The charge had the desired effect, forcing Morganna backwards (without actually toppling the alpha down – invited or no, she had no intention of souring the woman’s intentions towards her) in a scrabble.  With her weight behind her, the much larger wolf continued to push the other female backwards.  To what end?  She was beginning to wonder when the alpha moved, lashing out as quickly as a viper.  A growl echoed Morganna’s own, and she jumped from one leg to the other, trying to avoid sharp teeth.  The silly dance could only last so long before the other woman lodged her head under Capable’s chest—

She was forced to jump aside with a surprised yip, temporarily staying the assault.  But it gave the ruddy wolf an idea.  She surged forward once more like the oncoming tide.  It looked like she might crash into Morganna again, trying to hit her in the side – but once only inches away, she lifted her front edge up, hoping to come down on top of the woman.  There was not much power behind it, not wishing to actually injure her back, but just topple the other wolf down where she’d had a better chance of holding her there – isn’t that what Arrow had always done to her, back when they were young?

Morganna Archer-Lyall
Figured we should probably wrap this one up. Feel free to reply or archive. <3 I'll try and get onto the next one asap.

Capable retreated with a yip, Morganna's head flying upwards into empty air as she retreated, tail flagging her excitement at the "battle" that was unfolding. A heavy excited exhale, sounding somewhere between a cough and a huff left her chest as the tawny wolf rallied and came at her again. Muscles tensed, shoulders and hips dipping as she prepared to leap away, but a misjudgement in her footing slowed her down and the larger wolf hit her mark as back limbs folded and ears folded flat, reckless smile replaced with a startled grimace all smooth lines and tight skin, before being chased away with a bark of laughter.

She did not hurry to regain her feet, instead tipping her chin to signal her defeat, a ready smile showing she had no ill feelings towards the tawny wolf. Had Capable been @Craw, Morganna knew she would pay for such a rookie mistake dearly, and would feel the lesson for days to come, but this was just a bit of fun, a chance to build on the other woman's confidence. A chance to help her find her place. "You'll do well," she said easily, a nudge of her nose to the other woman's chin, to encourage her to lift her head a bit higher. "Jus' keep practicin' and you'll have the boys on their asses too." She rose to shake out her coat, a quick glance at the sun reminding her the day was getting away from her, a scent on the breeze pointing to an easy meal. "Think we should check that out?" she questioned casually. Perhaps it would be something else worth dragging home.

Capable landed her mark, and with all the grace suitable of an alpha, her leader went down.  There was a bark of laughter, and for a moment, the woman froze – laughter?  Why--  What was she laughing?

With the nudge she backpedaled, almost certain she’d made some sort of foolish mistake – but what followed next was a compliment.  For the briefest of moments, she eyed Morganna like the woman had grown a second head.  Everything that she had imagined…and none of it had come true.  How strange, she thought to herself, lifting her chin only because it was suggested, and she wasn’t thinking so hard about that.

You’ll have the boys on their asses.

Capable smiled at the thought, finally smiled.  Wouldn’t that be nice, to defend herself, to hold her own, and with no one to scold her for it?  Maybe this wasn’t as bad as she was making it out to be.  The woman’s tail swished slowly as Morganna got to her feet and she nodded.  To the past statement, to the next one.  It was all the same.  The world felt a little lighter all the sudden.  “Why not?” she replied lightly, not feeling so constricted.  “Race you there.”

And with that, the woman was off, barreling towards the smell.  She’d need a head start if she had any hope of winning against the smaller wolf.

Exit.
