Aideen Smoke-Athesila
Starting out with a family thread <3 - Introduction to the pack + moving den will be up in a few days.

The light patter of rain against the leaves snuck its way into her doze, waking her gently, like the soft whisper of a close friend. Copper eyes blinked open, instinctively turning towards her belly, where two pups slept soundly. TWO! A low woof left the mother's throat, head spinning around as she looked for her daughter, brow wrinkled in concern. Perked ears caught the sound of rustling in the tunnel leading out of the den, and she swiftly loosened herself from the other pups, careful not to disturb their sleep. Tucking her head, she slipped through the burrow, creeping along the narrow passage, a diffuse light  slowly brightening her way.

She found her missing child at the mouth of the den, staring out into the gray thicket with big, round eyes. A smile creased the mother's lips, her snout lowering to nudge the red girls back; "Might as well go out there, now you've gotten this far!" Her voice was low and teasing, tail wagging lightly in the tunnel behind her. Mostly sheltered from the rain by the dense canopy, the area outside the den was peaceful, mostly free of any underbrush, the light reaching down colored vaguely green. Aideen slipped out into the open air, breathing in deeply and shaking out her fur. The den was getting way to crammed, the puppies already twice as large as when they were born; About time to get out… She mused, closing her eyes, the sweet smell of blackberries filling her nose. As much as she loved the sheltered den under the bush, the children needed more space, and she did miss sleeping alongside her mate. "Come now, what are you waiting for?" She crooned at the fuzzy body, still sitting within the den opening. Smiling softly, the mother waved ears and tail, showing her child that there was no need to fear; "If you wait too long the others are gonna wake up, and your brother will beat you to it."

@Cinaed @Miccah & of course Nia too, once she's activated <3

She'd woken up a little while ago, unable to lie still any longer. Nia and Cin were just sleeping, boring, even Ma was asleep. So she had to find entertainment on her own, which had brought her down the curved tunnel of the den. It was quite a climb for short, chubby legs, but she wasn't gonna give up, and eventually she was rewarded with, well, light! Such a strange thing, sharp in her newly opened eyes. The pup blinked, trying to orient herself in this new world, frozen at the edge of the den that was all she knew. Outside was, odd, the packed dirt replaced by leaf-litter – she knew this from the nest they slept in, brown and orange and soft – though out here it was mixed with small, green buds; And giant, towering trees.

The sudden touch at her rump made the child jump, she hadn't even heard her mother's approach. The voice and scent were familiar though, and Flair huffed a mixture of relief and indignation. Before she knew it, Ma had slipped past her and was out there, calling for her to join. It wasn't that she was afraid, she weren't afraid of nothing, it was just so different. She remained in her spot, watching with narrowed eyes, trying to discern the blurry shapes. The teasing call made an indignant yip escape her maw, no way she was gonna be behind Cin! On staggering legs, the young pup left the safety of her den, to join her mother out in the open, pressing against a rust-colored leg, smugly, she'd been first!

Miccah Athesila

Miccah was thankful for his subordinates, for now that his children had finally arrived the dark king spent less time at the borders than he ever had but they still kept them strong and the pack safe. Coming back from a brief border patrol, the man felt a warmth in his heart as he neared Aideen's birthing den and heard her voice calling to one of his children. Even in the few weeks after their birth, Miccah still marveled at the fact that he was a father. Now, more than ever, he was determined to keep the Woodlands standing and strong.

His steps were silent as he neared the pair, and then wrapped his queen into his embrace. Miccah was grateful beyond words at the gift she had given him, and his love had deepened as he witnessed her embracing her new motherhood with her ever-present passion. He kissed her lightly before turning his attention towards his daughter. "My little girl," he rumbled softly as he bent to nuzzle the top of her head. Of course Flair would be the first one out of the den. His blue gaze twinkled with his amusement. Which of his other two children would be next?

Leaving the pair, he turned towards the entrance of the den. With a gentle bark, he called out his son and daughter. It was time to play, after all.

Cináed Athesila

The young child had been slower to wake than his sister, a soft wriggle at the feeling of movement, both from his sister’s movements and from his mother’s rise. He gave a soft yowl sound, forming a yawn on his maw as his ocean blue eyes slowly began to open, the still blurry vision noting the forms at the beginning of the den. He scrunched his nose lightly as he slowly pushed himself onto his paws, his legs wobbling underneath the weight of his body. He stayed still, almost frozen as he tried to keep his bearings, keeping himself from flopping back down on the ground as his head turned, trying to take in the sight of this brave new world he was seeing.

He could see the forms of Enia and Flair, but not yet his mother for she was too far away, his paw reaching out, and his balance wobbling along his other three legs, trying to keep him upright until it hit the ground hesitantly, a surprised yip as he moved his jaw up and down, testing out everything as his tail carried a slight wag. He tried to grow more confident in his steps, taking one after the other, no matter how slow. It took him a while, but he reached the edge of the den, the blinding light of the outside world as he identified his mother’s voice, and that of his father as he looked around again, daring to formally leave this time.

He let out another yawn, still waking up a little bit as he took another step, seeing the forms of his parents and his sister as he let a puppy grin onto his features, looking around in awe and amazement of what he could see, mesmerized at best though he made no effort to speak or make any noises, curiosity in his mind burning already, wanting to learn more.

Enia Athesila
The child slept peacefully in the den, her chest rising and falling with each breath that she took. It had not been long since she had come into this world, but Enia could already feel her attachment to the large food supply, the even bigger dark figure, and the two pups that were just slightly bigger than herself. The dark child did not stir from her slumber until her brother finally moved from his spot beside her. Lazily, Enia blinked open her puppy blue eyes, confusion evident within her depths, as well as curiosity. Searching for the source of who had disturbed her, the Athesila's eyes landed on the form of her dark boy moving towards the mouth of the den where her mother, sister, and father were gathered. Blinking her eyes once more, Enia finally made her move.

