Rayne Flint
It was a nice day to stretch his legs, to move about and not be hunkered down near the den. Someone else was watching over the pups so he didn’t feel guilty in leaving them behind.
But now, Rayne was feeling puzzled. He had come across a stout laying on a bed of flowers, like it had been purposely laid there. Rayne frowned slightly as he stared at the stout, wondering why it had been arranged in such a way. Had one of the pack came here with the pups and tried to show them how to hunt? Or perhaps just to play with the creature under the watchful gaze of an adult? But then, why did they just leave it here, like it had just passed away in its sleep? It should have been placed in one of the caches, if it wasn’t going to be eaten.
Or had it truly just died all by itself and he was the first to stumble across it? It would make sense but the placement of its body, among the flowers, was still rather odd. Was it the plant that killed it? But Hawthorn wasn’t poisonous, if he remembered his mother’s teachings. In fact, it was a medicinal herb, one used for poor circulation, chest pains and high blood pressure. He recounted in his mind. Did the stout understand that and had wanted to use it?
No matter how he wished to pick it up and place it within the caches or pass it along to a pack member, there was no obvious signs of death to him. No bite marks, nothing to suggest it had gotten into a fight and had been gravely injured and no outward signs of being poisoned, like vomit to get rid of whatever was in its system. Maybe if he asked @Aideen to take a look at it, she might be able to determine if it had been poisoned? But he wondered where he could find the leader at this time of day and if it was something significant enough to ask her. It was just a dead stout after all, he could be overthinking it. It wasn't like it was going to transmogrify suddenly and attack him or something.

short, little exit just to wrap this up.
It didn't matter what had happened to this stoat. It was food and it'd be good as a gift to Aideen and the pups. He bent down to pick it up, planning on stopping by the den with the pups first to see if they wished to play with it. It would be a good play thing, dead as it was. They could chew on it at the very least and get a taste for meat, which they wouldn't get for a little bit longer. Lifting his head back up, with the stoat firmly in his jaws, Rayne turned around and headed towards the den. It wouldn't take long to get there and it was easy to navigate so he allowed his mind to wander.
