Warning for language, probably all Bash's threads will need one. RE: Cold snap - Icy Grip. This is AW but special mention for @Cameron.

Would it ever stop snowing? Once it had been a novelty, to be released from the house to go visit the bears and cats whenever Steevo decided to do the rounds, but now? Urgh, the novelty had worn off a long time ago.

Had the boy a lick of sense he might have known that all these months the pair had been traveling north, and had they headed south they would be a whole lot warmer. Instead, they wandered whatever direction looked good on any given day, often doubling back over terrain they had already crossed. They ate carrion when they could find it and moaned about aching stomachs when they couldn't, and now that their winter coats were beginning to shed, with the lack of Shazza's brush to make them stunning, the pair were a very sorry, tufty, skinny sight indeed.

His stomach gave another gurgle, at this rate they'd be having full blown conversations and a low rumbled Oi, was all he had the energy to offer in an attempt to placate his hollow sides. He'd had to leave Crash behind so he didn't hit the bastard but it wouldn't take him long to catch up, with a big trench left in his wake all the work had been done for the faster brother.

In the meantime, he was going to try and shut his bitching guts up. Bash's silver head lifted as his nose worked overtime trying to track down an easy meal, one paw placed in front of the other with no mind to where he stepped. He couldn't know that he was standing on a marsh, or that the next step would send him plunging through thin ice and into water up to his chest.

"Fuckin! Shitfuck!" he unleashed a startled string of curses, attempting to drag his sodden arse out of the water but only breaking away the edges of the ice as he tried to pull himself up. "This is FUCKED!" he declared rather loudly, uncertain if there was anyone around to hear. All he wanted was a bowl full of Shazza's burned leftovers and a comfy couch to chew. Was that too much to ask?!

With his own belly grumbling unhappily, Crash didn't particularly care when Bash went ahead of him. The trench he led tin his wake made it easier for him to walk through the cold snow. The fucking bastard might be annoying as hell but at least he was useful for something. He decided. And even if Crash was the quicker brother out of the two, he liked going at his own pace.

His ears pricked when he heard the shouts of his brother but Crash simply huffed. It just sounded like Bash was annoyed. Like always, ever since they had left their 'home' with Stevo and Shazza so he wasn't in a rush to help him brother. And a small part of him wanted to be back there, because at least it was bloody warm and even he missed the hellish thing Shazza called food.

However, laughter fell out of his maw as soon as he laid eyes on his brother struggling in the water. "What happened bro, get chased by another Reggie?" The boy teased, snickering while his brother continued to flail in the water. Ah Reggie. What a fucking beaut of a memory, one that Crash would never let his brother forget in their lifetime.

But Bash would chew his ear off if he didn't help and crash didn't want to hear any more of Bash's belly aching so Crash stepped forward to pull him up. "Hold still will you, you fucking twat?'

But as soon as his paws settled on the edge of the water and trying to grab his brother somehow, not only did his paws too break through the ice but one of Bash's flailing feet struck Crash, making him....Well he went crashing head first into the water beside his brother. Despite quickly rising to the surface, Crash still swallowed a mouthful of water and so rose, spluttering and snarling at Bash.

"You fuckwit! I was trying to help!" He snapped at him, coughing as he too tried to find his footing. But both were without luck. "BLOODY FUCKING HELL IT'S COLD."

Maybe together we can get somewhere.

Snow crunched beneath her paws, which moved endlessly forward without so much as a general direction in mind. In times like these, she supposed wolves would seek out their extended families, but Maia no longer had a family to run to. For the first time in her life, she was completely and utterly alone. "Alone." The word tasted foreign on her tongue, but it broke the silence. She'd always had an us or a we, and gods she missed it. Sighing, the girl continued on, aware that such lingering thoughts would only make things harder.

The only signs of life came to her in the form of paw-prints, covered quickly by the falling snow. They were usually that of a hare, or some other small prey. Nothing stimulating or fresh enough to be any interest to the pale girl, and certainly nothing worth the wasted energy it would take to hunt them down. So it wasn't until she caught sight of a trench, obviously made by other wolves that she felt her tail begin to swing. Wolves meant safety, or something like that, right?

Averting her course, the yearling followed their trail, grateful that they had already done the more labor intensive job of packing the snow. Her intention wasn't to find them per se, but rather to find out where they were going. Did they come from a pack, or were they going somewhere else? Either way, the creamy youth had a good feeling about it.

Those good vibes didn't last long, minutes really, before the unmistakable crackling of ice and splash of a body hitting the water swept across the air. Maia's paws reacted much quicker than her head, pulling her lithe body towards the sound. Dandelion eyes swept over the scene. One of the boys was struggling to free himself, but his thrashing only succeeded in sending him straight back into the icy waters below. The other seemed to be in a bad way, coughing and sputtering as though he'd never been in the water before. Didn't they know that it was too warm to be walking across the ice?

Without a word, the girl slid herself onto the ice before them, careful to keep her weight distribution even. On her stomach, she crawled, inching closer and closer to them. "Hey! Stop jerking around. You're only cracking the ice more!" Her voice was stern, much more than it had ever been before, but was just as likely that their struggling would send her crashing into the waves alongside them. Then they would all be cold.

It wasn't as though the water was terribly deep, once his paws found the frigid mud it only came to his chest. A smarter wolf would have simply broken their way back towards solid ground or even tried to jump clear of the fragile edges instead of simply making the hole they were swimming in wider all round. Everything after that realisation was a blur, Crash's sudden arrival, the instinctive leap he took towards his brother, the words hardly heard over the slap and splash of his frantic attempts to escape. A paw heavily thudded against ice, the other slipping to swipe the pale domestic and land him face first in the water next to him. "Worst. Pool party. EVER!"

