Nilak Maujaq
The river south of the Thunder Bowl. Evening, light rain 60 ° F, 15.5 ° C

Nilak's paws wearily scrambled for purchase after nearly tripping on a patch of wet stone that stuck out like a scab from the tundra ground. Waking up back on the edge of that strange depression in the ground a few hours ago was disconcerting and had shaken Nilak more than he would ever admit, he must be pushing himself harder than he had first thought. The smell of water still wafted across his nose like a cool, insistent pull, nearly instinctual it was a pull that Nilak couldn't ignore and he had promised to take a very long and well deserved rest once he had found the source. To top it all off there was a light rain falling, not nearly enough to relieve his thirst but just enough to accumulate on the ground and make traversing the rocky tundra hazardous for an exhausted wolf.

Nilak whined as his stomach cramped, when had it been the last time he'd eaten? A fresh wave of exhaustion pushed the thought from his mind and drove the white wolf to the ground where he stayed for a long time. Nilak doesn't remember much after he fell, there was a mad dash through a blizzard of stinging, biting thorns pursued by hollow wolves with dead eyes and shriveled insides. The thorns tore and bit at Nilak's coat and hide, the hollow wolves were ripped to shreds in the storm but the shreds only spawned more. Wherever it was that they were was dark, the only sound was the crackling, ripping and tearing of the thorns and Nilak couldn't smell a thing he was afraid his nose had been too damaged by the strange storm. Suddenly the wolves had caught up with Nilak and started tearing into him as well, pulling and yanking on his fur trying to pull him to the ground even as they were torn to ribbons themselves. Nilak frantically twisted his head, ears held flat against his skull, trying to avoid smelling the stench of his attackers. Nilak's eyes widened suddenly, not only could he not smell anything but he couldn't breath at all! Nilak yanked and twisted underneath the stone like abrasiveness of his attackers' coats gasping the entire time, trying to get air. Nilak's eyes struggled to remain open, finally giving in to the inevitable of being suffocated and torn to death.

Nilak's angular head tore free of the waters surface, gulping air like a fish out of water. The wolf, panicked and terrified, backpedaled through the shallows of the river panting in short, quick succession. Somehow Nilak had ended up passing out and nearly drowning in a river, once he'd calmed down he smiled to himself, "Well at least I found where that smell of water was coming from." Nilak quickly dropped his head again to voraciously drink up the water and fill his shrinking stomach, his limbs still shook but now it wasn't just from exhaustion.
