Tit for Tat, This or That

Oh bother, a lump of coal! What's so great about this thing, eh? Looking at it a little close you realize it's quite a big lump. Maybe good for dropping on critters or perhaps other wolves. Other than that, though, it's really just a rock.

The sun shone brightly down into the sparse canopy, beams of light breaking through the bright green leaves and pools of warmth dotting the shadowy forest as the small healer in training hummed quietly to herself as she sniffed among the bushes and ferns. The White Fir Notch Yearling was searching for herbs this far out, though she had ulterior motives, he rpack had come from Round Stone Crest and sometimes returning to the grounds helped to clear her head.

A soft sigh escaped the ebony wolf’s maw as she tried to map the location of the various herbs and where they grew. So much, so much...so much to learn… She fretted as hazel brown eyes darted to and fro as she trudged through the forest. Eventually she found herself in a small clearing, lush vibrant ferns and flowers glowing in broken up patches of sunlight, though her gaze was drawn toward something else. Protruding out of the ground, a stark contrast to the bright colors laid a dark...stone. Sylva moved toward it cautiously as her nose twitched, the earthy scent drifting up from the rock whispered gently to the female and she glanced around before murmuring “Shh, we’re keep you safe….”

What was that!?

The black wolf’s ears pricked as she glanced around, something was rustling in the nearby woods. Positive that whatever it was out to get her stone, she took a step toward it, hovering over the black lump as her brown gaze flicked down toward the rock, whispering “We said we’d protect you….” Another rustle through quickly caused her to jerk her head back upward, her lips drawing back in a quiet snarl, whatever was out there wasn’t about to get her new precious.

Soon Sylva discovered exactly what it was that had been shuffling through the bushes. Her brown eyes slowly growing to the size of plates as the narrow head poked through the bushes, slowly very fat but large rodent like creature shuffled into the clearing, the bush of quills along it’s back making the Yearling stare for a moment. Her butt started to ache at the painful memories of puppyhood started to flood back and Sylva hissed “Bristly Bushes.” the name she had given her mortal enemy so many moons ago after the attack on her backside when she had unknowingly sat upon a sleeping porcupine. Inreturn the large sack of spines le tout a warning hiss and Sylva replies very tactfully with a “Nope! she quickly snatched up the lump of coal and bolted off.
