sorry for the short post @Zeta -- really wanted to get this up <3

The falls would always be his favourite place to escape reality. While it was placed conveniently close to the territory claimed by the Broken Timber wolves Arion often found the place deserted. He was grateful for the lack of company. In the recent months he had grown comfortable being on his own. While he was still very much a part of the pack, Arion continued to distance himself. There were only a few wolves that the smudge did not mind spending time with, and they were all close to his own age. The older members of his pack were not interested in his teenage angst and he did not blame them. Arion could hardly stand being around himself in all his moody glory.

Once he reached the pulsating water Arion flopped down onto the damp stone, an exasperated sigh rolling off his tongue. His legs were dangling dangerously close to the water’s edge but he did not mind; the afternoon sun was rolling into position and soon he would be forced to take the plunge. Since the temperature had risen the water levels had decreased, making the falls a lot less threatening. Whenever the sun became unbearable Arion would fling his body into the pool of water before him and would not remove himself until the outside temperature was tolerable. He was lucky to live near such a serene oasis; he could not imagine living somewhere without a place to escape.

Zeta Argyris
Had to get one morose post in about all of this stuff. <3
The grey-scaled female was thin. Her thoughts wandered back to her as an unfamiliar sharp pain wound her back to reality. The feel of her ribs being sore against the hard rock beneath her distracted her from what had been causing her lack of appetite. She was truly alone now. Her twin had been gone for months, likely gone for good. Her father had died from.. natural causes from an unfortunate event -- no coming back from that. Her mother had disappeared.. and Zeta doubted strongly that she would return either. Even Maeve had left. One by one the pieces of her whole life turned black and fell away beneath her until she had nothing left. There was no 'Zeta' left; all that she was had disappeared. What were you when you were empty? She probably didn't even need her name anymore, it meant nothing to anyone.

Her thoughts rounded and rounded on these things whenever she sat still, which was more oft than not nowadays. While she had once been a diligent scout searching for her brother, she had slowly cut back on her outings until she hardly even moved from the dens or Falls. Why would she bother? She wasn't going to find anyone out there who would be happy to see her. In fact, the only wolf who had decided to take any interest in putting Zeta to work was @Eek . And thank god for that woman, or else Zeta would have spiralled further down and much quicker. While the woman was not overly affectionate or warm, any attention was more than the nothingness she felt 100% of the time.

If the old Zeta could see her present self, she would have thought she'd been looking at a stranger. What had happened to the bubbly and outgoing girl who had left Brittle Stone Basin? The optimistic and happy girl who used to brighten others day just from her personality? She died, with the rest of her family, she answered herself coldly. Now we can be whatever we want, because I have nothing. Then she scoffed at herself inwardly, So I suppose this is what we're going to amount to being: a depressed sloth of skin and bones. Which was more than okay with the Argyris. What goals did she have? What goals should she have?

The Argyris had struggled with purpose ever since her family had disappeared from her life, and while she had thought she was making good progress by moving her moping body from the den to the Falls, she did not do anything different than lay out and stare at mundane things, like patterns in the rocks or dirt, and or watch ants travel. Her eyes would follow these things, mistaking herself as engaged, but in reality her mind was racing with memories and what-ifs the entire time. When she heard the shuffling of feet, her mind was momentarily pulled from the pain in her side as well as her mental distractions to see Arion coming to the water's edge. She was oddly hidden behind the great stones surrounding the Falls, and was surprised that her mouth opened at the sight of the boy. "Oh, hi Arion," she started, craning her neck back to a comfortable level so that she wasn't looking at him anymore. She did not have the energy to greet him like she would have before all of this. Luckily for both of them, Zeta knew Arion wasn't a socialite and he would likely remove himself from the conversation soon enough -- if their last encounter spoke at all for how this was going to go. A bit of awkward small talk and a excusal to return them both to their 'previous business'; no need to get up for any of that.

<3 <3 @Zeta sorry for length & delay! :c

While the smudge was having a splendid time being on his own, his mind plagued by unwanted memories, Arion was grateful for the arrival of the silver girl. A distraction, despite being equally as brooding, was welcomed. Like Zeta, the boy remained where he was, his slender body perched neatly across the cool stone. Their last encounter had been nothing short of awkward, but he was grateful for her presence. Even if there was only a handful of words exchanged between them, it was still better than being alone with his thoughts.

“Hi Z,” he greeted softly, his teal gaze still focused on the rushing water before him. Clearly, something was on her mind, but he did not want to pry. If the silver girl felt like sharing, she would. R was not the type to put his nose in where it did not belong. They were both private wolves, and the smudge did not want to make her uncomfortable. So, instead of bombarding her with questions, he remained silent. Perhaps the best thing for them was to enjoy the silence, together, without having to talk about their demons. Arion still did not know how to talk about his mother’s death, and he was sure Zeta did not want to hear about it — especially if something was troubling her.

If she wanted to talk, he would engage. But, if she wanted to enjoy the silence together, he would be alright with that, too.