There was a good chance his declaration went unheard as his companion emerged spluttering and swearing, "Well we proved that one wrong hey? Couldn't hit water if ya fell out of a boat... Ya dickhead!" he countered the accusations slung his way, "I woulda figured it out!" Their bickering, however, was interrupted as a young lass slid onto the scene. The boy took on an easy smile despite her reproachful tone, "Well he-llo beautiful." A quick click of his teeth was sent in Crash's direction to encourage him to cease any further flailing. "Have you come to take me to heaven? That's the only time Angels turn up right?" The latter half of his question aimed towards his companion. He wasn't the only one seeing this right?

As his paws too found purchase on the ground, at first, Crash couldn’t hear his brother’s words properly as not only did his mouth filled with water but so had his ears. Roughly shaking his head, Crash caught the last few words and rolled his eyes at his brother’s sudden turn in nature and at his words as he coughed up the last of the water that he had swallowed.

Even if they were still in the water, he was glad the water wasn’t as deep as first thought. But Bash was right. Worst pool party ever, in all the history of pool parties. Including that one Stevo and Shazza had tossed for their first birthday and somehow managed to burn the full of water plastic pool down. Before the two had even taken a step towards it.

“Fuckin’ hell if I know anythin’ about angels.” His teeth snapped back at Bash. “If ya wanna find one, go find Shazza. She had a bunch of ‘em of them ‘member?” And wasn’t that the truth. Shazza had a bunch of the shiny buggers lined up too high for the brothers knock over and break, which had disappointed Crash because he had broken one once and the tinkling sound it made as it broke was quite a fun sound to hear. Crash looked over towards the girl who had skated over towards them and simply grinned once it clicked what his brother meant by angel. “Though I do now know what you mean.”

It wasn't until the two boys stilled that Maia was able to determine that they could reach, so the stranger's first comment flew right over her head. The second, however, came just as the wave of panic subsided, and she could fully process his words. Warm in all the wrong ways, the yearling felt embarrassment creep across her skin. "O-oh I, Um.." She was trying to form a coherent sentence when the other male threw his two-cents in, making the whole ordeal that much worse. "U-uh no. I just heard the ice, and, uh." Hotter and hotter she flushed, until the fae was certain that flames would engulf her body.

Surely they'd freeze to death if she just laid there sputtering, so the pale woman gave up on her first thought entirely. Averting her sunny gaze to look at anything but them, Maia tried to continue. "You gotta try to slide out." But images of the larger one crashing against the ice reminded her that things might not be so easy. "And, uh, I'll try to pull you the rest of-of the way. Sliding a little closer to the edge, she positioned herself to grab their scruffs.

One more thing. "O-oh, Uh, you-you'll have to go one at a time. The ice is too thin for all of us." Only then did she wonder just how cold the water was, and whether or not she'd be finding out.

Aww she was shy! The boys sodden tail slapped against the icy water as he began to wade towards her with a goofy smile on his face. Instinctively, his paws rose to slap the water, play bow pausing when the frigid water hit his chin, Oh right... they should probably get out of the water first.

He listened to her plan, it seemed sound enough until he remembered the way the ice collapsed beneath him with every attempt to escape. "Nah, love, don't want you in here too. Which way's the solid ground? You head towards it, then if the ice breaks when we follow at least we'll know where it ends hey?" It was probably the most he'd used his brain in all his years and it showed in the way that he winced and shook (or maybe that was just the cold finally getting to him).

A quick glance was thrown to Crash as he waited for her to move to safety and give them a direction to aim for, a not so silent "Dibs," called in his brother's direction with a smirk. He knew this wasn't the end and there was little doubt in his mind that they would fight about it, but common sense would encourage them to wait until they were on solid ground, and dry... but then again, common sense was something both boys lacked.

“Unless you want to get in here with us and help warm the water up?” Teasing, Crash tried to be smooth but like his brother, raised his paws to place them on the edge of the ice, with all his weight behind him. He seemed to have forgotten what had gotten them into this mess in the first place and leaving him unprepared as his paws crashed through the ice, as if further proving Bash’s point. Water rushed over his head again but luckily he remembered the water wasn't deep and pushed himself back up quickly.

“Fuck.” He whined, snorting the water out that had gone sharply up his nose and frozen it even more than before. “That shit’s cold.” As if that wasn’t obvious before, Bash would mostly jeer at him once he heard the other’s words. “Yeah, better lead the way sweetheart. Don’t think numbskull here and myself are gonna be able to walk on the stuff.” Crash didn’t care if his brother had called dibs on the girl or not - and that would most likely begin their next argument, that Crash hadn’t listened to Bash. This girl was pretty and Crash just hoped his brother’s ugly mug didn’t scare her off.

She caught the stranger's movement in her peripheral vision, causing her sunny gaze to swing toward him. Maia had expected him to make an attempt at breaching the ice, so when he came crashing down, in what she could have only assumed was the beginnings of a bow, and splashed himself in the face she almost smiled. At least she wasn't the only one doing silly things.

Likely freezing, and obviously seeing the holes in her plan, the brown-eyed one spoke. Nodding her agreement, she turned to face the shoreline. Even if the two could somehow slide onto the ice, there was still no guarantee that they'd be able to distribute their weight evenly enough to crawl away.

The yellow-eyed male's innuendo was lost on the girl, and although she knew he was joking she still offered a, "Oh, no-no thank you." anyways. As if to add to the stranger's requests to lead the way, and remind her of their situation, the thinning sheet shifted slightly under her frame. Time to go.

"This way." She said, pointing with her cream-colored muzzle. Putting some distance between herself and the boys, she was careful to avoid any cracks running towards her. The task, however, was not enough to distract her from the 'Dibs.' that they so nonchalantly threw about. Dibs? Dibs on what? Did they see a fish or something?
