@Miccah - Father/Son time brought to you by Don't You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia

The young prince, an honorific bestowed upon him by birth, his parents king and queen respectively, was gallivanting around the territory again, learning new things about the finer parts of the territory every day, and doing so on his own, most of the time, or with his friends… his friends were silent creatures like him, consisting of a stick and a leaf, and while he was starting to understand they were just objects, and they could not speak to him, he treated them like a child would their blanket – toys he could use to further his adventures and expand his knowledge.

It wasn’t about exploring the lands today though… it was about finding faces. He wasn’t huge on talking, that much was painfully evident by the way he held himself and how rare his voice came out to form actual words – mostly to scold at or challenge Flair for gnawing on his tail again or when he talked to Enia… no, his father had told him that the faces he saw around there were supposed to be his family which was one of the main things he had quite a good grasp on… and family was supposed to be… close? Yes, it was supposed to be close, right?

He was pretty sure that was why he had to sleep close to his tail-biting sister every night, because family was close, and it was more important than anything else in the whole wide world! He was perhaps dangerously close to the border of the territory, trying to find someone who he was supposed to call family.

The dark king was making his usual rounds at the borders, but his mind was not at peace. Life was good within the Woodlands - the pack was thriving, his wife and children were healthy and happy, and there was no surrounding pack that was causing conflict. Yet, Miccah was still troubled. And it seemed he was not the only one. Inali, although putting on a brave face, kept unusually to herself and there was a certain pain her gaze Miccah knew he could not fix. Yuka was still gone, as was his mother on their mission and this no doubt troubled Ash to no end. He had no news for the man, at least, no news that would bring him peace. Miccah, as their king and friend, wanted to fix it all. But he couldn't. The dark king just needed to wait, and hopefully, somehow, he would receive news from his pack members that were embedded within enemy territory.

A rustle within the thickets broke him from his thoughts, and the man immediately scanned his surroundings, searching for any possible threat. Yet, this supposed "threat" was just his son and the father silently watched the boy as he loudly walked through the growth of their home and was heading dangerously close to the borders. Miccah was not a stupid man. His children were adventurous and no doubt had followed their curiosity out of pack lands a few times already, yet his son would not do so today.

"Son," he rumbled in greeting, warmth leaking into his usually stoic tone, a slight, rare smile upon his maw.

It was never intentional, getting too close to the border nor crossing it… it was simply a matter of the young child’s curiosity getting the best of him, and his mind slipping away from the rules until he realized where he was and backed away… it was his mind slipping into the adventure once more, the search, that had caused him to linger so closely to the edge of the safety net his parents and family had provided him with… his mind had wandered until he heard the familiar voice, his head turning, piercing puppy blue eyes spotting the larger frame that compared to his own, a smile on his features though he said not a word at first.

He slowly pressed towards his father, his tail carrying a light wag as he noted the smile that lurked on his father’s features. “Dad.” He returned the greeting in the same manner, though his voice was higher, not quite dropping down to what it would be when he was older, and his expression was more light, more emotions slipping into his features with a wide grin and curiosity and adventure lurking in his eyes. “I was looking for everyone.” He half explained. Words were strange to him, he knew how to use them, but he preferred not to… still, as soon as he’d heard his father’s voice he’d noticed where he was, and the thick markings that the pack had left by the borders… he was looking for someone to play with who wouldn’t constantly bite his tail or avoid a fight… which meant he was looking for someone who wasn’t Flair and wasn’t Enia.

There was lightness in the king's heart as he stared at his growing son. He was happy to notice his son's face so...open and peaceful. More and more, the boy grew into Miccah's image yet the father was satisfied that his son had not completely inherited his closed nature. Of course, he didn't wish for his son to become some doormat, he was an Athesila after all, but it was refreshing to see such an open nature other than in his wife. At his son's brief words, the guardian couldn't help but chuckle slightly. "I hope I didn't disappoint," he joked with his son.

Lapsing into silence, the man lifted his paw and tugged his son closer to him. As the king eyed his son while doing this, he realized it wouldn't be long before he couldn't do that anymore. Smiling slightly, Miccah looked down at his son. "Where are your sisters?" he questioned, curious. He hoped Flair wasn't getting into too much trouble. Enia was probably with her mother. Still, he wished to know if Cináed knew of their whereabouts. Ever since it seemed the boy was old enough, Miccah tried to drill in his head that he should always try and protect his little sisters, no matter how "annoying" they got. He only hoped the boy followed his advice and continued to do so as they aged. After all, Miccah wouldn't always be there to protect his little girls. It was a thought he didn't like thinking about, so he turned his attention back onto his son.

His grin widened as his father teased, Cin letting his nose wrinkle with a coy look hitting his features. “I guess you’ll do.” He played along before letting out a light jest in return. No, he was glad to see him, and always would be. Family was everything, after all, and his father was someone to look up to just like his mother was. He moved forward, careful to watch his step as he looked up at his father with puppy blue eyes, his grin holding and his features returning to their happy and somewhat carefree attitude from earlier before he started to act.

Where were his sisters? Great question. He didn’t know, and part of him didn’t really care… they were so infuriating, especially with Flair and her love of trying to eat his tail! HE NEEDED THAT. He let out a soft huff with a frown. Part of him did care. They were his sisters, and when it came down to it, they were his friends too. “I dunno. Flair’s prolly off causing trouble again… Enia is prolly not causing trouble.” He shrugged as he tried to explain. He loved them, really he did, and he understood his father’s concerns, and appreciated his wisdom when it came to protecting his sisters.

But sometimes it was hard when all Flair did was pick on him! Then Enia would start to mediate and it was just too frustrating for him to handle sometimes. “Why is Flair always bein’ so mean to me, Dad? She’s always goin’ after my tail and tacklin’ me.”

His son's words made him shake his head, a slight smile appearing on his maw before it swiftly disappeared. Ah, did every child ask that question about their siblings? His words reminded him of another time. Another place. When he was a child, and when his parents were alive. Wow, how time had flown. The dark king could admit to himself that he was not the young man he was when he first came to the Lore, but the pain from his dark past no longer slashed him as painfully as it had done once before. His son reminded him of when he was a child, asking those very same questions about his siblings. A light warmth appeared in his gaze as he looked down at his son and opened his maw to speak. "I asked the same thing to my dad, Cin. He said 'Sisters can be mean, and bite your tail, but no one will ever fight for you more.'" He waited a beat, then another. Would his son get what he was trying to say? Miccah guessed he was still a little rusty in this 'fatherhood' role. Aideen was a natural as a mother, and Miccah sometimes wished he could be more like his wife and communicate better with his children. "Do you understand, son?" But, he would always give it his all.

A slight measure of disbelief flew across his features at his father’s explanation, his eyes widening suspiciously. “Did he really say that?” He questioned, not quite ready to believe that his father had the same issues with his own siblings. His dad seemed so calm, and if his sisters had really been that mean to him, he knew his daddy would have put them in their place! “If she’ll always fight for me, then why does she fight against me?” He still didn’t quite understand the concepts behind it or how it worked out in the long run. Honestly, he couldn’t remember a time when his sister wasn’t after him.

It was like she was born to give him trouble! He shook his head with a confused look on his expression. “No… where are your sisters?” That caught his curiosity now. If his dad’s sisters would always right for him, then where were they right now? A slight frown caught his features as he tried to understand how everything fit together, like a giant puzzle that he was hankering to solve, and he wouldn’t be able to sleep until he did… at least that was what he was willing to bet. “Whatcha mean, dad?”
