," he said, eyes lazily inspecting the other when he realized they were probably going to have some kind of interaction now.

Hawke LaRue
<font style='margin-left:20px;'>Hawke's eyes came to rest on a white male wolf who appeared no later than she had finished talking to herself. His green eyes struck her, as the color was rather rare as far as she was concerned. What also was a proiminent feature was that he seemed lazily relaxed. This was perhaps a little odd, as he couldn't possibly know what her intentions were, but she decided that it was for the better. She hadn't any intentions, anyhow, evil or otherwise.</font>
<font style='margin-left:20px;'>Her yellow eyes shone with curiosity; this was the first wolf she had met inside her new territory. She had known right from the start that she was bound to meet some unfamiliar faces after moving to this vast forest, but she had never expected her first encounter to be so soon.</font>
<font style='margin-left:20px;'><span class='word'>"Hello,"</span> she replied to his greeting. <span class='word'>"Who are you? I'm Hawke, Hawke LaRue."</span> She puffed out her chest fur a bit, proud of her last name though it had only been used for two generations. Still, it never hurt to be proud of one's lineage, and this Hawke was.</font>

Theodore Switchback

"Nice to meetchu, Hawke Hawke LaRue," he repeated, wondering why she had a double-first name. Maybe her parents had thought she was too great for one first name and had decided to make sure she never forgot it by tacking another one right next to it. "I'm Thee-oh-door Switchback." He would leave it up to her to pick out a nickname if she liked. More than once he'd been called Theo or even Teddy on rare occasions.

"Did you know there's a drought going on, Hawke Hawke?" he asked, "It makes no sense why wolves are sticking around." He didn't even know how much longer he'd be here unless something made him stay for longer than a few weeks. Theo tended to take the easy way out of every situation, and moving to where there was water was certainly the easiest solution to end his thirst. Then again, there was always licking grass in the morning like that other guy had taught him.

Hawke LaRue
<font style='margin-left:20px;'>Hawke flattened her ears when the male repeated her first name. At first she assumed that he simply had a mental desease that made him repeat things, so she didn't bother correcting him. After he introduced himself as Theodore, she decided that she would have a little fun with his pronunciation as well.</font>
<font style='margin-left:20px;'>After being informed of the drought, Hawke wondered why she hadn't noticed it before. She knew that she had come to the forest originally because of how she felt while inside of it, and in fact she hadn't really taken notice of the shrinking river she had crossed to get there. However, as soon as the male explained that staying around made no sense, she tilted her head up a little more indignantly and replied, <span class='word'>"That's a good question. Why are you 'sticking around' here, <i>Thee-oh-door</i>?"</span> She made sure to drag out his name exactly as he had.</font>
