Mako Coho
@Marina lemme know if i should change anything

The shark ambled towards the territory's bounds, his hungry amber eyes glinting as he searched the horizon. It would have been nice to see something that was big enough to hunt, but all he saw was snow in all directions. The only features of interest were birds, which were much too hard to catch during the day, and big grey boulders that lay scattered around the landscape. He wondered what was even under all that snow, or if the ground, too, was stone.

Mako couldn't say he had necessarily been looking for it, but was oh so helpless but to follow the sweet scent of meat. Mako tracked the scent to a massive stone that was so big he couldn't reach the top even standing on his hind limbs. Perhaps a bobcat had jumped up there and left something on the top, but he didn't think so. He stubbornly circled around the big boulder, his nose leading him to a huge stone that sat next to it, looking much like the boulder's baby.

Ah ha! Right here. Someone had thought to hide their cache beneath the boulderette, which stank of Capable. He braced his shoulder up against it and gave a mighty shove. It didn't budge. He backed up and took a running charge. Still the stone barely jiggled with his only reward a bruise. He huffed in annoyance, obviously Capable was some sort of titan, it was much too heavy to move by himself. He'd need help for this one. Fortunately, he knew just the wolf he could depend on.

Mako backtracked towards where he had seen Marina earlier that day, near a rocky scree up a steep hillside. He peered up the side of the crag, eyes squinting for the brown and grey form camouflaged against the stone. "Hey, sis!" He hollered up, his black tail swishing behind him. "You hungry?"

Mako might have been out and about, wandering through snow and whatever else was in this weird, tree-less place, but the other Coho pup could often be found scrambling up the sides of the monadnock that had since become their home. She missed the river, she missed the pools of water and the fish that lived there, but there was no point in sitting around just missing something she wasn’t going to see again. At least the stony terrain offered something interesting for her to do; after all, climbing was not a hobby the girl could indulge in back amongst the oak trees.

She was in the middle of considering her next leap upwards when the shark caught her attention.

Gazing over her shoulder, she noticed the silver male cut a path towards her, her thick tail wiggling behind her. Mako was actually seeking her out! And there was no tangible anger, no less! “Hey bruh,” she greeted him happily, turning about to face him properly. If he was going to be nice, so was she. “I’m always hungry, you know that.” After exploring, eating was probably one of her favorite hobbies. “Why, you wanna go hunting?” It sure wasn’t fishing, but…well, it was interesting in its own right.

Mako Coho
Mako snuffed, he liked the sound of that answer. Surely then she wouldn't be opposed to a little... liberation of someone's leftovers. Things would be much easier if he had an eager accomplice, and who better to help him than his own sister?

Mako smiled back up at Marina, he needed to play nice if he was going to get her help. But that didn't last too long. He couldn't quite hide his annoyance at her question, rolling his eyes. "Waste of time, there's nothing out here anyways." There was nothing just the two of them could bring down, at least. Maybe in the forest they would have had luck with finding something more appropriately sized for their skill. But it seemed prey up here came in two sizes, bite sized or overwhelmingly massive.

"Besides, I've got a much better idea," The shark said with a toothy smirk. "I found something a lot easier than hunting. You just gotta help me get it out. It's not too far, I'll show you." He said, his white paws dancing restlessly beneath him as he was eager to get going before someone noticed something was up. "You coming or not?" He asked over his shoulder, already on the move.

Nothing out here?

Now, that wasn’t entirely true, was it? Mako was just being a storm cloud. Again. That was discounting the massive snowshoe hares and those stupid marmot things you might stir up from sleep if you were really, really lucky. There were reindeer, too, and those were pretty fun – but difficult to catch, when you were only two. For a moment, the Coho female looked like she might argue, but the shark was already pressing forward, insisting he had a better idea. Now this, this was something she needed to hear.

Marina scampered down from her perch with a surprising amount of grace for someone of her general shape and structure – there was most certainly something to be said for practice – and trotted over to her brother’s side. “Don’t get your tail all in a knot,” she huffed playfully, reaching out to bump his muzzle with her own. Why was he in such a hurry, anyways? Not like someone was going to stop the pair from their bit of fun. “Go on, then. Lead the way,” Marina encouraged. “I wanna see this. Easier than hunting.”

She chuckled, but something in her chest fluttered as she fell into stride at Mako’s flank. Maybe, her mind whispered hopefully, maybe he’d found somewhere they could fish!

Mako Coho
@Marina

Oh she was laughing now? Mako snuffed, his nose wrinkled irritably. Well, whether or not she believed him, it didn't matter. The truth was only one giant rock away. Marina would doubtlessly be impressed by his keen observation skills and ingenuity in finding such an easy meal. While she was romping around like a wannabe mountain goat, he was bringing home the bacon. Or at least, there was a promise of bacon if he could get her to help him.

Her prodding wasn't needed, and with a flippant flick of his tail, Mako turned and proceeded to lead his sister across the tundra. The boy sauntered with great confidence, retracing his steps to return to his discovery. "It's just up ahead!" He hissed in anticipation, his pale paws kicking up snow as he broke into a jog.

Mako rounded about the giant boulder, finding the smaller, yet still rather sizable stone that the cache was hidden beneath. "It's right here," He said as he lowered his nose to point. "Under this rock. But it's too big for me to move by myself, see?" He said with a little nudge of his shoulder to the nearly wolf-sized hunk of granite. "You just gotta help me move it." He said, looking at his sister expectantly.

“Okay, okay, I’m coming! Jeeze.”

Would Mako ever stop being so grouchy? Probably not. That was a fool’s hope. But it didn’t stop the chunky pup from trailing after her sibling eagerly. The boy was the way he was, and that was okay. Marina didn’t mind as much as she used to, anyways, and trailed after the shark until he revealed the location of his discovery. For a moment, the girl simply squinted, trying to determine what exactly was so special about the rock, until her nose finally got a whiff. There was something edible nearby, but-- Under the rock?

Well, it certainly didn’t get there on its own, did it?

She glanced from the massive stone to her brother, head tipped to one side. “You sure we should be doing this?” she asked, padding over to join him. Goodness, he was taller now, wasn’t he! But certainly not heavier (or stronger, Marina thought with some smug glee), and the cub considering the puzzle for several moments before testing the weight. Mako certainly wasn’t kidding about the stone’s heft, was he? Tipping her head again, she hummed. “Maybe if we do this together, at the same time, we can move it? What do you say?”
