Sorry for the delay! Backdated to May 4th — Light rain shower — 47 ° F, 8 ° C. Just lemme know if you want anything changed, @Adelayde

Two weeks.

That's how long Cottongrass had been a part of Wild Rye Fields, and he wasn't entirely sure how to describe it. He wanted to say it was somewhere in between boring and downright terrifying because that's what life ranged from day to day. There were moments where all he wanted to do was run away and get into weird scenarios like he used to always do. And then there were moments where all he wanted to do was run away and never return because oh geez, someone was about to talk to him he was going to die.

But fortunately—fortunately—today was one of the days he considered boring. He didn't know where Askan and Reyes might have been and he didn't know where to even start looking. So today he was on his own. And like always, he found that he didn't know what the heck he was doing.

It was raining and had been since yesterday. Meaning that the world was all kinds of cold and rainy, even when he tried to take shelter under the sprawling forest on the southernmost fringes of pack territory. He was pretty proud to admit that he had only slipped twice since he had woken up. And that had to have been a world record for him or something because usually he was about as clumsy as a baby deer learning to walk.

He decided it was a call for celebration as he weaved through the trees, raindrops dripping down from the leaves above as he came to a stop. Behind him his tail started to wag and he shook out his messy coat. Though he wasn't sure why he did the last part when trying to be clean was a moot point now. Oh well.

And without another moment of hesitation, Cottongrass dropped to the ground and started rolling in the mud. He did his best to work the cold and slimy texture into his pelt, really just making a mess of himself. It was something he'd no doubt regret in the moments to come. But at the time it seemed like a good idea.