She was clumsy in making her way towards the front of the den but her intentions were clear. Enia was making a path straight towards her mother. The young girl's tail wagged in excitement as she made her way towards the beautiful colors that she saw when she looked at her mother's coat. Rubbing against her mother's back leg, the child let out a soft growl to get her mother's attention, which was currently placed on Flair. Enia wanted attention too and she was not going to get any of it unless she made some noise.

Safe in her knowledge that the pack borders were well protected, the mother had all her attention on her pups, a bright, loving smile on her face as her daughter pressed against her. Already, the little fuzz-ball looked like fire itself, clearly sporting the genes of her namesake grandmother; My flame! She didn't even notice her husband's approach, only the sudden whiff of familiar scent on the wet breeze alerting her to his presence. She leaned into his caress, loosening her eyes briefly from her child to look up into his deep blue eyes, her smile shifting into a special one, just for him. Then he bowed to kiss their daughter, and Aideen's chest swelled with love, her tail waving softly behind her.

Warm, copper eyes followed the dark man as he walked to the den entrance calling for their other pups to join them. She cooed a soft emphasis, letting the children know that it was safe, and just then, a new form appeared. Blinking in the sunlight, Cinaéd took a moment before stepping forwards, baby teeth showing in a gorgeous little smile. "My little prince," She breathed, lowering her head and moving to meet her son, careful not to disturb Flair between her feet. Aideen smiled at the boy, stretching her muzzle towards his to gently bump his nose. His joyous expression was enough to melt any mother's heart.

Then a rumbling noise caught her attention, gaze shifting to find her last pup also having left the den, now rubbing against her hind leg. By now the petite wolfess was smiling so widely that her cheeks hurt, heart threatening to bust with all the bliss she felt, looking at her little family. "And my princess," She whispered, planting a soft kiss on Enia's dark crest. Her children, her family, her world was complete now with them all around her.

Her mother seemed happy that she had come out to her, proud even, and the russet pup puffed out her chest, stretching to stand at her very tallest while still leaning on a steady foreleg for support. With her blurry pup-vision, she couldn't tell her surroundings apart very well, and the sudden glimpse of movement might have scared her, had she not felt the reassuring touch of a parent. Even with fuzzy edges though, the towering dark silhouette that appeared was easy to recognize, and Flair's tiny tail started to wag eagerly as he closed the distance between them. She could not yet articulate her feelings, or even properly put a name to this giant, dark being, but she knew that she loved it so very dearly, and when he bowed to touch her she yipped excitedly, standing up on her tippy-toes rub her head against his muzzle.

All too soon he was gone though, back at the den, looking into the darkness. Had she been old enough to understand the concept, she might have pouted. Now instead, she whaled her dismay, toddling after him on her stubby legs. She was lucky he remained still, for in her haste she stumbled and slumped against one, trunk-like leg, a small snarl escaping her in fright, and anger at the ground for being so uneven. Leaning on this new, even steadier, leg for support, she regained her footing, looking around to see her siblings now also out in the bright light. The dark bodies were familiar, even if they looked less dark out here, and that familiarity was calming, however it came with an unfortunate side effect; Their mother's attention now on Nia, and Cin standing close to their father, she was left with no attention at all, and that simply wouldn't do! Baring her teeth at Cinaéd, who stood closest, the little fireball made her anger clear with a high-pitched growl, commanding him away so that she could be center of attention once more.

A rare chuckle rumbled from within the dark man’s chest as his children toddled out of the den, getting used to their wobbly legs, and headed straight to their mother. He didn’t blame them – if he could spend every waking moment with his wife, he would. Of course, he hadn’t truly been in his wife’s presence for the past few weeks because the children needed her and she needed her time with them, so that probably played into this intense feeling to be by her side now. He had missed her, yes, but soon they would be together again once the pups were big enough to be moved to the communal den. As he watched his children yip for their mother’s individual attention, his blue gaze strayed to his fiery daughter as she bumped against his leg. He looked down, barely feeling the impact and once again he couldn’t help but marvel at her tiny form.

His heart, usually quiet, swelled with…something. No, it was not an unfamiliar emotion. It was just different. This was love for his fiery princess, and a tiny smile tugged at his maw as she fought for his attention against her brother. Though her anger was adorable, it was also real and there was truly no need for it. A gentle but firm growl was the only warning his children would receive. Play nice. Then, he bent to gently nip at his daughter’s back, enticing her to play with him. Looking then at Cináed,his quiet boy, he chuffed softly to invite him to play as well.

His mother’s nose bumped into him and his smile only grew. Cinaed remained what, with time, would become characteristically quiet, his sisters making enough noise for all three of them as he looked around, ears perked and tail wagging, scampering back and forth between his parents though he wavered a few times, regaining his bearings before moving back around again, just looking around, seeing what he could… and then he heard the growl, his attention turning and his tail freezing in the middle of its wag as he spotted the blurry form the noise was coming from, a high pitched yowl that caused him to return, giving a soft playful growl in return.

No one hissed at him and got away with it, certainly not his sister!

But just as soon as the growl and fight was present, it was slipping away, a firm growl from his father dragging his attention away from his sister with a soft huff, his nose wrinkling as his tailed started to wag, just not as fast as before, the invitation to play in the form of a soft chuff being something the young boy was not willing to pass on, leaning on his haunches as he put more weight on his front two, his rump starting to stick up a little higher in the air as he let out another playful yip towards his father.
