With both of his sisters busy doing something else, attached to the hips like almost always, Ryker was left to his lonesome yet again at the big den they had been moved to a few months back. Not that he minded in the slightest. The quietest of the Lieris liked being on his own, because it meant being able to recede into his thoughts, listen for the scurrying of animals or listen songs the birds made.
But he wasn’t completely on his own today, he knew that much. His mama was nearby, the young pup was sure of it and while part of him wished to be on his own, the blue eyed pup wanted to spend time with with his mama. She was always so focused on watching Lucia and Aleris to make sure they didn’t harm each other or the things around them, she often overlooked him. But Ryker knew it wasn’t out of neglect because she still spent plenty of time with him anyway.
And that’s exactly why he was on the hunt for his mama now.
“Mama!” He called as he ambled out of the den and into the world that opened up in front of him The small pup pause at the entrance of the den, allowing his eyes to adjust from the mild darkness of the den to the bright outside world. Despite his age, his eyes were still a strong puppy blue and his eyesight still blurred around the edges of things. Not to mention he had grown accustomed to almost running into different things and other wolves, due to his depth perception, or slight lack thereof. It’s why he disliked wandering far from the den without the guide of his sisters’ loud playfulness or his parents kind words. It wasn’t quite as bad as he thought and he was getting better but the young pup was still insecure about it all.
“Mama?” Ryker called out again, a little softer as his eyes tried to focus on a brownish thing in the distance. It wasn’t moving. “So maybe it was a rock? Or could it be his mama, sleeping? Hesitating, Ryker stumbled forward a few feet, opening his mouth again. “Mama, wanna story. Pwease,” He remembered to add, knowing his mother liked it when he said it. That’s how they spent some of their time together, his mother telling him stories to settle him into bed or to just keep him entertained. The brow blob came into more focus as he drew closer, it not moving either as he called out. It made the young pup pout as he got close enough to make out it was definitely a rock. He just wanted his mama, that was all.
